@bluedogboardgames great video. And what a year!. I am happy that I found your channel this year. It was fun watching your channel grow. When playing board games becomes more of a "job", it seems to take the fun out of it. So, you do you and we will be along for the ride and continue watching your channel grow. The main thing is, have fun. You are a breath of fresh air in this board game hobby.
A game every day is such an accomplishment! I love games but there are many days I don’t have the energy to get out even a small one. I’d love to see you go more in depth with the games you already have. Your playthroughs are my very favorites and I’d watch you play the same games over and over again 😊
Thank you so much for your kind comments! Squire for Hire was my go-to tiny game when I felt like that; hardily any setup and over in 10 minutes! Managed to keep the challenge going through the worst days haha!
Congrats on completing both challenges and what was, at least for this viewer, a really successful year! I was glad to find you early on in my re-entry into the hobby, this time as a mostly solo gamer. I think we have similar tastes, and it's been great to see so many games I'm interested in from a solo perspective. fwiw the thing I enjoy the most about your channel is that it really feels like we are getting to ride along with you as you explore games you are interested in and like. So your plans make a lot of sense to me and sound great, a focus on keeping a pace that helps ensure you still enjoy making these videos, and diving deeper into your own collection to get to know the games you love. And to me that also means I'm happy to see more video game content if that's where your interests go for a bit, or things get a little quieter, etc. One of my favorite creators is JonGetsGames, and specifically his Opinions episodes he does for his Patreon, where he talks through games he's played, both new and older games he's revisiting, tracking how his opinions change or shift over multiple plays. So would love to see you do further playthroughs of games you've covered and sharing any changing thoughts. And definitely love the idea of seeing you explore different fan-made automas and solo mode variants from BGG and the like.
Thank you so much for your insight, it's so helpful to understand what is working and what isn't working so well, there's so much I want to cover so it helps to focus on where I want the channel to go! I'm glad you're along for the ride ☺️ I've seen JonGetsGames' channel around actually but have to admit have never watched! 😬 His format does look interesting so thanks for the recommendation, I will have a closer look! (He has so many videos!!! 🤩😱😂). I really appreciate your continued support! 🥰
@@bluedogboardgames Yeah he has done so so so many rules teach videos! But I appreciate that his rule teaches are full playthroughs. And the playthroughs with friends he has on the channel are often entertaining. You can get a sense of his Patreon Opinions episodes, which are what I love, from his Games of the Month videos the last few months. I never remember to say anything about games I've been playing even though you ask in each vlog! But I got Hallertau thanks to your playthrough and really really enjoyed that one. Such a cool table presence, and a fun puzzle. I'm about to start a learning game of Obsession today at some point as well. But my favorite new to me game the last month was Wayfarers of the South Tigris. Mostly play it two handed to learn how it all fits together, but the solo automa seems good once I have a better handle on strategy.
Happy New Year as well! Don't know about that, you're all wonderful in being here for me! It's so appreciated!! Wishing you many happy hours of gaming this year! 🥰🤩
Happy New Year, Rhiannon! Congrats on challenges. I've really enjoyed some of your videos and have purchased two games, La Granja and Grand austria hotel, after watching your plays--loving them both. Thank you.
Between christmas and new year I was feeling the same about wanting to go a bit more in depth into the games in my collection rather than trying to play as many different things as possible. In service of that I've decided to try doing a 3x3 challenge each month in 2024, so picking 3 games each month and playing each one at least 3 times each. I'm hoping it will give me more insight into the games on my shelves rather than everything being a "one and done".
Oh that's a really nice idea! I've heard of lots of people doing the 10X10 but that always sounded quite a lot to me so 3X3 per month seems like a nice compromise! So far taking my time on my games has felt really refreshing - I've had one game on my table for nearly 3 weeks now just to really take my time to enjoy it :)
I hear you about "the cult of the new." My husband and I are going to try and play as many of the games that we already own in 2024 (although I do have a few Kickstarter games that have not delivered yet on the horizon at some point) rather than buying a bunch of new ones. I hope a play through of Bitoku is coming at some point. I own the game but have yet to get it to the table. I need to try Turing Machine, which I do not own, but it is available for play on BGA. Glad to see you were so captivated by it. Congratulations on succeeding at your 365 days of gaming! I am looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings.
Thank you so much! I have heard quite a few people also take this stance of giving their games a bit more attention, I'm enjoying it so far! Bitoku hasn't left my table for nearly 3 weeks now and it's refreshing to just take my time to enjoy it. You'll be pleased to know I filmed a playthrough of Bitoku today (lost quite badly however, but still great fun!). Hopefully that will be up within the next couple of weeks.
Hey Rhiannon - Happy New Year, and congratulations on 1k subs! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that you’ll focus on your good games - whatever the age - rather than the new, or the cool, or FOMO, or the latest Kickstarter. That’ll keep me watching throughout 2024 (and hopefully a long time afterwards) :-). Thanks again for everything you’re doing!
And a very happy New Year to you too Sean! I'm so glad that you are interested in that, it seems a lot of people are from what I see and hear! It's so refreshing actually to just take a step back and enjoy everything in that much more depth! Really appreciate your continued support 🤩🥰
