In this video, we’re going to try to vulcanize an inner tube instead of using traditional patches. If you have any questions or comments, send me a email. And as always work safe have fun and I’ll talk to you soon. Jim.
Brought back memories of watching my dad patching old tubes many years ago. It was quite a process and yes it did work. Thanks for the memories of 60+ years ago 😊
The match light patches I remembered would ignite the glue you would use on the rubber patch and would melt the rubber patch to the tire basically bonding the tire and patch together perfectly! Those were the good ole days lol!
Hey Jim I did notice that the patch kits had the same logo on them; Even though they were decades apart. Are they from the same company? Just curious. That went off like a uncontrolled sparkler ( Yikes ) Be safe Jim SNAPPOUT.
Glad you tried it first. I have a couple of those clamps and the vulcanizing kits as well, but have not ventured to trying one out. Mine are crackly too. I like your wall mount version of clamps. They are much better suited as wall hangers than the bench mounted models. Hope you find them a good home.
@@jimjackson9381 No, they are about the same size. Definitely not an automotive tire, maybe a bicycle. But all that considered, maybe they were primarily (or exclusively) meant for tubes...
You are one interesting man jim iam 62 and never seen that done. love your videos you have helped loads with my snapper ride on its probably as old as your patches😉😅. Thanks again it's jim here in ireland🇮🇪
This must be Jim Kenna I remember you I hope your snapper is running good. I haven’t heard from you in a while. I hope you and your wife are well. Don’t be a stranger. Keep in touch. Jim.
Yes jim that would be me I reckon them old snapper were the best made mower ever yes mine is still running not a bother ment to send u a photo of it I will this spring when I pull it out of my shead👍
@@jimkenna3362 hey Jim I would love to have a picture of you sitting on your snapper to hang on my wall of friends. I still have the picture of you and your wife looks like you’re on a patio in front of the ocean beautiful view. Jim I forgot to put down my email in case you forgot it jimsfixitshop@gmail.com
Well, it burns so hot so quick that it totally melted the rubber patch and kind of stuck it to the tube but not good enough to seal the leak and on the way home tonight from work. I’m gonna pick up two new complete tire assemblies that are solid rubber, the tires are so cheap. They’re cracking down in the bottom of the tread and this handtruck is only less than a year old and both tires are just junk. Jim
I would have thought that vulcanized kit was for tires and not tubes since a lot of heat is applied. The solid tires are ok but the air filled one really handle better over rough terrain. And what’s this about work? I thought you were retired! 😂
