Weasel I ran up on your xr650 video an then the klr video. And ty for your vids. You helped me make up my mind on the kind of bike I want. I was first thinking of the xl650 but other vids kind of pushed me away from t thinking I'd want the crf450 but finding your vids helped me. Cause for one I live in oceana wv. I knew you was close to me cause of the mountains you ride on. Looks identical to were I ride. We're close to the same weight u and I'm 148 right now. I was also afraid of the weight of the 650. But I seen your videos and knew right of. That xr650 was my bike. I've rode bikes for 28 yrs and I've not rode any in the last 15 yrs. I am out of shape. And riding I think will get me back in shape. This is my wife's profile. But man if you ever ride my way. Let me know. I'll join u. Godbless brother ride hard but be safe.

Any tips on keeping my feet in the pegs? Get past the balance point and I throw my feet off backwards. I can ride wheelies at 70mph but can’t stay “behind “the balance point to like slow down……
@WheelieWeasel
@WheelieWeasel 4 месяца назад
It’s all reflex’s brotha! The best way I’ve found out how to is find a nice area where you aren’t gonna get hurt if/when you fall and pop it up in 1st and 2nd gear and focus on going as slow as possible. Another way is to find a nice little slop uphill. start off in 1st gear and do clutch ups from a dead stop with your left foot off the peg and on the ground while your right foot is on the peg to cover the brake. Focus on going as far back as possible without looping then tap the brake when you get to that loop point. Keep doing this until your completely comfortable with being far back then start doing it with both feet on the pegs. Keep in mind you wanna start off from a dead stop and pop it up almost like an enduro rider does a 180 to turn around when in a tight spot. Slow wheelies are hard in my opinion but they’re the best way to learn to keep your feet on the pegs and covering the brake.

I’m 12 and 5’7 and I wheelie my full size 250 and 450 and I still wheelie in 2 to third and then sometimes I get to 4th sometimes but my bikes are custom so there really torque so I can wheelie mostly without clutch so that helps
@WheelieWeasel
@WheelieWeasel 4 месяца назад
I can pop all the 250/450 bikes up without the clutch too but it’s a lot harder to get to balance point fast enough without chasing the wheelie. Usually bikes with a lot more torque are way harder to ride wheelies on because you can’t cruise at the balance point because you’ll always be chopping the throttle. Power wheeling is easy to do on 250/450 bikes because that all have motocross gearing, add an exhaust and it has extra torque so it’s almost impossible to not wheelie. Gotta learn to control it rather than just letting the bike do the work

@WheelieWeasel

All in throttle control, brake control and seating position. It could be anything causing your balance to be off. Make sure you’re centered on the seat and not being too hard on the throttle or brakes but not being too easy at the same time

So I'm not on this level yet I just came across this video but u shift without using the clutch? I've never heard of they even if just for wheelies. So what's the point of the clutch then other than not stalling when stopped? Genuine question bc this just confuses me thx
@WheelieWeasel
@WheelieWeasel 3 месяца назад
You don’t exactly need the clutch to shift it all situations. Shifting without the clutch is called speed shifting, you do it by getting the engine to a certain rpm range so that the gear will shift smoothly without the clutch. It takes a little time to get used to but it helps in things like wheelies or racing. When you race if you take the time to pull in the clutch with each shift you’ll be slower than Someone banging gears and speed shifting. The only reason you need to do it on wheelies is when you pull in that clutch the front end will drop fast if you can’t shift fast enough, when you speed shift the front end doesn’t have time to drop so it’s easier to keep it up.
@fasterthunder8308
@fasterthunder8308 3 месяца назад
@@WheelieWeasel ah I see thank u for answering. So would speed shifting be considered beating on the bike. Will it affect it in the long term at ALL?
@WheelieWeasel
@WheelieWeasel 3 месяца назад
@@fasterthunder8308 a lot of people say it don’t and some say it will. I’ve had a lot of bikes over the years and I’ve never had a bike mess up over it. As long as you ain’t shoving it into gear it’ll be okay. It should shift just as smooth as it would when pulling in the clutch. A step by step way is speed up like normal, get the RPM to the shift range (higher rpm), let off the gas and at the same time shift then get back on the gas. Should just go right into the gear no problem

there's no need to clutchless shift, if one day you mess up a clutchless shift on a wheelie I bet you would have preffered to learn to change gears with clutch on a wheelie, its not hard and way preferable

@doria500 3 месяца назад
yes, if you never mess up it will be fine, me, I just prefer to use the clutch most of the time
@WheelieWeasel
@WheelieWeasel 3 месяца назад
anyone who actually knows how to wheelie clutchless shifts, Watch any video. Also that’s your opinion and completely subjective. It’s preferable by you but is it easier, no. Also miss shifting without the clutch does nothing but slip back into the gear you was trying to shift out of. Also shifting with a clutch is not hard but for a beginner it’s not easy. On a bike with less power the second you pull in the clutch the front tire drops hard unless you shift really fast. For example a 150 or a 230 which is what a lot of my viewers ride. They would not be able to shift using a clutch unless they’ve already learned how to go way far back almost passed balance point to shift.
@doria500
@doria500 3 месяца назад
@@WheelieWeaselso you saying I cant wheelie? I seem to wheelie better than you since you cant even seem to hit balance point and stay in the same gear, and I only or mostly clutch shift during my wheelies, what now? also if you mess up a clutchless shift you can and will probably fuck up your transmission, no need for that, also if you're not hitting balance point then why are you shifting gears? you're only gaining more speed and endangering yourself since you clearly cant control your bike if you cant hit balance point... I'll just say this, yes you can clutchless shift, no you should not learn to wheelie that way, it incentivises you to always try to catch the wheelie instead of controling it by going to the balance point and mastering the brake. also this comes from a guy who's only started wheeling in december last year, when I got my bike, clearly my strategy seems better...
@WheelieWeasel
@WheelieWeasel 3 месяца назад
I literally said that clutchless shifts are easier than speed shifts that’s why beginners should do it and also that’s why all these stunt riders don’t use a clutch. Also I’ve miss shift hundred of times on hundreds of different bikes and never had issue. If your transmission messes up from a few miss shifts it was bound to blow. Also I never said you couldn’t wheelies lmao if I was saying you couldn’t wheelie I’d outright say it. Also go watch my 150r videos if you think I can’t drop back, coast, do one handers, downshift and slow down on a wheelie and all of the above lol. I 110% can. The reason I don’t do it in my newer videos is all my newer videos I’m only trying to get high resolution footage and good angles. If I was to drop back and stay in one gear past balance point on the brake the viewers would only be able to see the seat and that’s it lol. Who wants to tune into a video where all you see is a seat and barely any road, no one. In all my videos I’m on balance point lol the only reason I’m shifting is because I want to gain speed and ride a faster wheelie, it looks better on camera. Slow wheelies past balance point on a chin cam look like crap. Also this isn’t a stunting channel lol. I literally just get bikes, ride in the woods, ride wheelies, do top speed runs then trade it and do it all over again. Find me proof where I claim to be the best, fastest or greatest dirt bike rider ever lol. I’m only here to provide entertainment and laughs not coach people into becoming SBFCs lol. @@WheelieWeaselI said that because you said "anyone that actually knows how to wheelie clutchless shifts", not true, the rest, I understand, my point is: teaching people to clutchless whelie will just make them power wheelie and always try to catch it, if you can't clutch shift in a wheelie, you should not be clutchless shifting in a wheelie, just shows you don't have enough control over the bike, not saying "you" exactly, also whenever I just shift up in my wheelies liek you did in the video (low rpms) I tend to lose speed and not gain it but whatever might just be me, anyways, just to reiterate my point, dont learn to shift without the clutch on wheelies, there is a minimal but still real possibility you might blow your transmission, and learning to do it wont help you in the long run. to end my rant, I don't like to teach people shortcuts, even more shortcuts that dont actually help, if they want to learn wheelies, teach them to find balance point, to brake and to drop back, way safer, way cooler to experience and watch and will save some people from wrecking their bike because they were trying to catch a wheelie at 60mph+
