In this video series, we’re going to rebuild Paul’s complete drivetrain for his Snapper. And as as always worked safe. Have fun and I’ll talk to you soon so long. Jim.
Can`t wait to see re-assembly of this Snapper. My old one, that my Pa-In-Law bought new, has a pretty bad leak at the right side axle. I`m going to attempt to DIY. Glad to see we share the same preference of drink too! WAIT! You like RC (Royal Crown) and I like Crown Royal! lol
i tore one of those down a couple of years ago..... its painted simplicity orange...not snapper red.... notice the absence of the second filler plug on the diff case.... and the gear in the chain case has nuts on it and not welded like the snappers ....and also has snap ring retainers .... and also both fenders dad a matching bolt pattern as if you could mount a diff on both sides.... i agree .... a strange set up.... mine also had the 8 pinion set up...i pulled mine from a 33" extra tough from 1986.... whole rear section stuck out like a sore thumb... all that orange and everything else was red..... i think mine was a simplicity replacement rear end job to get it up and running.....probabily couldnt get the ball bearings for the fenders so they just changed it all out.....
I wish my drive train was that clean . It eventually will be, (if I stick with it) and (don't get side tracked), each piece, I can use gas, gasket scrapper & a brush. But I want to pull the engine to clean it better and paint . I'll look a 1 of your videos if there is one for pulling the engine. I noticed the drive on the engine shaft has to come off, as it's bigger than the hole. If I get it off the shaft I'll bet it's critical to put it back in the exact spot with this type of drive.
Well, if you’re talking about a snapper rear engine rider, the whole in the rear case will be big enough to pull the engine and the drive disk out in one piece and yes if you do take it off watch video number 70 because it is critical to get that back in the right location. Jim
