Rebecca Goodnight I have seen numerous stelena arguments and the conclusion that I gathered is no matter how arguments are represented they will still hold on to their narrative. Even if the argument is congruent. I don’t understand why hold on to something that dome by the end of season 2. I am watching the show for the 4th time now. But this time I am doing it excruciatingly slow to pay attention to those details. Most of those things that worked against Delena were actually a good thing because it answers questions about Elena choice and Delena relationship. . For example, season 3 finale when Elena choose Stephan. Elena was conflicted making her choice. If she loved Stephan wholeheartedly making that choice would have been easy without any complications. Secondly, she told Damon that if they would have meet first things would have been different. Now what does that statement implies: Elena felt she had an obligation toward Stephan. She said that she meet him at a time she need it after her parents die and fell for him instantly. From experience traumatic events leaves a person vulnerable and Elena was vulnerable when she meet Stephan and it made it easier for her to fall for Stephan. I always considered their love to be that of high school sweethearts. It was safe and immature. With Damon on the other hand, their relationship is more mature, passionate ,exciting and with problems to overcome. I saw a great quote on RU-vid that explain the differences between Stephan and Damon being with Elena: “ a ship in a harbor is safe..... but that’s not what ships are made for..... Stephan is Elena’s harbor BUT DAMON is her ocean” I was speechless when I saw that quote. It couldn’t be more true. I will get the name of the person who wrote that quote to give much-deserved credit.

The Vampire Diaries Crybaby actually you need a reality check, when they got together Alaric said 'you finally got the girl' he was happy for Damon, and bonnie loved them together too, he tried to keep elena alive and bonnie liked that, Damon and bonnie were best friends she supported him, jeremy later on accepted that elena was with damon, only Caroline, Lexi and Jenna liked elena with stefan, Rebekah didn't care, neither did klaus, do some research or rewatch the seasons. And if you rewatch this episode rose tells Jeremy to tell Damon 'I'm rooting for him and elena'.

Rose understood Damon. She saw all of him and accepted him without judgement. This is why she’s able to see the good in him and how good he is for Elena. Yes- I’m rewatching clips to fill the void!

I love how Rose, even when she was alive, realised there was something between them, she told Damon she knew he was in love with her even when she hadn't known them long, and now being a ghost she can see everything that people like Jeremy don't see, like the good sides of Damon, and the bad sides, and she still would choose Damon. & I wish Rose came back to life to tell Elena all this.:D

Wow writers, I'm impressed. This was a perfect way to send this message about the relationship between Elena and Damon. Julie Plec did say that this episode would address some things that have been building up over the entire series. We have obviousy seen how Damon has changed because of Elena, but more subtley the way that he affects her. Damon challenges Elena and helps her to grow and expand. I would love to see how Elena would grow as a character if she were to truly embrace this.

She's nervous when he's around, confused, she's often staring at his lips, in the motel before they kiss- the way she looks at him & pretending to be asleep... That look says everything. Then when they kiss & make a pause and stare at each other... You can feel all the love there.

Their motel kiss is huge because it's a play on Katherine's comment in 2x1. Damon is capable of kissing and killing Elena because that's what he does as he kisses her - kills Stefan's girlfriend. "“Oh, I'm slipping underneath. So, so cold and so sweet." You can feel it when Stefan kisses her in 3x22... she wants Damon. I love this car ride. Damon hates seeing Elena carry the weight of this choice because he knows what it means for her, having to play the bad guy. Having to break up with Stefan is playing the bad guy. Damon truly wants to help, to say something to lessen the weight, but he won't because he can't. Elena needs to own her truth whether they end up together or not. She knows how she feels about Damon, and he knows that she knows, but he also knows how much she likes swimming in denial. Understandable for Delena to be silent, their body language doing the talking. Damon choosing not to make it easier is a bump in the road for Elena. That bump then takes the shape of Rebekah because this push from Damon is the reason she becomes a vampire. Damon is not gonna choose for her, Stefan is not gonna choose for her, Elena has to choose for herself. That's why every choice in 3x22 is hers, and she's the one who chooses to complete the transition by feeding. This is how Elena owns her feelings for Damon. The moment she feeds, she's sired to him because of those feelings.

First of all can you imagine how AWKWARD it is for Jeremy in the car. I used to be team Stefan, but they are a boring couple, if she choses stefan it will just be another twilight. I really do think she should pick damon, not just because of their passion. But they balance each other out. She gives Damon his humanity and he makes Elena think, and not always play it safe. Damon, and Elena have always had the most beautiful chemistry, understanding, and friendship I have ever seen. Damon, was very closed off from everyone else but when he was with Elena he openly spoke about how Katherine treated him and even though he didn’t trust anyone that easy he trusted Elena and she trusted him. Like Elena said Damon was dangerous but not in a way that it scared her but she felt comfortable being around him. To me delena was always meant to be since the beginning of the vampire diaries season one episode one pilot. She denied that she had feelings for Damon because she didn’t want to hurt Stefan’s feelings but when she became a vampire those feelings magnified. Rose also told Jeremy in Season 3 episode 19 Heart of darkness Stefan, is different his love is pure he’ll always be good for her Damon, is either the best thing for her or the worst. Rose about Damon, and Elena’s relationship. While she told Alaric to erase her memory of Damon Elena also said that Damon gave her the necklace that resembled her feelings for Stefan I know it hurt him but he did it and in that moment I loved him it was the most selfless he’s ever been.

Of course she loves Stefan, but everyone needs to realize that the fact is that she fell in love with Damon. Yes, Stefan respected her decisions but he never challenged her, made her think she could be wrong or maybe there was another way . Damon needed Elena as much as Elena needed Damon. Stefan just had to get over the fact that he didnt get the girl. When he finally moved on, he fell in love and even found happiness anyway. I don’t think there is no other way back to Stelena imo. Too much has happened for her to give up on Damon, she sees that he has changed. That he is good. & the only reason she stayed with Stefan so long is that she wanted to do what she thought was right, which was not get involved with the bad brother intimately. She thought she could just suppress her feelings for him, that’s why it took so long for Delena to finally surface. But Im glad she did what she wanted to do, not what anyone expects her to be with or do.

@daja mikaelson but Elena had feelings for Damon quite soon. Stelena only lasted 2 seasons. In the third season, its pretty clear she felt something for Damon. So the "true love" wasn't exactly true if it wasn't both ways. And it wasn't that she only chose Damon because of danger or adventure. If it was more of a physical relationship, why would she feel so broken when he died? She lost a part of herself when he died and she couldn't live with that. And yes, Stefan was good for her, but he was the reason she became a vampire in the first place. He respected her choice so much that he let her die. And if it wasn't for the vampire blood in her system she would've remained dead. Stefan was also happier with Caroline, no one expected it but what they had was happiness in their bizarre lives.

@@myrah7584 Yup ^^ To be honest, I think Delena and Staroline relationships has more parallels with each other than Stelena couple. Stefan and Elena started their relationship way too fast and quick, and too early, and once you start your relationship too early, it's always a sign that your relationship will not get anywhere because you didn't take your time to learn and get to know each other, instead, you start a relationship first. Elena and Damon, Stefan and Caroline are different, both couples started off as friends, then best friends, THEN significant others, and THEN married couples, now that's how Stefan and Elena should've started off as, instead of starting as a couple first, and that's why they didn't grow when they were together. I also think Stefan actually cares about Caroline than he ever did when he was with Elena. Stefan actually took responsibility of Caroline better than he did with Elena.

I mean I've got nothing against Stefan, but how would he get over the fact that she had feelings for his brother. Rose is probably one of my favorite character arcs for Damon. Understand Rose, you understand Damon because they're very much alike. Her comment to Jeremy is the reason everyone else thinks Damon is bad for Elena when he's not. He could be the best thing for her or the worst because they change eachother, and it matters how much they change eachother. When she told Damon he built a life whether he wants to admit it or not, she's being real. He's denying his desire to be human when he's already built a human life with Elena. That's why he's protecting Mystic Falls rather than wanting to destroy it. "How does that happen?" It happened because love did. That's why they had Damon kissing Katherine when he thought he was kissing Elena. He wanted to destroy Mystic Falls for Katherine and protect it for Elena.

Because for one thing, he's the only person that can see and hear her. And because he is Elena's brother. He saw them outside the hotel making out, he obviously has reservations about Damon, so Rose was giving him some advice from someone who has more life experience and sees things that others don't when Delena are together and what they mean to each other.

This episode has to be viewed in two parts because Elena is struggling internally. Damon said all he needed to. He wants to comfort her on the ride back home, but he can't. Elena needs to sort through this herself because it's an internal struggle. That's why it's called Heart of Darkness. Elena is struggling with those dark parts of herself. Her heart and her mind are at war. If you listen to Stefan, you can hear Delena in his conversation with Alaric. He's not you. He's the darkest parts of you. Parts we all have. That's why she becomes a vampire. He has to push her to own the darkest parts of herself.

I also think that even though Stefan, wanted to be with Elena he also knew that Damon does deserve to be happy with her because of how Katherine treated him and it was nice of him to say that I’m not happy about Elena but that doesn’t mean I’m not happy for you either. I also think that even though Stefan knew that Elena was his soulmate, he had to learn that her feelings for him changed and she became a better person for his brother to love. Stefan, realized that Elena’s much better for Damon to be with and that’s the first time he ever became a Delena fan.

This is the mark of TRUE LOVE for a person to feel such extremes..to either have it be the BEST thing or the worst thing..the worst thing in that (to me) Elena feels soo bad and upset when things are not okay with Damon (that is why she always comes back around to Damon all 3 seasons) and they are fighting..or the best thing when she is with him and everything is okay..they "sharpen" and better one another. Stelena does not do this. Elena is a better person for being with Damon.

They pretty much show this through the whole series. Through Katherine, Rose, and even Enzo. Damon lies about flipping his humanity switch. He lies to Alaric about it. He lies to Rose about it, but Rose knows better. He tells Jeremy the truth, then he'll snap his neck because his humanity is on. Because he feels, and his feelings make him impulsive. Katherine said humanity is a vampire's greatest weakness. That's how she's survived for so long. She didn't let her humanity get in the way. Rose, same thing. Caring gets you dead. With Enzo, they show this. Damon has to turn off his emotions in order to leave him behind. Had he not flipped his switch, he would've been back in a cell to be experimented on. He refuses to turn it off because he's in love with Elena and feels she's worth dying for. When people see good, they expect good. Damon will act according to how he feels. His humanity is on. Easier for him when it's off. When he's an emotionless vampire.

i have watched every episode, read all the books. and they are ver different but what i love in both is elena and damons relationship, where stefan and her's stays the same i its very comftable territory, damon and elena always change and become more. their feeling never stop growing and it will come to a point she wont be able to ignore the love she feels for him. i love this ep, my fav !! you can just see jeremy understanding in that moment in a way he couldnt before, it was perfect.

True relationship is not about a perfection, because two people are not able to be perfect for each other forever. That relationship will fade someday. Damon and Elena will fight, the will be mad on each other. They'are drowing in mistakes, for now they are as unperfect as they could be. Because this is just a beginning. Delena, and Stelena are the best. Elena, needed Stefan at a time when she was grieving the loss of her adoptive parents and he made her want to enjoy life and have fun. Elena needed Damon, when she became a vampire so that he will be able to love her whether she’s human, or vampire he loves her whether she’s good or evil. Damon, and Stefan both brought adventure into Elena’s life I love Damon and Stefan for Elena. Stefan, was her epic love and Damon was her true love they were both very special to her because like Lexi told Stefan there are multiple epic loves out there you just have to go find it.

I haven't seen the episodes or anything, but I've read most of the books and am planning to do so again soon, and I really thought Damon should get together with either Elena or Bonnie...mostly Bonnie, though, because their relationship in the books is adorable! I think, to Elena, Stefan is like (sorry for the Twilight reference) animal blood to a vampire: never fully satisfying. Ah, well. Can't always get what we want. :(

People who are saying stefan should be with elena forget that damon was tha loyal one since day one he never loved anyone else first he does everything to get Kathrine and when he found that Kathrine is only using him he was broken and then he fall for elena and always stick by her side even she told her that it will always gonna be stefan but he never lose hope and stay by her side and at the end elena found what she really feel for damon and I am pretty sure if she chooses stefan instead of damon, damon never fall for other girl like stefan did and will spend another 100 years in anger and guilt until he find another look alike of elena, even when everyone told him elena will choose stefan at the end the universe will always make elena and stefan together he never stopped believing in his love and at the end he get what he deserves

Stefan, is also the one that realized that Elena is in love with Damon and I find it completely wrong for him to blame the sirebond on the fact that Elena is in love with Damon. He’s a complete hypocrite for thinking that just because he’s basing Elena and Damon’s relationship on the sirebond that he was going to get Elena back. In season 3 episode 19 the heart of darkness he allowed Elena to go to Denver with Damon to see if she had feelings for him and that’s exactly what she did and she couldn’t deny her feelings for Damon any longer she already had feelings for Damon as a human because like Elena said in season 6 episode 13 The Day I Tried To Live Matt, was driving Elena back to Stefan but then she said turn around and he was driving her back to Damon because she realized that she’s in love with him she will always love Stefan no matter what but she knew Damon was worth loving and she loves Damon the same reasons why Stefan loves Damon because despite every horrible thing that he’s done they couldn’t live without him.

The problem with Elena is that she loves Damon with an all consuming passion it scares the shit out of her. At the same time she loves Stefan because its safe... And in most cases the safer bet is usually the best bet... SEZ WHO?!!! Damon and Elena belong together!

Damon didnt compel elena to love stefan, he compelled her to forget that they met. And just an observation, im pretty sure that if they were a couple first she wouldnt have been as accepting of his vampire nature as she was with stefan. Remember she was totally afraid until stefan made her feel safe, and showed her he was actually a caring guy. So just think about that. She accepted damon because of stefan, so there is a possibility she wouldnt of been with damon just becuz they met first....

Actually, Rose's speech was spot-on about everything. And how do you know she hasn't seen all that has gone on? Something about this speech tells me she's been watching all this time in the afterlife. Rose cares for Damon. It would make sense she'd check in on him from time to time. Even when she was alive, she could pick up on something between Damon and Elena.

I also think that even though Stefan, wanted to be with Elena he also knew that Damon does deserve to be happy with her because of how Katherine treated him and it was nice of him to say that I’m not happy about Elena but that doesn’t mean that I’m not happy for you either. I also think that even though Stefan knew that Elena was his soulmate, he had to learn that her feelings for him changed and she became a better person for his brother to love. Stefan, realized that Elena’s much better for damon to be with and that’s the first time he ever became a Delena fan.

IM TEAM SALVATORE i ship neither delena/stelena reason why: elena claims to be better than katherine but shes doing the exact same thing which damon has pointed out several times....if elena truly loves them both she would set them free because no matter how they either of them say that they are okay with her choice they arent if she chooses stefan(damons gonna feel like its always him) or if she chooses damon(stefans gonna always question does she want damon)

I absolutely love Damon. I would watch videos like this over and over again. I wanted them together so badly. Don't get me wrong I love Stefan too but Damon was always my choice... Buuuutttt... Now I feel like Damon deserves better. I feel like Elena loves Damon, but not the way that she should. He needs someone who will accept every part of him, not change him to be more stable for her. I just want Damon to be happy, and if it's not with Elena Rose would be perfect

For those who think that Stelena is endgame in the books, you're wrong. There is no endgame - that's the point. Elena stays with Stefan, because Damon dies. Only then she realizes he was her big and true love and that she can't even imagine a world without him. Even Stefan can see that! And since they both loved him and miss him so much, they keep thinking and talking about him and for some magical reason that creates a possibility for him to come back to their world. So no actual endgame...

I hate to burst your perfect SE bubble hun...but no it will not always be Stefan. Clearly DE have had the more convincing & hard journey. I swear SE fans have blinders on...if it'll always be Stefan, why is she w/ Damon now? Looks to me like she's not the same person she was in season 1 & 2 & such, & she knows what she wants finally. How you think Stelena have this awesome amazing relationship I'll never know. They knew each other a few eps then decided 'oh we're so in love.' -_- boring.

Weird Person how is Stelena true love? He only even wanted to know her because she looked like Katherine. At least Damon took the time to get to know her and didn't hide anything about himself from her. Elena always knew who Damon was but with Stefan it always depended on what he was drinking. A good relationship has challenges and is almost never pure. Perfect relationships like Stelena never last cause they're not real. Delena is real. They had their ups and downs but they always came back to each other
