300 HAM'R is Bill Wilson's creation. Thanks Bill! 💯💯💯😁😁😁👍👍👍

I hog hunt with the 300 HAM'R. Sometimes I'll harvest a deer as well. Out of my 16" barrel, the terminal ballistics of the Speer 150 BTSP are incredible. It's really an amazing development for the AR15 platform. I reload to Bill Wilson's specs using 300BLK powder. Not expensive and accurate within 1 MOA.

It's a pretty incredible cartridge and really optimizes the AR platform for hunting!

You're wrong about the 300 Ham'r not being effective with shorter barrels. In addition to being great as a 16" rifle, it is also very effective in the 8" with 1:11.25 twist, or 11.3" with 1:13 twist.

I was going to bring this up. A 11.3" 300 HAMR shoots about the same velocity as a 16" 300 blackout. Much more effective cartridge

I really considered the 300 but ended up going with a 16” ruger SFAR. So far no regrets.

I plan on doing a 300 ham'r build focusing on 125 gr projectiles out of a 16 inch carbine id love it to at least have a chf chrome lined barrel with 5r rifling not looking for a precision build but long-term durability, as well as a few other things that interest me.

This cartridge is more powerful than 7.62x39 and 300 blackout along with 6.8 spc. It uses the same 5.56 casing so itd be easy to implement in our current rifle systems. Bill Wilson gave us the ultimate AR combat cartridge. 7.62x40 perfected! Its almost as powerful as a .308, but you can EASILY pack 30 rounds in standard 300 blackout magazines. .300 HAM'R is absolutely the future of AR combat cartridges. People just need to wake the hell up and realize it!!! We can use this thing in regular current issue AR rifles, civilian and military alike. All it takes is a barrel swap and using 300 blackout specific magazines and BOOM!! Youve got the ultimate if it aint broke, dont fuck with it, made even better rifle. Maybe get some companies making ammo for it and it'll get cheaper, maybe get true velocity to make polymer casings for it too!
@DaveSmith-cp5kj
@DaveSmith-cp5kj 3 месяца назад
I'd argue it is not more powerful than x39. The issue is more that most comparisons is fairly weak cheap loaded x39. When you load it as hot as x40, x39 will have slightly more energy in the same size barrel. However, it is much more compact. A 40 round mag of x40 is the same size as a 30 round mag of x39. One of the best things about 300 hamr is like blackout it works well with cast bullets, so it is super cheap to shoot in comparison to other cartridges.

I share your love for the 300 Ham’r but there is no way it’s more powerful than the 6.8 SPC. 6.8 is still king in the AR15 platforms for hogs but the 300 Ham’r is a close second.
@ChargerusPrime
@ChargerusPrime Месяц назад
@@ckhughes117 incorrect. Ballistics numbers and energy transfer doesn't lie. The 6.8 may have a higher BC bullet and may buck the wind better to a certain degree, but 300 ham'r is just as powerful if not more so. It's more powerful than 7.62x39 and has far greater potential for use as a military cartridge than 6.8. The 6.8 is good, but it's not the best. Bill Wilson himself created .300 ham'r because he wasn't happy with anything else including 6.8 SPC.
@DaveSmith-cp5kj
@DaveSmith-cp5kj Месяц назад
@@ckhughes117 The biggest issue with 6.8SPC is that while it is a great round, it is only powerful because it is larger and you lose 5 rounds per mag. At that point you might as well just jump to 308 or 6.8CM. If you could argue a 5 round reduction is not significant, then another 5 rounds also shouldn't, especially for the energy gain.

I do own a 300 Hamr from Wilson combat and the accuracy of this weapon continues to blow my mind, I would compare it to magic or how wireless internet and Bluetooth just works and I have no clue how, but hats off to Bill Wilson. Guys a legend in my book.

I hate to bust your bubble thinking you obtained an uncommonly accurate rifle, but I own 2 Wilson combat made rifles and I have four rifles with Wilson Combat made barrels in different calibers. They all shoot like that , all Wilson Combat barrels are advertised Match Grade, and all mine live up to it. Great for hunting but they can be a little boring if you are just a range shooter because once sited in they just keep shooting through the same hole every time you go to the range.

Assuming free range brass-$.56 a round reloaded. Not factoring in dies (neglible over the lifetime or reloading)

300 HAMR is ideal for reloading you shouldn't be buying the ammo. It's decently powder efficient for the output, and works with cast bullets.

Not to be a jerk. But not worth comparing. They don’t run in the same platform. 6.8spc, 7.62x39, 5.56, 300bo, even something like 6arc and 6.5 Grendel are all in the same realm as 300hamr. Those would be worth comparing.

GOING HAM - on DOBBIE
@kcstott

while true that a faster twist will require more energy to get down the barrel, it's misleading. you would not be able to measure the velocity difference. the reason for the slower twist is that is what it needs for the velocity. the faster you push a projectile that slower the twist needed to stabilize it. it's a matter of bullet length and RPM and theres your answer Revolutions per Minute not per. Not inches per rev. The Blackout needs the faster twist because it is slower and it's designed to support a very heavy subsonic bullet. Its a one size fits all round where the Ham'R is optimised for performance.
@jorgesolis9468
@jorgesolis9468 4 месяца назад
Bullet length also matters 300 blk was intended for the 110-220 gr loads 300 hmr is intended for 90-150 gr loads

@jorgesolis9468

@@kcstott but revolution per inch matters also because it's what pairs with velocity and bullet length to help stabilize
@SmokindaBlues
@SmokindaBlues 3 месяца назад
Per Bill Wilson himself.......... 1:13 twist rate gives a 110 gr bullet more stability at longer ranges whereas the same 110gr bullet out of a 300 Blk will be tumbling.
@jorgesolis9468
@jorgesolis9468 3 месяца назад
@@SmokindaBlues when did he say that because it wouldnt make sense since tumbling is having to do with under stabilization so slow twist with heavy bullet not slow twist rate with light bullets

The factory guns are pricy but you can buy a 300 HAMR barrel from Wilson combat for $250ish and build your own. If you reload you can convert .223 or 5.56 brass over to load.

@@ARFCOMReviews actually ... exactly the same. 30-30 - 24" bbl = hornady american white tail 150 grain = 2390 fps / 1902 fpe. 300 ham'r - 18" bbl = hornady sst 150 grain 300 = 2300 fps / 1762 fpe take 6 inches of barrel length from the 30=30 ... and the ham'r might actually be faster with more energy.
