have to laugh, my almost 2yr old Corso is extremely low energy. a 20min walk and he is ready to go home to sleep for the day. such a giant lazy pup. I call him my giant marshmallow, he looks and sounds scary but give him a few min and he's a giant softy. best breed!

My dogs scares the sh1t out of strangers coming to the house to do work and he seems like he wants to rip their heads off. Then, like the flick of a switch, I tell him it’s okay and to sit and he’s totally calm and won’t move whether I leave the door open or am walking them around the house. He won’t quit barking and growling as long as they’re here, but only until I tell him it’s okay. They’re so clever.

People if your corso hasn’t been trained on protection that barking is fear not confidence, they might shit themselves if forward pressure is actually added, that dude who said they won’t stand down till the owner says, is a joke!!!

I'm having a hard time finding a Cane Corso.

I researched for 2 years prior to selecting a breeder. Went to lots of dog shows too to acquaint myself with the breeders. We settled on Northwoods Corsos out of ID. Castle Guard Kennels in CO is another breeder. These two breeders were my top 2. Northwoods specifically breeds for certain genetic traits and temperament. Alyxandria, the owner, sets on the AKC Board for Corsos and genetic health. She knows her stuff and I could not be happier with the quality of the dog we selected. He’s a BIG boy at just over 2 yrs and is 157 pounds. He was also trained by a local kennel that trains our local military & LEO K-9’s. Training is of utmost importance as these dogs must know who their leader is and must respond to commands the first time. That said, our boy is an attention hound and thinks he’s a lap dog. 😂

Any tips on gettinnng my 5 and half month old male cane corso sancus to stop trying to eat everything he see's when out on walks and why he ends up practically trying to attack me after so many corrections with the lead
@C8guy84
@C8guy84 2 года назад
Yup same here. Big mistake getting ours, probably going back to the breeder. If they wont let there owners correct them from eating stuff off the ground, imagine what they'll do to a stranger. Some dogs are just effed up in the head.

@@C8guy84 and your the guy that didn’t do his research properly on the breed and now you want a refund 😕 man up and teach the dog, do some research on the breed rather than give up 🤦🏼‍♀️

What correction are you using?
@C8guy84

@@loveofrap575 Not new to dogs, big or aggressive dogs. Have had great danes and boxers all my life, one boxer was super aggressive actually bit my neighbor, but was never ever towards me or my pack even as a puppy they learned early that we were off limits. This guy at 5 months old, and after 6 professional puppy training classes, months of hours a day training at home continues to bite my wife and my 10 year old, even after trying nearly everything our trainer has recommended to get him to stop. My 10 year old wants nothing to do with him and I dont blame him. He is super smart will give him that, sit, stay, wait, play dead, threshold manners 100%, kennel up on command, potty trained 100%, will not eat or drink until given command (had food aggression early), signals to outside for bathroom, speaks on command and much more. And forget trying to keep him from eating bad things from the yard, as he will take your finger off. Our breeder has a return policy for as long as we own the dog as they should (paid 4 grand for him and is from a champion bloodline) and is concerned as well, so no not giving up on him, but cant have a walking liability living in my house. As he is only 55 lbs now and manageable but in a year might be another story. Not all people who give dogs back/up etc are bad owners or are giving up, sometimes a dog is not a bad dog just not a good fit for a certain home. And no, no refund wanted, just want the dog happy and may not be with us.

@@C8guy84 Understandable. If the dog is attacking your family members then something is wrong. From my understanding from what you have wrote your Corso just like many others likes to impress you and listens to commands and see's you as the boss, training is very simple with these dogs if you understand them and teach them from day 1. Attacking your family members is never a good sign I've had 2 Corso's now from different breeders and they like to do nothing but impress with even at times no reward (treats) but just praise. With this breed they are very protective of their family members growling, or barking at neighbours/people on walks they do instinctively this is something if you don't want to happen you need to teach from day 1 yes this can be taught later down the road but I always recommend training as soon as you get a dog such as the Corso. I would like to know more about the biting does he show his teeth, try to dominate or is it just a nipping? what training classes did you take? I would look into specific training for a dog such as the Corso, someone who has experience with the breed and knows what exactly is going on.

I physically can’t speak to my last battle from Stage 4 Vocal Cord Cancer but I’ve always wanted one of these dog’s but would you think that would be wise??? Just curious???

I can't comment on everyone's cane corso... but my 4 month old has basic commands sit stay down and all are hand signals... which he pays closer attention to the verbal commands.... These dogs are very intelligent or at least mine is. But my pup is also very food driven. He learned a slip lead within two days... now I have to still practice with him. But either way I believe you would be happy with him/her... by the way the way my pup is corrected i use a squirt bottle of water... he sees my hand reaching for the bottle and he stops what he's doing lol

Both of mine know hand signals in addition to vocal commands. I think if you can vocalize a sound for “yes” and “no” and find a trainer that will work with you, I do think it is possible. Also, daily physical activity is a must. A tired dog is a happy dog.
@gingerkittyos
@gingerkittyos 2 года назад
Absolutely. @khan.canecorso listens to hand signals. I followed Fenrir's perfect puppy course and through operant conditioning you could reinforce and correct with no verbal commands. I bring my boy to to bank, grocery store, work, everywhere with me and he's very responsive with the hand signals when we need to be quiet.

no dog can win over a healthy leopard in 1v1 but real purubred corsos never back down, they will fight to death for their owners
