I just spent like a whole hour on hi-hats and came up with a unique and sophisticated pattern that am really proud of, only to erase it and start from scratch because I can tell that the pattern is really cluttering the beat specially with the busy/melodic 808's I have, i remember you once said we get attached to our idea because of how much time we've put into it while it's clearly harming the beat, I couldn't agree more, thanks navie for giving us these gems 🖤
That's awesome that you were able to identify the problem and make that decisions, as hard as it probably was. Kudos to you, it takes a lot of discipline to delete.
You are actually the only „RU-vid-producer“ I’m watching right now. I really like that you don’t follow the concept of „how to make melodies like....“ or „I made the best beat ever“ with a picture of you with faked emotions in the thumbnail, but instead focus on single techniques you like to Introduce or simply just problem solving. You are only the third channel I actually activated the bell on 😅👏👏
Dag, thank you Zub! I know exactly what you mean, I try to stay away from making those types of videos. I like being a lot more direct with the topics I cover and how I present them
@@NavieD Just came across your channel and those were my thoughts exactly. Before even seeing other beats you produced something about the way you were explaining stuff made me think you knew your shit. The resume just confirmed it for me.
The most important thing I’ve learned from you is that less is more. I realised that a beat I composed yesterday was sounding too cluttered so I chucked the atmosphere and reverb for a simple beat. It sounded way clearer and was well received by my followers. Thank you for the efforts you out into making these videos man. We appreciate it. Cheers.
I think this quote suits (is that good word to use?) here: "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add but when there is nothing left to take away"
Your explanation on send channels, reverb (depth) and delay (space), was the most useful knowledge I had been lacking. This video just saved all of my future projects!! Thank you!
You really know what you talk. This type of logical point is the best way for me to learn and to be humble as hell . SO just wanted to say HUGE thanks for you and your effort ! It is worth tonz of golds, believe me .
This is definitely the thing I am looking for going down this rabbit hole of beat making tutorials. Thank you a lot for this Navie. It really helps a lot.
I'm a hugeee sucker for percussion loops. I spent most of my internet time collecting them. Cymatics makes the best perc loops IMO. Looperman is good too
NOW I'm not really new when it comes to sound design and audio engineering, but I must say, I've learnt quite a lot of little tips and tricks here and there which helped me tremendously. I love you videos it's really inspiring, keep up the good work man.
Your channel is the best man. Appreciate you big league. Would love if you did a vid on your approach to getting the full drum kit leveled out and equal and high in the mix without clipping or muting other sounds. Like using drum buss compression to make it all glue together. I’m coming from heavy metal so all the more unique drum kits for trap type beats has me a bit confused
This was an excellent video! It was very informative and exposed me to new techniques I never would have thought of. Thanks for the great content and keep it up! 👍
Cool vid. Big fan of adding occasional unusual sounds. Home recording and resampling them I find is a cool trick, and you know you're getting a sound no one else has ever used before. New subscriber here 🎼🎼🎼
@@NavieD Cheers! Been enjoying your videos. Been sampling my son's toy instruments recently. Toy piano, wind up music boxes, mini guitars, etc. Slightly atonal, tinky tonky stuff. Resampled and played on the midi keyboard with effects added, they can sound pretty cool/ unique.
That's crazy because I was just coming to this conclusion this morning. Had a melody on every instrument instead of using the sound from my sample as a melody
In your course, do we also learn sample details such as sampling a song that is in 3/4 and making it a 4/4? could also make a cool video since there isnt rly an indepth tutorial on that on yt
As of right now, the course is aimed towards teaching principles than just throwing examples and scenarios at you. I do plan on building more as time goes on
Bought Omnisphere last week. The presets are so amazing that I went back to clutter, overrunning my CPU with 4-6 Omnisphere channels 😂. Thanks for the wake-up call.
All of the ones I got there are from Splice. I just looked up percussion loops, took an hour or two to scroll through ones that I liked, downloaded, and then cancelled membership haha
hey navie...just stopping by to show some love, thanks for the email you sent me not long ago...I been very busy but I am gonna delve into that email at some point today I'm still trying to get better at making loops but this hi hat thing is a monster all in itself lol
@@NavieD lmao i mean, i tried to recreate that but couldn't. it turned out to be more complex than i thought.. they changed some bass notes from the original sample plus other things.. i can't understand how they did that.. it's like they changed the instruments inside the sample wtf
@@NavieD it would be so cool to have a tutorial on that technique, can't find any info online.. even tho it's a simple beat, the sample manipulation to me is mind blowing i can't understand what they did
Yo Navie you'll gain a new subscriber if you can help me understand why my songs sound great on my system but not in regular earbuds. What am I doing wrong?
@@demolowalton6772 thats a good setup. I would also consider getting headphones for mixing (for example audio technica ath 50). Its easier to mix with both monitors and headphones and its good to have multiple sources to check if the mix is good.
Well, the point of the video is to hopefully guide you on things you should consider when filling up your beat, and some of the things you may be doing that could be harming your beat
I want a beat that makes me want to kiss on hot girl's necks.... without getting in trouble with my head nurse...thank you Navi D...now I can say," The beat made me do it....Navi D showed me...look!".....thank you! Lol
