My misfire code is gone! and and engine is running smooth!! I discovered that the two wires going to my injector number five had actually fused together that was definitely the issue.
I know this is an old video but I happen to be researching this if it isn't too much to ask where exactly did the wiring a problem occur inside the intake next to the injector or between the injector and Main plug harness or was it before the plug that actually plugs into the assembly?
@@briancoats2373 okay here we go I chased this problem for 2 years I traded in the truck 2 years ago got a Colorado ZR2 apparently the guy that bought my Sonoma it sold within 16 hours at the Chevy dealership he had to replace the engine and transmission within 2 months I really feel like it was something more majorly and drastically internal valves etc because I replaced spider injector spark plugs wires cap road or distributor crankshaft sensor camshaft sensor ECM everything but the engine. I know this doesn't help much but that's what I have.
As far as the issue with the Chinese injector took it apart and one of the o-rings for the fuel pressure regulator had split apart which caused fuel to constantly flow into cylinder 5 bottom line is don't ever buy one get name brand products only! The fuel pressure regulator is very important!! It will determine how quickly your truck starts and runs!!
If you're talkin about installing a new spider you will find that it is difficult to put them in place. It's been awhile since I've done one I can't remember exactly just be careful with it don't get anything in too much of a bind.
Patiently awaiting the next installment of As The Injector Turns lol. I was unaware that you could successfully replace the pressure regulator by itself. Can you remove it without pulling the spider assembly?
Yes you can it's a little bit harder but it can be done as long as you pop it out of the metal case it sits in you can tip it up somewhat and work on it if your engine doesn't start right away it has a lot to do with your pressure regulator
Went for an extensive test drive today it would seem that the problem has been fixed no more misfire cylinder 5!! Also after carefully inspecting my old spider l pulled back the wire loom and I could see where the two wires had fuse together that was definitely the issue I did not catch that till today.
ever thought about dropping in a 5.3 or a 5.7 vortec? the 5.7 swap isn't too bad at all to do probably the biggest issue would be the radiator for the 5.7 because the stock one cant handle it very well and I imagine having the v8 would make it a lot more drivable since the big tires and everything. also im sure you answered it many times but how is mpgs? if i could ever find a crew cab sonoma id do the same thing instantly but the last 4.3 s10 i had got 8 miles per gallon stock
I would love to do that I've thought about it a lot!! On the same note adding more weight to the front end I would want to put a solid axle under the front! When you're married with kids the bills come first thank you for your comment sir I really appreciate it.
@@waltersteffensthezr2man431 yea I get how you feel in canada here the price of living has gone so high it's hard to even have the spare money to have a beer these days but a guy can dream I guess, I've always thought around about a 4 cylinder diesel swap too if I could ever even find a crew cab
I have a cylinder 2 misfire, im thinking its the same thing but some people say it could just be the fuel pressure regulator its tricky cause its either on the injectors or inside the fuel pump and getting both up to check is time consuming... aaaaa
I chased it for two years then I traded my crew cab in for my Colorado ZR2 the guy that bought my truck I found out that he blew the engine up but the cool thing is he replaced the engine and the transmission. He's been trying to sell my old truck for a good while.

There is one thing when you cut the ear off the differential cut that back as far as you possibly can without hitting the little metal plate on the side with all the 10 mm bolts. You dont want to take that out and do it again trust me 😂
BTW I've got a brand spanking new spider in the box it's a carquest brand bwd I ended up getting two of them don't ask lol I noticed after I installed that Chinese Spyder none of the other and spider popits wanted to fit tight anymore which is a bummer. My point is stick with a good brand or OEM 🙏
I also have a came issue , when I drive up a hill the check engine light starts flashing. Question was the issue the spider injectors or did you have a bent valve?? thank you
Why get a used one from a junk yard they are pretty cheap. Just picked up a new one for $300. I wouldn’t want to do all that work for the juck yard part to have a issue and then I have to redo it all over again. It’s worth biting the bullet and getting a whole new spider in my opinion. To each their own I guess.
I did end up getting a new one and I still kept dealing with cylinder 5 misfire so then a few months later I decided to buy a distributor haven't had any more trouble fingers crossed LOL thank you for the comment!
My decision to do so was based on the fact it was being pulled from a low mileage 2004 motor unfortunately I don't put a lot of faith in parts nowadays! I do believe my actual true problem was the distributor.
