Great stuff boys… the tuff rok mud flaps have made a big difference for me since adding my spacers. I don’t think you would regret that upgrade

Love the look with the spacers on and tires standing out wider.Really makes the Rover look tougher to me. I want to do that to mine now. I have a 2010 LR4 HSE. Probably going to be doing Atlantic/British heavy haul coil spring conversion at some point. The wonderful air suspension at 129,800 miles is no doing the rover sag HAHA To defeat that for now I did what a few other guys have done and set the rover at its highest point and then went under the hood and pulled the EAS fuse to lock it in place. Can't use it but it's high no so not worried about that.Once I switch out to couls I want have anymore anyways so not a big deal. I want like 33 or 34 inch tires on it and the spacers also so should be fun and exciting when I get to doing that stuff. Great video really enjoyed it and just subscribed.

Great Stuff! Been following you for a few months now and I've learned quite a bit from you for my newly acquired D3. Here in Texas land is 98% privately owned so it's tough to find a spot to off-road.

I will only install spacers to correct a wheel offset, not to add offset. Kinda like my bearings...

Hello, I mounted the wheelspacers already 7-8 years ago a whole other story 10 times better ! and then I mounted the steel wheel bolts that I recommend, so you avoid deforming those hateful LR bolts, every time you remove a wheel !! greetings disco drivers

Thanks for the vid. Might do my D4 some day. Any reason you don't lock it at the lowest (access) height and then jack it up? Whenever I take mine to get wheels changed they do this.. However the book does say to do it on the highest level - which is what you've done and I do as well? I assume it's only purpose is to stop people lowering the vehicle down onto obstacles?
@JayTeeCars
@JayTeeCars 2 года назад
Good question... I know a lot of people also jack off the arm and allow the air suspension to lift the wheel. I normally just find it easier to pop on max height as it makes it easier to work on/under the vehicle.

i put blue thread locker om mine as the nuts holding the spacers on dont look safe and the side of the disco is dirty all the time but they do look good

Hi Jay. I have 255/70 R18 on and have just put 30mm spacers on, but it is rubbing on the wheel arch. Any recommendation on how to fix that, please? Thank you.
@williambarrows8952
@williambarrows8952 2 года назад
@jaytee Great video. Any extra or less tire rub at full lock? Also, separate question, do you (or anyone) know of an updated rear hatch strut to support a ladder better? I added a front runner ladder to my LR4 and the boot is much harder to open now. Thanks!!!!
@JayTeeCars
@JayTeeCars 2 года назад
Hi William, Yes we found the added spacers caused a very slight rub at the front of the front wheel arch/bumper bottom when at nearly full lock, I only found this after the video and resolved by shaving about 5mm off bottom of arch/bumper. On the hatch strut, I am not 100% sure but think you can buy a higher rated set of struts (just check they are the same length). I don't have a ladder but replaced the struts a while back as they were lazy in the cold, it now takes your nose off if you don't watch it when opening.
@thehamachekco9132
@thehamachekco9132 2 года назад
Maxpow was a recommend rear hatch strut brand. But their selection is shirking, they may be going/out of business. Either way, there are struts you can install with great lift.

Good video. However two issues number one all wheel nuts should be started by hand to stop the chance of getting a crossed thread, number two when using a torque wrench it should be done in slow steady motion you shouldn't need to bounce it other than that good content looking forward to the next one.

I put 30mm spacers on my LR3, I could see the same negative camber increase with my eye... and now after ~1 month there is a noticeable inner wear on both axes, should I align all wheels to manufacture setups? Or due to increased reaction arm on the wheels factory setups won't work??

I was thinking of putting some very good quality hub centric 30mm wheel spacers from Terrafirma same as in this video on my landrover discovery 4 BUT I keep on hearing that they will mess up my bearings! Is this true. I will not go off roading but just city and motorway driving.
@JayTeeCars

They will accelerate wear on the wheel bearings a bit, but not to a level that I would worry about.

I do not trust these devices, it seems to me that with so many holes, the aluminum alloy part is too fragile. I'm afraid one day to see my wheel rolling next to me xD
@JayTeeCars
@JayTeeCars 2 года назад
I must admit I had similar thoughts, I think and hope with the branded products they are tested and of good quality. The ones I fitted felt substantial. Fingers crossed I don't see one of the wheels overtaking me one day!
@blazej9259
@blazej9259 9 месяцев назад
a better option is to use rims from a BMW X3 or X5, there is a large selection of cheap rims that widen the wheel track. The nuts should then be replaced.
@typhoon-7
@typhoon-7 2 года назад
STOP!!!! The biggest issue here is it look like you short bolted the spacer on. @6:30 you can see the stud isn't right through the nut. The male thread isn't long enough. That's a huge no no!! The male thread isn't long enough on the vehicle. You should have at least two fully formed threads protruding above the nut surface. The first thread is a run in and isn't manufactured to be fully load bearing. In this case you could have one thread fail by fatigue (and you wouldn't know because the nut you can see will still feel tight.... Only its attached to the spacer not the hub!). Once one has failed the load will be shared between the remaining ones and eventually the wheel will be at risk of detaching and taking the spacer with it. This is a very poor design. Trust me if you want a better stance, recycle these things into something useful like Coke cans and buy wheels with a more negative offset. And don't start threading nuts with the gun. Lead them on by hand. Personally I'd just replace the wheels with ones with a bigger offset. You eliminate the extra interface (which can cause bolt preload loss) and also make sit easier to check security of wheel nuts. Otherwise you have to remove the wheel and check twice the number of fasteners as with a different wheel. Yes bearing life will (on paper) have a slightly harder life but u less the offset change is over 30mm I'd suggest the way you drive has a bigger effect on bearing life. The nut issue is a far more significant safety issue, a bearing is a reliability issue. I'm a chartered engineer. Although I have worked on the railway for nearly 20 years, I've been a design engineer with Aston Martin and McLaren F1 team. The principles of bolted joints are the same whether its a car, train or washing machine. Unless the video editing has hidden something I would caution you against keeping these things on. Put it this way if anyone in my depots did this on a train I would not let it enter passenger service.
@JayTeeCars
@JayTeeCars 2 года назад
Hi, what you can't really see in the video the nuts are long and they recess into the spacer. Each bolt had at least 5 full threads. This is the same design used on all the spacers I have seen and reported back from others with good reliability.
