So rad to see these 2 valves getting some attention. I have a 76mm single turbo on my 2v 5.4 pushing 13 pounds of boost on a stock block in my '03 SuperCrew. Great motors!
everyone underestimates the 2v. I remember reading comments trying to find info when turboing mine so here are some more numbers from my stock 2v On3 70mm forward facing kit 460hp/465tq @10psi to the wheels on a mustang dyno
Nothing beats a ls though Iam here because right now Iam not allowed to have any project cars til summer for various reasons and 2 I can’t find a decently clean budget f body or 3rd gen so if I get a new edge Iam gonna do exhaust cam intake turbo not to much money into it since it’s not a fox body or coyote which are the preferred Fords I would drive
@@treysosuavey yeah, swapped a junkyard t45 into it while i decide what to do with the tr3650 and it's holding up. stock clutch grenaded after about 20 wot pulls, oil pump gears grenaded at about the 1000 mile mark. was watching oil pressure so threw a new pump in and good to go
Awesome video man!!! That little 2V makes great power, that’s where I started with 96 GT!! I’m coyote guy now but the 2V are great IMHO .... if it wasn’t for the 4.62V we wouldn’t have the coyote today shoot a lot of stuff still the same , like rods 5.933
450-500rwhp is the end of the safe zone for a stock bottom end.. not saying at 501hp it blows up but around that 500ish rwhp mark failure is bound to happen might last a week might last a year .. Stock LS engines can fail around that same point if they are left untouched ... they need piston ring gaps opened up at minimum .
Stock 2 valve making over 500 is a ticking time bomb. At least he already has the block to make his soon to be replacement forged. It will be a boat load fun until it goes though. Love the sound of the 2 valves and the 4 valve terminator
It’s really a hit and miss on how it’s been maintained or abused before the kit was installed. There’s plenty of people that run 480s-500 to the wheel and hold up great. And there’s some that blow up because they are more then likley beat on before hand and not maintained.
I wanna pro charge my 05 Mercury marquis but I wasn’t sure if boosting it was a good idea but I feel confident going forward after watching this video 🔥
If you guys can build this dude a conservative 2v with a turbo. Might bring my 2v up there with a similar turbo for you guys to build but my internals are completely stock.
2 questions for you. First one is what modified turbo is it from on3? what size and what kind of compressor wheel is that? and 2nd, what 2step module is he using for that or is it just in the stock ecu that you can set that up?
Does anyone know if the stock triton 4.6 2V (that’s in my truck) has the same internal components such as pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft etc. as the stock 4.6 2V in the mustang? I’m trying to see if I would be able to boost my 4.6 in my truck 😁
I wanna say the older 4.6 truck engines are the same as the car minus camshafts and intake manifold. I know the crank and rods are the same. Either way you can throw some boost at it ;)
@@robertbenson8353 boost is just a number and with e85 becoming readily available, stock long blocks are surviving at higher power levels. Keep the torque under 450ft/lbs and you should hold together with a spot on tune and proper fueling. It will have no problem making that power level under 10psi.
156k doesn't matter at all man ! What matters is HOW THE ENGINE HAS BEEN SERVICED it's whole life ! Reg.oil changes and it probably would mic.out great on all the internals ! I'm a 34 yrs tech...took plenty of high mileage engines apart...some of them..you would think were 10k motors....modern parts are bullit proof !!!!! Just CHANGE YOUR OIL PEOPLE....
Just out of curiosity. Which 4.6 can you build . Are all of them good for 700hp or less . Are any of the 4.6 good to build . I've seen the prices on the Ford webcite for replacement 4.6 crank and rods . Very reasonable. Some of those parts are make 1000 hp on the aluminum blocks . So can any 4.6 junk yard block be built to hold 700 hp.
@@BAMotorsports you ain't gonna find no engine like that in the junkyard even if one ended up there they pull the whole engine and tranny and sell it for top dollar
Don't listen to @gsc a Romeo (cast iron) block can handle 1,000+ EASY. People just use the cobra blocks because the have 4 bolt mains, vs 2, and they cool alot easier than iron because they're Aluminum
@BAMotorsports 03 cobra can make alot on stock bottom but built vs built it's no better than any other 4v. The teksid is actually a stronger block and many terminator guys go with them when building motors.
I want to do the exact same thing to my 97 cougar xr7. Just no clue how to tune. Ik how to use a wrench well but also have never done such complex mods. Is there any kit that comes with everything i would need like air filter and intake and charge pipe whatnot. Very confused im a broke fellow that wants boost in the shitbox.
so i have a gm-8 turbo just sitting around. I know its a 52inducer and 73 mm exducer(exhaust side) turbo. What would I need for tuning? Wanting to do e85 and run extremely safe on 7 psi
either size will work just fine. If you are buying a set though I would go ahead and do 80s so you have longer before you need to upgrade to a bigger set ;)
Thanks I appreciate the info I have a quantum fuel pump in the car I installed last year it's a 265lph should I grab the on3 billet hat and run two pumps or do u think the one 265lph pump I have now will support 520whp?
There's no hp limit that is hard set in stone. Everyone throws all these bs numbers around...on a bone stock engine and minimal supporting mods with a blower 400 wheel and 450 wheel with a turbo...if you have supporting mods like ported heads, cams and headers you could make more than that on either one. That is why I say it's not a hard limit set in stone. They can take 10 psi or so pretty good and how much you can make at that boost level depends on the rest of the setup. Depending on your build you could see over 500 rwhp on good fuel with a safe tune it depends on the overall build. The better the fuel and more supporting mods you run the more safe power you can make.
so fully built bottom end with a cast iron block and turbo cams ported heads on e85 could easily be a kinda safe 600 weekend street car? that's my goal for mine at least with a 70mm turbo.
@@richardcarlson6444 a 5.1L stroker kit is rated at 800+hp is what i'm going with, plus most kits have 800hp ratings.. I say don't just get parts rated at the hp level you'd like to be at, go above that.. Then you can increase hp later..

Since in stock form kicking the shit out of them daily they are known to make a million miles, on 8psi you could probably maintain that 700k to million mile mark.. But on bone stock you're risking internals after 10psi.
My understanding is the 4.6 Pi 2v made 30 more hp because of the heads and intake , You can take those heads and intake, put on a non 4.6 2v and rise the compression to something like 10 to 1 .. they started in 2001 with the Pi and the dipstick is different I believe as it has the circle hole and not the tee handle .
You need to watch the video again you're wrong it's a stock 2v he's building a teksid for it but it isn't in there in this video. Get your ears cleaned out.
Whats the best catback exhaust to use for 03 Gt turbo with no cats. My shit sounds like a horn until i hit (3krpm) any suggestions? I currently have borla atak on it.
On pump gas I could see it being that low ecsp if youre running like 10 psi on a stock motor. You wanna make the power with boost not timing to keep it alive better when pushing the limit imo based on what I've seen and heard.
