Please welcome guest lecturer Belu Chi to the channel! She's going to teach us how to sew 3 gorgeous, frequently used seams: the rolled hem, the bound hem, and the Hong Kong finish. Buy her book, "101 Sewing Seams" here: abcseams.com/products/book-10...
About Belu Chi
I studied Industrial Design in Argentina, clothing was my specialty.
My first job was as a product developer for Burberry (Spain). There I learned the importance of details, finishes, and constructions. After 6 years, I worked as a product developer and patternmaker for a supplier of brands like Pepe Jeans, Karl Lagerfeld (the brand), Zara, and Adolfo Dominguez, among others. In 2012 I moved to Australia. I was teaching sewing and patternmaking until 2018. In 2016 I co-founded ABC Seams, and from 2018 I work full time there.
About ABC Seams
We are the new standard for inspiring, communicating, and referring Sewing Seams. We study, develop and codify sewing seams to improve the communication in the textile industry. Our seams (sketches and codes) are free to use. Everyone can find them at our Seams Gallery at abcseams.com.

Zoe, I have a question! If you want to be a fashion illustrator, and sell prints of other people's designs, is that copyright? Like I'm not selling the design, but technically I'm profiting from it, so would that be an issue? Say I drew a picture of something I saw on a runway and sold the prints of it, do companies and designers have beef with that?

@@maryraab9066 No, I will not be recording the class. I am constantly struggling with people stealing my content, reposting to monetize off my work, etc etc and so I have put together rules for my business to minimize thieving opportunities as much as possible.

@@zoehongteaches I understand. I am so sorry that you have been taken advantage of. Sadly, it IS the way of the world..... Would you please consider offering some kind of notes/printed material that you could email to those who have paid for your class. I WILL be taking notes, but it's easy to miss details sometimes. I'm sure there will be things I would like to review. I promise, I have NO intention of taking advantage of you. I just want to learn and improve. Thank you. Take care. XXOO

Belu did a fantastic job explaining how to construct the seams. She even gave pointers on how to handle the fabric as it moves through the stitching process... I find those tricks to be the most helpful and the biggest "secrets" that never get taught! THANK YOU! I'd love more content like this.

Hope this helps...I have a mini iron from my My Mama, God rest her soul. She was a dressmaker, tailor, quilter. Her mini-iron came from the Clover company. They make a wealth of sewing accessories. www.clover-usa.com/en/48-mini-iron If you scroll down there is a mini-iron kit with multiple iron attachments. Looks amazing! * It seems you can order directly from their website , but you might also find their products at Joanns, Michaels or Hobby Lobby as well. Best of luck🌈🥰💕

Thank you Zoe, for inviting Belu Chi to demonstrate these seams. Belu Chi thank you for describing and demonstrating, with such clarity, the various seams. Also, I cannot express the gratitude that I felt when you were describing how to manage the fabric while sewing. I have had those very same issues while using the rolled hem foot. Much continued success in your endeavor to codify seams, in a universal manner, by writing your book: "101 Sewing Seams"! Zoe, again, a special thanks to you for continuing to share your experience and knowledge by presenting and sharing your "world" with us, the RU-vid viewer! I am very grateful!
