She’s obviously into him, but she’s not ready for a relationship though. Therefore, when Damon acts like an overprotective boyfriend she doesn’t appreciate it and tells him to back off. Then, he gets mad and distances himself. Then, she gets upset because he’s being rude and distant. Thus, that cycle goes on for some time.

Have you ever noticed that she is only seriously irritated by Damon when Stefan is around.. whenever he's gone they can have good and enjoyable time together..when she LETS it happen. she chooses to get irrateted when it's not even needed. she doesn't let herself just feel what she wants around him which is safe and happy. like episode 3x10 WHOLE episdoe she was nice and sweet to Damon. THAT is how she really feels about him. When she's not being stuck up his one liners make her smile.

Stefan helps her to live with what she feels..makes it livable.. while Damon makes it so what seh feels don't weigh her down he lifts them off of her..and he consumes her making all of her problems seem so small.. Stefan saves her emotionally... and Damon saves her physically.. and also changes her. Stefan and Elena can stay who they are with each other... while Damona and elena Grow together.

He actually does let her make discisions...first he's like HELL NO..then she starts exxplainin and beggin and pleadin and then he's like ok you can do it as long as i'm there to protect you.. and most of time he only doesn't let her make her own dicisions when they will get her killed. They did not change because of Stefan! they may have grown closer in his absense but Stefan actions didn't change anyone. As for loving eachother regardless of what happens.. Damon and Elena have that too.

Yeah and apparently one of my comments made the top and I know I said that the world doesn't revolve around Elena (which is true) but I think she was right here. I mean I was really pissed at what she said to Damon and how she called him via phone and said "he had to forgive her at some point", and that's pretty much why I put that. Damon killed Elena's brother...and not only did Jeremy forgive him (on top of that Alaric,Damon and Elena seem almost like a family ie scene were damon compelled him about denver) but Elena still managed not to be able to push him out of her heart/life.. no matter WHAT Damon does the way she feels for him is so rooted in her and she cares so deeply for him that she can not give up on saving him from himself. She feels the same way about stefan.. Delena can be compared to Stelena equally.

and in fact they also accept each other for who they are.. Elena's wishy washy self and Damon's self destructivness they both accept eachother's faults and flaws and love each other anyway. the thing about the how could she is that it is already in motion it's already happened. It's illogical it's not because he always does/says the right thing and fights of darkness like Stefan it's simply because he's Damon.

damon suffocates her, he never lets her make her own decisions. damon & elena changed b/c of stefan's actions, everyone changed & matured it wasn't just damon & elena. stefan & elena love each other for who they are, isn't that what you're suppose to do? love each other regardless of what happens? they'll constantly bump heads on a lot of situations which is making elena's decision harder, i do think she loves him but at the same time it's like how could she when he keeps pushing her to the edge
