Nice, liked how you showed how to put a pin in the bible. Seen others try to show people, but you made it real clear, with a nice shot of you doing it. Should of shown how to put a 6th pin in on a 5pin key.
Randy Perkins it's the same process just finding a key pin that sits flush off the tip of the key(trial and error) then adding the driver pin and spring
Sorry Grim I was being a little bit of a wise ass on the part. Figuring if you're gonna mess the pins adding a 6th stack would help the most. Very sincere on the first part though. Perfectly sowed how to put them in and taking them out should be exactly the same. Sorry LPL moment of weakness and I got caught, lol.
that's a really cool lock, i like the idea of using a kik in a padlock. also, as a side note, it's nice seeing other people support CLK supplies, they're a good company.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen LPL take a lock part so fast. If there was a Guinness world record for disassembling, replacing pins and reassembling a lock, he would definitely win.
The fly managed to pick open LPL's secure door and break in while he was filming. He was almost a goner if he didn't act fast and beat the fly up with a lock.
Great job and quick skill demonstrated. This might be just about the only Master lock I will buy, just because It could be re- pined to your business and/or home keys. Master lock just don't get it. They need to get better with security pins, not just the outside appearance of a lock.
I have watched and enjoyed almost all the videos in your channel, and one glaring fact emerges: the brand “Masterlock” is simply a marketing company that sells poorly designed, and in the most part, poorly made products from China, and has utter contempt for its end users, and disdain for any advertising standards organisations in the U.S.A. Basically they are fully aware that their products are mostly junk, but carry on selling them because no-one cares enough to stop them. Sad.
do you have any advice for a left handed picker regarding how to hold a tension wrench? i hold locks in my right hand and its really hard when the core only rotates to the right..mortise or euro locks are ok since they open both ways but padlocks are always difficult...i suppose i could try picking it upside down but i dont want to have to learn to pick both ways..i like right side up, especially since all NA keyways are like that
So, as someone who has no clue about anything discussed here: Why don't standard locks use more of these security pins? It doesn't seem like they'd be much more expensive to use?
Because the guy with a sledgehammer or crowbar or bolt cutters or maybe an angle grinder doesn't care if you have security pins. All these cheap locks may be terrible but when you get down to it, the lock body is probably the only important part for the vast majority of attacks. They aren't much more expensive to use but if it makes no difference to the majority of your customers, might as well cut the costs and pay more attention to the physical strength of the lock.
Great video! Would it be helpful to show how much adding security pins helps against raking? I'm glad to see that you showed how to trap the driver with the follower before pushing it into the bible in your video - many people probably didn't know about this.
7:00 - Wait a second... something got jammed up in the mechanism, and LPL resorted to using the key to unstick it? BRB, gonna patent "something" and a process for "jamming it up in the mechanism", so even LPL can't pick it!
This lock is usually shipped w/o a cylinder included, but they did offer it special order with a short list of keyways. No way from the model number you gave to determine which. The manufacturer of the cylinder is an important factor. ILCO and GMS are the most common aftermarket cylinders who manufacturer in about 23 commercial keyways. SOME keyways are multi-section, which makes them especially sloppy. If it is a RUSSWIN o.e.m. cylinder, intended for a standard Key in knob format, tolerances will be very tight. Much better to outfit with the Emhart HS version, or Medeco, Assa Max etc. Your demo of improving the existing cylinder is not bad, but I would try upselling facility into a restricted keyway, highly resistant lock form.
Hey, where did you get the tension tool you use when you're first picking the lock, around the 1:14 min mark? Did you buy it that way or did you bend it yourself?
imagine the bug being able to pick that lock. On a sidenote, i’m gonna get one of these and put a mul-t-lock mt5 in it. it will be the trojan horse of padlocks. for shits and giggles, right?

This is maybe a silly little question but what is the c clip (circlip) remover tool you have, just seems so simple/small and handy, cant seem to find one on ebay or even google search. Would love it if someone could tell me please!
@@lockpickinglawyer Not at all. The purpose of this lock format is to reduce the number of keys carried. The lock may only be to a safety caged off area, or embedded in a tool crib or storage container, so the lock body and shackle may be well protected.
Bad LPL - That was a perfectly harmless (and beneficial) ant lion. In the larval form they build conical traps in fine, dry soil and eat insects that tumble in.
