@@jlsetnuper Please sir, mine is Toyota Matrix 2007 with the same coils as that of corolla in your video. But the readings are from 4.49Mohms to 4.55Mohms for the four coils. Does it mean they all need to be changed? I always experience uncomfortable shaking at traffic stops

@@emcee8243thanks for watching... If the engine dont have a misfire, or check engine light, maybe the coils are fine. But try to replace the spark plugs. There are so many factors for engine shaking ..pcv, fuel delivery, vacuum leak so on..and try to check with OBD scanner and check the fuel trim , may be the engine is too lean..

@@emcee8243 secondary circuit is measured in kilo ohms,check that your multimeter is set at the right scale,when testing.

thanks for watching...sorry I dont have the part list, but you can follow the wiring diagram and buy the parts.. I bought all the part at aliexpress.com.. all part are listed in the diagram except the D1 and D2 (it is a signal diode 1N914)..

Hello Friend, I have a few questions. C3 is 10 microfarads ceramic correct? C2 is 10 nanofarads ceramic correct? In the video you use 3 capacitors what is the value of Cap#1 and where does it goes. Also is R1 a 360ohms resistor? Sorry the schematic is a little blurred,,I want to do this. Great video thanks for all your time on helping us out here.

thanks for watching..there is no C3, only C1 (10 microfarad) and C2 (10 nanofarad) all ceramic. R1 is 360 ohms..check on the video @ 5:55

Thank you for the video. I will be happy if you can give me your opinions. I have a motorcycle which uses a coil pack and i want to convert the system to the Coil Over Plug ignition. I want to use the type of ignition coils which you are testing in the video. My motorcycle is a Bmw r1100gs from 1995. I need to find a ignition coils which fits to through the hole in the cylinder head. I found one but it is a 4 pin ignition coil from a Porsche car. Can i use these coils in my motorcycle? Do i need to use a 3 pin ignition coil? What should i do to find matching ignition coils for my motorcycle?

Hi, very nice setup. Thanks for sharing. Regarding the diagram at 1:15, can you please tell me what the letters in the green, blue and pink rectangles mean. Does the small orange rectangle next to pin 4 represent a resistor? Can you also please tell me why the zener diode and regular diode are used? I apologize for all the questions but I'm just getting started in electronics, and I want to thoroughly understand the Toyota 4 pin coil/igniter circuit. Many thanks in advance😊

I'm assuming that OVP is Over Voltage Protection, OCP is Over Current Protection, and DRV stands for ECM driver. Is this correct? What about WF, LP, and FS?

@@bernardocisneros4402 yes thats correct..WF is waveform shaping circuit, LP is lock prevention ckt, FS for failsave signal ckt and orange rectangle is a resistor..those circuit are buil-in inside the COP..and diodes are voltage and reverse current protection only, if im not wrong..

@@jlsetnuper Thanks for the quick reply. I have one more question. I know that the ECM sends a 5 volt signal through the IGF wire and the signal gets pulled to ground by the igniter circuitry inside the coil when the spark plug fires. The ECM interprets the signal getting pulled to ground as confirmation that the spark plug fired. What I don't understand is how this happens because according to my understanding of the diagram, the IGF wire is always connected to ground (pin 4) through the FS and resistor. I'm pretty sure I'm not reading the diagram correctly. Can you please explain. Could it be that the FS is in charge of switching the IGF signal to ground when the spark plug fires?

Hello again, I would like to know the output current from your board to IGT terminal of ignition coil. I read the comments and all I could find is that 5V goes into board, 3.5V comes out of the board, and the 2 resistors (10 & 15 ohm) you used at output can have a power rating as low as 1/2W. I assume the output current from the board is in the milliamps not microamps. I see the transistor inside the coil is an NPN transistor. Do you know the part number of that transistor or of another similar transistor that can be used in its place? Thank You!

yes, the output current of the board is in milliamp, (20-50 mAmp)...sorry I dont have any idea of the part number of the transistor..

yes..the diagram only shows the two ceramic capacitors, the black electrolytic capacitor (10 uF 50V) is part of the 5 volt as a filter for dc supply..

So I just tested all 6 GM COP ignition coils (4 pin, 2007 Saturn 3.6) like you did in the beginning of the video and apparently all 6 are bad...but this car is driven daily

Thanks for watching..you cannot check the primary coil on a 4 pin ignition coil, there is a circuit that is connected to the primary coil..and thats why you cannot see it on the internet ..as long as you have an IGF signal ,the primary coil is good..

I seen there are 3 capacitor in breaboard,2 ac milar and 1 dc capacitor but in the wiring diagram just 2 and simbol use dc capacitor symbol. Can you explain, i am a bit confused🙏🙏🙏

Aloha n good morning, lov the explanation. hopefully u can help me with my problem. 03 camry with 2.4L engine, new cam,crank,temp,02,vvti oil screen, coil n fuel pump. No spark n gas. Change ecu, reset it with paper clip on the scanner plug under the steering , Change keys and cylinder. Question, What happen if I connect the 2 signal wire together? Would it fry the ecu or that why will block the car from vvti setting and just run like old school car? How can I check the harness for sorts wires. Thanks

looks like a you have a wiring issue...first check if you have a good ground for the ecu, with key "on" engine "off" check for 5 volt reference on the sensor connectors, if its OK, disconnect the main connectors on the ECU and all sensor connectors then check the wiring with a multimeter , check each connectors for open and shorted to ground wires..maybe it will help..

@@DodongWerkzPh I used it because its the only available in my shop..it is the output resistor 25 ohms (15 ohms and 10 ohms in series 1 watt) but you can use lower wattage on the output maybe 1/2 watt , its still work..

it the same procedure, except there is no IGF for the 3 terminal COP...You need to check your wiring diagram , you need to know which terminal is +12 volt, the ground and the IGT (where you can tap a test light to trigger the COP)...thanks for watching

thanks for watching ..it is a signal from the coil to the ecu or ecm as a feedback, it is a confirmation signal to the ecu that the coil has fired..

@@danstrava1836 the frequency output of the circuit ( as a dummy ecu) in the video represent the IGT signal coming from the ecu with a certain engine rpm (idle ,1000 rpm or 2000 rpm an so on) .The supply voltage of the circuit is 5 volt and the output pulse about 3.5 volt.(it is just like the output voltage of the IGT signal from the car's ecu)

I'm asking because now i have 1 ignition coil for 2 cylinders (3 wire, i guess pin 1 to 12v, 2 gnd and 3 is for signal from ecu) and i wont to change them to 1 ignition coil for each cylinders, but all of them îs with 4 wire
