Eleven months later, I am still using these foam squares. They have held up fine left outside. I have used them all over my backyard range. Once I learned to rub a bar of soap across the first several inches of the arrow shafts, the arrows are easily removed. I really prefer them to the many bag targets that I have. They are really self healing and I staple archery target faces to them and hang tennis balls from them. A great score. Thanks again. I also cut one down to make smaller targets to set around the yard. Great fun.
Thats the same stuff that the "original" 2D targets were made of. There is a glue that will "weld" the edges together like one piece. I used sheets of it to make squares like you bought for practice with a pretty fast compound back in the day and the stuff holds up really well. I will admit that pulling arrows can be an experience. To help, I had an old plastic film roll canister with holes in the top and bottom affixed to my range belt. Filled it with cotton and sprayed that with armor all. Shafts came out much easier and did not shoot through
Back in the 1990's there was a company that sold those with a replaceable center section with a black bullseye. It also had legs made from aluminum rod. It was a light weight, portable target that would stop aluminum arrows in a heart beat.
Greg, nice target for shooting bare shafts you see the shaft flying down range with that white background. Shows up good if shafts are tailing left or right. I see where you shooting partner is matching bows with you :-). Now you two will have to decided if your going to match up or mis match lol. Hope to see more thank you.
Very nice find indeed. I'm probably going to buy some, it's going to be different from the Interlocking Foam Mat that I get from different places. A link or any references will be kind. Take care. :-)
I use p.e foam 2.4 pcf and Eva foam pcf 4.4 high density..p.e foam size 60cmx60cmx20cm thickness..eva 50cmx50cmx8cm thickness..if i use eva foam..must put the arrow lube..bcoz i use thin shaft 0.166"..deeper penetrate,if not put the lube..its very hard to pulling out an arrow even using arrow puller..
Can anyone recommend a strong adhesive for gluing this stuff together? I was about to try Weldwood contact cement, but thought I'd ask if anyone found a really good durable brand.
