Please still waiting for your wash day routine, you said on your live 6 months ago that you would do it. I feel like I’m doing something wrong on washday. I would love to see your washday to see if I’m doing it right
I’m a 55 year old menopausal woman and I thank you so much for not forgetting about us! I just bought some Pumpkin seed oil and am starting a new hair routine. Thank you very very much.☺️
Sorry! I'm a day late. I put onion in my juicer and used an applicator bottle to apply the juice. I used it 6 weeks straight on my thinning spots and my hair grew in!! I'm definitely a believer in onion juice! Thanks for the tips on onion water!❤️
@@im-dv Hi! I apply the juice to my thinning spots and let it sit for 30 minutes. I wear a plastic cap of course. Then, I shampoo like normal. I did this once a week for 6 weeks and saw very nice results!
@@im-dv currently, my spots went from almost bald to me now regaining confidence in wearing my hair pulled back in a ponytail without having to fold hair over my spots.
My jamaican mother recently told me about using cloves to add shine to the hair. I didn't think about it until this video. Yup imma get some cloves just have to deal with the smell
@@kimberly5240 it wasn’t really a question but rather a statement. Onions are high in sulfur, heat denatures sulfur, burns it off, turns it into a gas. It is better to blend the onions and separate the liquid from the fiber. I press and strain it.
I worked in a nursing home most elderly men were bold but this one elderly male hade thick flown hair. I gave him a compliment about his hair. He replied “ thank you, I cut a union and just rub it on my scalp” I thought he was joking because I thought it might smell. Guess he wasn’t joking😅
I used the onion water/juice recipe by Green Beauty some years ago for a few months and I realized (after the fact), that my hair grew more. She suggested to use as a treatment before shampoo. Also, she mentioned the fact that it helped with the few strands of gray she had. Didn't seem to do anything for my lot. 😁 I might to do that treatment again.👍🏾
Yes I used the Green beauty recipe minus the Pepper as it really burns and as a person with Fine hair I have seen results after a few months my hair has gotten really dense
I just started using the Green beauty recipe as well (for the last month and a half). I'm really excited to see how onion juice helps with the overall health and growth of my hair! :D
I’ve been using her GB’s onion water treatment and as a post menopausal woman- I’ve got people asking me all the time how my hair got so thick. My mom started using it too.
Thanks to people like you and Green Beauty Natural we are getting the science. There are some RU-vidrs that never talk about the science of it all but they knock all these remedies. I just watched a video of a woman telling us to leave onion juice in 2022. I don't even know if they have ever tried these remedies.
Wow, as a new natural (1 year) with fine hair, the ONION JUICE, works for me. My hair has gotten so dense, people are thinking my hair have gotten thick. I have been trying a few DIYs, but the one that stands out is the Onion Juice, which I use as a pre-poo (overnight). I use it 1x month (every other wash day) and the next wash day I do an hot oil treatment.
@@kroyal4296 sorry I just saw your message.....Raw....I cut up a small onion and blend it in my bullet (no water) just the onion and then strain in a stocking cap. I use as a pre-poo, keep in for a minimum of about 30 minutes, then shampoo etc. Sometimes I keep it in overnight (if you can stand the smell). Also someone said boiled helps with the smell.
I can’t keep up chile! Been using ACV on top of my Deep Conditioner for the past few weeks…..hair feels amazing! I don’t know why I stopped using Onion juice….gotta start that back again too! So my favorite DIY right now that has absolutely thickened and strengthened my fine 3C/4A strands would have to be my Amla and Fenugreek mask which I make with my black rice water as a base! A moisturizing Deep conditioner after (with ACV on top) leaves my hair with the perfect strength/moisture balance. Way less shedding, strong, shiny strands, minimal frizz. My hair is very happy with me! TYSM as usual for sharing❤❤❤
I started (last month) the onion water with lavender, peppermint & sometimes tea tree oil in it & the onion smell was very faint. Applied it to my scalp daily w/massage & was pleasantly surprised by day 11 of the new growth. I've been under the weather lately so I didn't complete my lil challenge of everyday for 30 days. I've started back a week ago but I'm happy with the results I did get. Stay Blessed Sis & I enjoy & appreciate ur content very much.💯✌
Diamond D I can relate with your oil mix in onion juice,. Exactly what I used every wash day. I have not had dandruff for almost 10yrs I have been natural.
@qiv777 ... I boiled my onion in water. After it cooled I used the water & added rosemary & peppermint essential oils. It masked the smell well. Sorry I'm just now seeing ur comment. Also I'm restarting this today & plan to use lavender & maybe rosemary bc I've read that lavender essential oil is great for hair growth.
Every since I incorporated onion juice to my hair regime, I haven't had any dandruff. It's been 5 years seriously! Onion juice, water & oil has thickened my hair. Awesome video!🥰❤️❤️
@@kroyal4296 when I first treated for first time. I boil my water then added my cut red onions in Lil cubes then I dripped peppermint oil over the onions. I then turn off my stove eye and let the entire sauce pan cool enuf. I think placed a huge bowl in my kitchen sink then began pouring onion mixture over my hair scalp and redid it lieke 4 times wbetween my huge bowl that I placed in sink and my sauce pan that I used! That was the exact steps that I took and boy did get instant result omg. My scalp was having a party, it felt so darn good I cannot explain it any other way. I felt everything working instantly! Until today no more dandruff or any scalp issues for that matter. I hope this helps!
@@kroyal4296 honestly, I did that only once and it was Suffient enuf after that 1 time I used it! I noticed results right away by my scalp was left w a cool & tingling sensation that I felt instantly. I would say after covid I just started adding onions inside my oil bottle and let that ferment and then use it. Now when I did it this way, I was doing it to thickened my hair shaft and it did do just that, no joke! Not to mention I still have no dandruffs! I used to have giant flakes. My mother loved to scratch them, lol. She still cannot believe they r all gone for good! The other way that I explained w the water bath in my sink was b4 covid(a year) and I did it this way for my scalp to treat dry itchy flakes/scalp. I just drizzled peppermint oil right on yop of each onion cubes as best I could and allowed mixture to combine and cool/warm then began to pour over my scalp/hair. I wasn't heavy handed at all w the oil so maybe 1/2tea spoon or a Lil under. Just enuf to complete ur task. To treat my edges that was once gone, I use an actual onion itself. I slice it open and rub the sliced open onion right on my edges. They r back w vengeance noy even kidding u! U can do these treatments as often as u feel the need to. Ur hair will tell u ok no more or can u put that on again. U might want to treat ur hair 3 txs a wk or once a month it simply depends on ur hair needs. If u feel ur hair is drying out then that means take a break and give ur hair some moisture, water, aloe vera, hibiscus. Onions, Cafe, tea, cloves, & rice water just to name a few can leave the hair shaft dry. I hope this helps!
Hey Tonya!! Always look forward to your upload. There are so many trends. And it seems like hair growth was so simple years ago. We wave between hair products, DIY remedies, and methods. It’s so much 😅 like every new recipe is THE key. But, if we’re doing all of them, how do we know what’s actually working? That being said, it would be really cool to see how you’ve been caring for your hair 😁 and maybe your top 3-5 tips that you’ve personally see work with your hair. Love, this overwhelmed natural 😂
I have used onion juice as a prepoo and noticed good results. I sliced the onion & used cheesecloth to extract the juice. I have a low density scalp with even thinner hair in the crown. I also use coconut oil as a an overnight prepoo and have improved redults. Will have to go back to my onion juice prepoo. 😊
I have had great success with using coconut oil as a prepoo. I boost it w/ essential oil and keep in the fridge. Applying it in the solid state like grease is a game changer because it's not messy and is easier to apply. You also apply much less which also decreases the messiness and oil dripping during application.
@somethingspecial1415 I poured the oil into a reusable plastic container. The medium size one you would get with take out. So I have plenty left over and just put the rest back in the fridge when I'm done. I let it sit from 1 hour to overnight depending on how my wash day is going. My hair tangles easily, so I have to do a lot to detangle before washing.
I have had good results with green tea rinses. I apply after shampooing, let sit x 15 - 20 min w/ cap. Then I apply my D/C on top and let sit for my normal D/C time (adding the conditioner helps to destroy the moisture loss for tea rinses, it is drying but helps with shedding after only a few uses).
Today I came across this little health store with all the herbs I thought I would not find in SA! So I picked onion powder (amongst a lot of other things😂). I'm looking to add a little onion powder to coconut oil. I will apply it to my scalp when I prepoo my hair with coconut oil 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Thanks Tonya. Onion oil is a great DIY if you can stand the smell. But I stan it for some skin irritations, coz it worked on my baby. I have never really had to use conventional antifungals for her yet. Same for neem oil. For my hair, I am confused coz I have been on a DIY rampage. But I have been fairly consistent with fenugreek, hibiscus and cloves coz I drink it like tea and then blend up the leftovers for a prepoo if you will. My hair has been doing good, but I am also careful not to overuse.
Thank for (review) this💖📑 I used onion and results (2in more over 1 1/2month). I did blend and strain add aloe vera plus drops of peppermint, very happy but then became lazy.🤷 The onion method work for me!
I love onion and garlic everything, I use them in my diy hair oil. I do, dehydrate them first of course. I want to try onion water but I want to try my own onion that I’ve grown. So it’ll 😢 be next year for me. As far as a a diy that worked for me, I honestly don’t know. When I started my journey January 2019, I jumped in with both feet and tried several Ayurvedic herbs at once, like fenugreek, amla, aritha, henna, hibiscus, brahmi, shikaikai , neem( sorry for the misspelling of the herbs) and thru them together in a cocktail 🍸 of oils…. I think all of those helped.
If I use onion powder to make onion juice/oil/water, will it have the same benefits as an actual onion 🧅? I've been using clove, burdock root or saw palmetto with msm and my hair loves it, also saw palmetto, green tea & amla as a tea and my hair loves it. Both recipes as a tea, but the amla, saw palmetto & green tea as a oil too, with cloves and a few other herbs, AMAZING results from these recipes Also, I've tried aloe Vera and Cactus for a water and blended to use as a prepoo BAAAEBY AWESOME
Appreciate all your very informative videos. Could you please make a video about caring for natural high porosity hennaed hair? Also is Olaplex compatible with the previously mentioned hair type. Thanks for considering this topic.😊
Heey Tonya! 👏🏽👏🏽 Excited to try. Just made a batch using the boiling/blending/cheese cloth straining method for my daughter and I. Froze the leftovers for later. Can't believe this was your topic today as well. - great minds think alike. 😊
Thanks so much for sharing such an informative video. I learned even more about onions. I used onion oil and it really worked for me!! Thanks again God bless and stay safe 🙏🏾🥰🌺🦋
Thank You so much for this video and information I didn’t know all of the benefits of onion as it relates to our hair. I have tried the aloe Vera diy before and I noticed my hair was much more shiny, moisturized and curls were more defined.
I told you we are always learning something new with you. I tried the rice water, but the results did not match the amount of work put in!!! I’m gonna give this onion thing a try! Can we use any kind of onion, does that matter if it’s yellow, red, or white???🤮😡😂👀😱😃💯👍🏽❤️🙏🏽
It seems like the onion juice would have the highest concentration of polyphenols that are not diluted by water like in the onion water. Why do you prefer the water over the juice?
I tried onion juice for 3 months. It did nothing but stink out the house! The effects on my hair was zero and on friends of mine. Rice water on the other hand, the effect was instant. People need to understand that these natural DIYs do not necessarily work for everybody. Sometimes you just want to wash and fro! Some of these DIYs can take alot of work for very little effect. Don't get me wrong, I make my own hair oil and hair buuter/ grease but they last 6 months! I would love you to a program on the hair during menopause and male pattern baldness in older women please and what if anything you can do about it. Just a question from somebody and not a criticism, why do some people wash their hair in the kitchen? I live in Europe and it is not a practice here.
LOL That's a fair question because it would seem to be unsanitary. Maybe it is 🤷🏿♀️... but I must confess I do it sometimes. Depending on my schedule I don't wanna take a shower to wash, dry off and lotion, sit under dryer with deep conditioner, then hop back in the shower again to rinse, dry off again then lotion again. It's just easier. I only use the sink that I use to rinse dishes (garbage disposal side) and disinfect afterwards. Anyway, I'd like more info on hair and premenopausal. My hair has definitely gone thru some changes here recently. Trying the clove rinses now for 3 months then will try the onion water. 🤷🏿♀️
the water pressure seems to be higher in the sink. uses less water too. and overall just seems easier. I clean the sink first and dont let my hair touch it, and i think its fine.
Hey, I started my natural hair journey through your channel about a year ago i have 3b3c low porosity hair and have not used heat within this time period i have seen amazing results in length and curl pattern but now my hair is drying out so fast !! do you have any recommendations or specific focus points that can help me continue my growth journey
I simply love this channel!!! Thank you I was afraid to try onion but I'm going to consider after watching this. BTW...ACV Rinse is amazing, scalp and hair loving it. How often should you use ACV every wash or once a month?
Hey sis 👋🏿 I love my natural hair community. But ain't no way I'm putting onion in my hair.😂 I love onions!!! But, in my food😂 People gone think I'm musty... lol Just a lil fun 😂 I love rosemary water and I see great results with that on my edges because they are thin and I feel oils just weigh that part down so I use my rosemary oil in water and it feels and smell great. More importantly it's giving my edges life♥️ Love ya😘
@@im-dv no, I do not use the rosemary water everyday. I use it mostly on my moisturizing day which is 3-days after my wash day. Since I wash my hair bi-weekly I will spritz my hair maybe twice or three times before another wash day. You can use it everyday I don't see the harm in that it's just water.
If I blend/strain the onion juice do I use this method before or after shampooing? I would appreciate any response. Thank you. You and your family stay bless and healthy ✝️🙏🛐
Thank you. Question.. I have been soaking calendula flowers, lavender buds, and mint leaves in raw almond oil for two(2) months. Will that do anything for my hair/scalp?
Hi Tonya, So happy when I watch your videos. I was wondering your thoughts on Living Proof's Triple Bond Complex? I have High Porosity hair that I couldn't get to retain length - I'm talking couldn't get it stay moisturized no matter what I tried and I have a mall load of products!!! SMH. But I have noticed a significant improvement from breakage just after two weeks of using this product.
I have a child on Adderall for ADHD it has broken her hair off about 3 inches. Do you have any additional suggestions for this breakage due to medication?
Hi, I commented on another video of you speaking about sulfur 8. I would like to know which do u think is better for hair growth? Sulfur 8 or onion juice? I know I can add essential oils and what not, however I always smell a lingering of onion. I’ve even sweated it out from my pores after many days and many hair washing’s later lol.
Hello. I've used onion oil or water before. I did seem to start to grow my hair, however, my hair felt extremely dry after using it. Do you think it was because u left it in too long ? How can this be avoided- if possible?
Curious if others are no poo gals or use rhazouli clay or other ingredients to clean hair. Pros and cons to shampooing especially with hair loss and menopause dryness and breakage?
Hi i have low porosity 4c hair and i suffered some hairlose. My hair line also is has parches. Can i use onion juice everyday on my scalp or once a month?
