circle d makes a 4l80 converter that bolts to a 5.3/4.8 flexplate, no need for spacer. and the harness plug is gravy, you just unpin the brown and white wire and put the brown one in the whites place and just tuck the white one up in the lume, its not used. To add a speed sensor you just buy one off ebay and add it to pin 22 and 23 then flash a 4l80e tune on it
@@Burban12 Huh? You do not HAVE to do a segment swap but it is preferred. What do you mean same ECU serial number? I have done this swap. Didn't need a certain serial number that I recall.
2GUNMASTER when I did the swap on my 2002 suburban without the proper numbers a segment swap wouldn’t work. And when I tried too just change it in the tune and copy and paste all the values from a 4l80e tune file it wouldn’t shift correctly.
I have had my truck Turbo for 5 years now and the 4L80e swap from the junk 4l60e was the best thing I did besides turbo it. It's not bad at all to do the entire swap start to finish. My truck put down 691torque to the wheels on a mustang dyno on the stock converter before swapping that out to a yank 3500 stall and it is very tame on streets till I smash the throttle. Glad your doing this and keep up the great content on videos of the trucks we like it.
@@SniderTron3000 no I did not do the transgo kit. Straight from the junk yard to my truck lol. If I were you I'd do the transgo kit just to be on the safe side.
Glad to see this swap, thinking of it myself, doing a lot of towing with my 06 CC silverado 1500. Be nice to see a parts list and a total cost involved.
You're the realest youtuber i've come across. Watching your videos really makes me want to get working on my chevelle, but unfortunately i fell down and broke my ankle in 3 spots and dislocated it, so no working for awhile. oh well. Your videos keep me entertained lol
Bro I been waiting for a video like of this! I’m in the same situation my 60e broke and I’m planning to install a 80e, can’t wait to see the next video to the build! Great job
Awesome work Cool to watch you two work through the problems. Only tip for today is next time before welding I recommend using some weld thru primer to help protect against rust. There is always next time
The wiring is so easy for the 80 swap run two wires from the speed sensor to the computer and on the main plug u swap the brown wire to were the white wire is and leave the white wire out then that's it
Wheel of death lol good to see pushing forward and getting stuff done buddy of my had billet PTC converter in his 80e and was pretty affordable so far he put 20lb boost throw it once and hand full 12-16 lb held up good
Thanks for this series man. You're the only one that I found that has almost step by step vids. I have a truck(02 with a 4.8) and want to do this. I had a couple of questions. 1) Did you have to change the flex plate? 2) What did the 4l80 come out of? Sorry if you explained and I missed it.
@@SniderTron3000 Thanks man! Wow! A youtuber that answers questions on old videos! That's rare man. You just got a sub for life man. I like what you're doing. Keep it up!
Nice bead for not being able to see out your hood lol!!! Shit came together pretty nicely. Cant wait to see the final project. I am a welder and do custom hoods for friends. If u need one, I got you big dog!!
Dude, you have no idea how bad I need a good one lol that was an ebay hood I bought like 4 years ago. Literally all I can see is a bright circle in a sea of black lol it's a total guessing game as to if I'm staying on the mark. If you're serious about the hood I'd be super interested. Sponsorship perhaps? Haha
@@SniderTron3000 I totally know what you mean. Welding and just hoping your still on track lol. Yeah I'm serious. I'm not a pro or anything but ive made a few pretry cool looking hoods for a few buddies. No complaints. chrisaubrey1230@gmail.com is my email. I can wing it or if u have an idea of what u want then just let me know. I'll do it for free so dont worry bout money or nothing. Just seeing it on one of your videos would be pretty awesome lol
Sucks putting a vehicle together up north. Look at all the rust. I got the 03 4 door ext cab version and I never realized how clean it look underneath till looking at his truck. Lol
What are you going to do for your convertor get a 80e convertor and swap to 6.0 flywheel? Or stay 60e convertor and 5.3 flywheel I plan on doing the 80e trans swap on my 5.3
I was going to go with the Circle D budget 80e converter, but now i'm thinking of going with the PATC 80e converter. It's a lot cheaper and still rated for 600hp. Then I'm just going to get the 6.0 flexplate and spacer. Amazon has a "frequently bought together" kit for like $150 or so
Fuck dude...every time I see that grinder with the huge cut off wheel..rad vid as always. I didn't like james brown when ya introduced em but he grew on me a long time ago, cant wait ta see how he ends up. Seen the thumb nail and thought we'd be mourning a loss...
Haha you're not alone. The RX7 videos didn't do too great. I was really lucky if they got like 500 views lol I'm really hoping I can get started on it in January sometime
FYI, get a converter that is universally drilled for 4l60/4l80 and you won't need a new drive plate. Also, I have a unused Nelson harness that you can have for FREE! Would you like it? Email sent.
If it helped get the rx-7 together faster I would set the trucks on fire. I have a swapped 01 1500 ex cab rwd 6.0L and it's just no fun at all compared to a small car with power like the N/A Miata with a sbc I had. I might be the odd duck out but I much rather see you work on the rx-7 then watch you beat on the trucks.
If thats the same neutral saftey switch it might be the wrong year 80e. I think they only made that 80e with that saftey switch to mate with the the long crank 6.0. Unless you got one from a van.
Make that money somehow, spend that money on the parts you need, fix that thing and get back to rippin! Somehow you gota do it, it will be worth it long term with subs & views you will get. Do some sick editing, driving/montage videos Not trying to be a dick either, I like this channel and I like that truck and I just want see more play time... you should wrap it and make it louder!!!!
Segment swaps are super simple. It's just downloading a stock tune file for something with an 80e that has the same OS, load it as a compare file with your tune, and then select a segment swap and you select from a small menu which parts of the compare tune you want to transfer over. TheTuningSchool has a pretty good video on it.
Did I miss something? What was found out about the 4L60? I must've missed something, last I saw you were getting it checked out by dude that built it....
@@SniderTron3000 im in process of building a turbo ls 240sx s13 instead of fuel injection im doin a blow threw.most my mitivation comes from watching you and your pops.i see you grindin I wanna get out there and grind too thank for the videos
@@SniderTron3000 I got the Eastwood xl view its badass I think the price went down because they came out with a 360 view witch is badass. But they are at least 100 or more. If u want s I'll something cheap but good harbor freight
