Random idea for those who know they should be eating mushrooms but who just don't like them, one of those little cans dumped into the blender of dressing gives you your serving while disappearing into the dressing with out much trace
Because cashews are so Pricey, I replace half with rolled oats (raw, uncooked oatmeal) and it keeps it creamy but reduces the fat level... just a tip for those who are watching their fat intake.
Nice video -- these are great options. The 3-2-1 recipe sounds like a good one where most folks already have those ingredients in their cupboards. No blender needed either!
5 fantastic oil free recipes Maddie and they will certainly make salads, steamed vegetables or roast vegetables less boring. Love 🥰this video and love 💕❤Maddie & Q.
Yep! I’d recommend balsamic with that one, but if you only have white vinegar that works too. 😊😊 Add a touch more sweetness if you taste it and it’s too vinegary.
Hey Maddie! I always enjoy your updates. I wanted to share a tip from a previous video around cleaning your coffee grinder. You simply put a tablespoon of quick oats inside and grind. It cleans it out completely.
I'm going to try these - I haven't mastered salad dressings at all. I love seeing that I'm not the only one that repurposes my glass jars. I use the glass salad bottles from grocery store dressing when I'm feeling fancy, which isn't often lol. I'm not knocking cashews, I could live on them, but I find tofu usually does a good sub if you don't have cashews or want the calories/fat. Thanks! PS I make a similar peanut dressing but add sriracha or hot sauce to it for an extra kick.
You can sub cashews for avocado and vinegar for lemon juice! I also have these recipes which you might like. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wbpxVZi3aTs.htmlsi=G6YNl11HUKbNR1s7
Thank you for the great ideas! I was so hopeful about the glazes but found that they contain sugar, corn starch, xanthan gum etc… I make my own right now but would love to find some glazed without all of the junk that I could buy.
Great recipes thanks so much for sharing 🥰 haven't quite mastered the art of sauces yet so these will be great for all my summer salads to get me going. I literally just chuck BBQ sauce on everything haha so will be good to mix it up 💞
This was a great recipe video!! Thank you for sharing you wonderful tips and tricks!! Hey, Maddie! How are you doing? Thanks for these dressing ideas :) BTW, I tried using silken tofu for a ranch dressing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend doing that. Blech! ;P I'm sure you know that tofu is like a black hole of flavor...no matter how much extra spices and salt I used, they just seemed to get absorbed. Also, the texture was not great. Oh, well, good to know, right? I'm trying to make buddies cashews, so I can use those, instead.
Oh no! 😆😆 Well thanks for doing the experiment for us! Sometimes I do half white beans and half nuts, that might work as well but if you did notice taste with tofu you may not find the beans as yummy as plain nuts. And I think I mentioned sunflower seeds to you before? That is good for those with cashew allergies. 😊
Oh, yes!! You're welcome and I do love a good experiment! I don't super love the flavor of sunflower seeds, unless they're in a trail mix, but yes, you did mention that trick, before, and thanks for the reminder that that's an option. I can imagine trying half white beans and half nuts. I haven't given up on cashews, just yet, and I still have a little bit left. There's also tahini, which I just got a little jar of. I might try making a plant-based Caesar dressing with one of those options. We'll see. Anyway, I hope you are well. Blessings! - Claire @@LetsEatPlants
@@LetsEatPlants hey there! No, I didn’t and later that same day I looked at the recipe again and realized that I missed the first step. What I ended up with was actually tasty (like cauliflower soup). Going to do it right this weekend.
I think you could. As a vegan I don't use honey, and I do think the taste would be a bit different than maple syrup, but technically I think it would work. 😄
Great question! A lot of the plant based doctors such as Dr. Esselstyn, Dr. Klaper, Dr. Greger and Dr. McDougall all have said that it is quite harmful to health (not to mention the fact that it is the most calorie dense food- meaning using just a tiny amount will be a lot of calories). If you do a google search or RU-vid search for any of their names + no oil you can hear them speak on all the specific reasons as well. 😊😊 I do still use oil on occasion, but I have reduced it quite a bit since learning about the negative health effects.
@@riocunningham9823 Haha no worries! I know not all vegans avoid honey so it's a good question! (Not to mention I'm sure there are non-vegans who watch my channel! 😃) But yes, any sweetener really will do. Even a pinch of sugar would work. 😋
Hi Maddie, about how long do the dressings last in the fridge? Is it the typical three to five days? I also noticed you had a jar of lemon juice on hand, what is your prep for that and how long does it last in the fridge?
Hi Cynthia! Dressings with fresh veg elements like the cauliflower or corn are probably best within 3-4 days. Something like a cashew cream usually lasts 5-7. 😄 Good question about the lemon juice! I usually juice a bunch of lemons at once (a dozen or so) and you can either refrigerate or freeze. (I use silicone ice cube trays to freeze.) If in the fridge it should last 7-10 days. 🤗
@@LetsEatPlants Thank you so much for your reply! I came across your channel while looking for videos on buckwheat. So far you have been the only one who provided the tip about adding apple cider vinegar to water before soaking, so thanks for that tip. ; )
It actually IS onion powder! 😆😆 I really need to change that label!! I bought that one years ago and once it ran out I just started refilling it with onion powder, not onion salt. 🙈🙈 I used to always verbally point it out in my older videos but I should really just change the label instead. Thanks for the reminder. 😊😊
Great question! Usually around 6-7 days. The fresh ones with blended veggies I like to use pretty quickly after they’re made mainly because I think they taste a bit better within the first few days of making them. 😊😊 I like to make smaller batches so I can change them up every 4-5 days, but that’s just my preference! 😁 Enjoy!
@@wendirobinson6853 Oh no! Sorry about that. It's right below the video, and above the comments. You'll see something that says *...more* and you click that box. Here's a tutorial about how to find it as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--aVqWSv7NEI.html If you still can't find it, the sub is 1/3 cup regular peanut butter (and you will likely need a bit of water to thin it out). But definitely try and learn how to use the description box, as many creators will put their recipes there! 😊
I don’t get the point of this video. Oils are not unhealthy. Use unsaturated fats. Maple Sirup despite being “natural” will spike your blood sugar levels. Eat everything you like but in moderation and you’re good to go.
Love it that you put the recipes here. Thanks for that. So tired of clicking links. Love you videos. I always check them out. Super healthy. Question… do you do juicing? If so what are your fav recipes? Love and gratitude 🇦🇺😇💐✨
So glad that’s helpful! And thank you for the kind words. 🤗🤗 I used to juice! I’ve had a Hurom slow juicer since 2012 and it still runs great. I mainly only do celery though. (Pretty boring. 😆) If I have an abundance of organic veggies I’ll add other things in, but I hardly ever use fruit. Ginger, turmeric is another fave in winter when I remember. I definitely don’t juice as often as I should because the cleanup drives me crazy. 😂🙈🙈
Thanks for these recipes. I’m new to plant based and the PB meals I have been making are delicious. My problem has been what to put on my salad. In the past it’s been O.O. and vinegar.. Thanks..
Just made the corn dressing too. I didn't have basil, so I used fresh cilantro. I used unsalted canned corn and used the juice from the can too. Excellent!
You can use white kidney beans in pretty much any recipe that calls for cashews! (It won't be quite as creamy, so sometimes I still use a small amount of cashews in addition, but that's optional.) In this video, I also have a recipe with chickpeas as the base: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wbpxVZi3aTs.html 😀😀
These all look delicious. What blender do you use? I have a large Vitamix, but I’m looking for a small one that can handle cashews, and it looks like yours managed easily. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Thank you! I have a Vitamix too. 😊 It's the V1200 which comes with a blender cup. amzn.to/3pUARgc There are a few models now with the "Self Detect" technology where you can use the blender cups or also the food processor attachment that Vitamix makes!
@@LetsEatPlants Thank you so much for getting back to me. I’ll definitely check it out. Hopefully there’s one to fit my blender. That would solve everything! 🤞🏻
@@LetsEatPlants Maddie. What shall I do about the oil layer that floats at the top of the Tahini jar?. I know it is naturally-occurred and the manufacturers say to stir it in, but I don't think they know how oil is harmful and unnecessary.
@@eBroncos I do stir it in because it helps the tahini to be the right consistency. (Same like with natural peanut butter.) I suppose you could pour it out but the consistency might be off. Up to you! 😊
Definitely not! 😅 I have a cashew ranch dressing in the description box of this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IUf6qiYG14k.htmlsi=5b7wxnW1YQxt_RLK I’d try this one to start. 😃
@@melissasprayberry5047 Sorry I actually should’ve checked this video more carefully before replying! 🙈🙈 There is a ranch dressing in this video… it’s the cauliflower ranch! Check the description box for the recipe. 😋😋
