The 30.06 is one the best versatile rounds out there. Brush to three hundred yards, it is wonderful. It also has tremendous options for bullet size and FPS.

I doubt that I am the only one that has harvested deer with all those calibers , and then a lot of other calibers also ,, they all work good ,,they all shoot plenty accurate,,they all are fun to shoot ,, so just use what ya got and be proud of it.

Killed my first deer in '67 with 6.5x55 Sweedish Mauser 430 yd. They all work. My favorite is..... no surprise.... 6.5 Creedmoor. But I own and love 308 and 30-06. And there are situations where I would prefer those.

Here’s an idea 💡 for ya take a 2 quart plastic pop bottle and cut the top off stuff it full of clay lay it on its side and shoot it up the open clay end and see how it explodes! At that close a range the destruction of the flags blocks is not that surprising. At 100 yards might have been a better comparison. Well maybe 50 yards with the 30-30, those iron sights may be hard to hit the clay at 100.

If I was looking for a rifle caliber that would get a deer down and put more venison in the freezer and less blood shot meat in the dog food bowl I would choose....300 blackout! Great video.
