This transmission was shifting late. 2nd would sometimes be at 20 to 25 mph, taking off in high gear intermittently. This is what we found and fixed. Please SUBSCRIBE and give your possitive comments and dont forget to LIKE it. Thank You...Enjoy.

Like this video. I’m wondering which part actually failed. I like to find the cause instead of throwing a bunch of parts at it. I just wondered if you have tried just changing out the shift motor first before doing anything else to it? Mine is acting up again ,2006 Cummins/48re 4wd w2k on trans.Recently the instrument cluster indicator won’t move to 1st but goes to the rest . It shifts into R,1,2,3.while driving but when going to R& D the band engagement is slow and the od only slips under a load. Has had everything replaced but the pcm n wiring harness to the tranny. I removed the thermostat in the front trans cooler and it helped out with the whine when going in gear/out of gear. I am an ASE mechanic and my uncle is a tranny master mechanic and he has no idea what it would be! 74 yrs old so if he doesn’t know it must be electrical?! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hiram have a question. My 2006 Dodge 5.9 2500 started acting like it was taking off in high gear/idling really high @ a stop. I adjusted both bands, replaced filter & fluid, and replaced the pressure solenoid & transducer (just doing RU-vid troubleshooting). Then I took it for a test drive doing the same thing but this time I got a check engine light. The codes on the dash show P0633 & P1757. Should I replace the transmission throttle valve actuator? I found your video & you are the 1st that talks about replacing it. Please help

My 06 dodge 5.9 RE48 seems to be shifting up and down normally, the issue I have, it shudders at about 55 to 60 MPH, have to back of the throttle to get it to stop shuddering. The only code it throws is P1757. Should I replace with an upgrade kit? And if so, what kit should I purchase. The tranny was rebuilt less than a year ago.

Hi Hiram, I like your videos! One question. How can I test a 46RE Governor Sensor (the old version or gold version) with a multimeter? Can you help me? Thx!

I seem to have the symptoms of one or all three of these parts failing. Such as late shifting and hard shifting but my truck dose not show any codes. Should I still replace these parts or should I be looking elsewhere for a problem? Any advice is appreciated.

Hey Hiram, up and coming tech here. have an 01 RAM (46RE) codes (1757- gov press malf) & (1740- lock up) first off lock up is commanded, but no physical lockup (possible seperator plate/valve, or converter/pump/etc? from my understanding... As far as gov actual/desired, the actual was near but fluctuating 10-15 psi, and new solenoid/sensor corrected fluctuations... My big question is, I've noticed higher speeds the desired psi is around 125psi or so, while actual psi equally climbs to but stays around 50-55 psi only at higher speeds. desired and actual increase together till the 50-55 mark. Do we have another problem with this thing? I hear computers are common on these vehicles?

That's the info I've been gathering. I definitely like confirmation on this stuff, cause I was chasing my tail trying to figure out if a 5R55E had a computer failure because I saw the shift pattern 1,3,4,5... where's 2? until I learned how the 5R55E shifts. It all starts to make sense, and helpful people like yourself are the true teachers of this world. Your efforts truly are worth it. thanks!!!
