I bought the Canyon Grail on 3 months ago….its great as I can now keep up with my son who is 35 years younger than me and 20kg lighter. Father and son rides are once again a regular event. ❤️
All apart from the Cannondale lefty fork easily clog up with mud on the top of the front fork as not enough clearance with a 42mm tyre. I agree though that having my Turbo Creo has made it a joy to ride again with a group after a knee replacement.
why is it that e-bikes are only considered 'acceptable' if you have some kind of debilitating physical issue, or you're 105 years old? this stupid e-bike snobbery is fading, but needs to go...at the end of the day, if they're encouraging people who otherwise wouldn't/couldn't have been riding to get out in the world and ride, then what's to hate? also - the Orbea Gain e-gravel bikes are pretty sweet too! :)
Couldn't agree more. And you are EXACTLY right. It's funny you say this because I was thinking this yesterday. I'm currently working on an e mountain bike video and making the video has me thinking I'll probably get one eventually. Thanks for the comment!
My problem with e bikes isn’t the bikes it’s the riders. Our area is full of them riding on mix use trails at 40 km/h next to people walking their dogs and or with small kids chasing butterflies. If you want to ride at that speed ride on the road
@@kevinthomson6324 That's also an issue with normal bike riders. A push bike can be ridden too fast on mixed trails too. E-bikes in my country (Australia) are required to have a cut-off point where assistance is not provided beyond 25 km/h. Other countries have similar limits. Some people hack the limiters, but the point remains that ANY bike can be a hazard to pedestrians when the rider is an idiot.
@@kevinthomson6324 see, this is why you are part of the major problem. The scenario you explained doesn't only apply to e-bikes, but on every bike on earth. Let me reverse what you stated, the problem is really on the riders, not the e-bikes.
I watched this video. Bought the Giant based on the recommendations. Worked fantastic for about 5 rides (400 miles). It's been to the shop 4 times, and over that time the firmware for the bike has been updated 5 times ( few times updated twice on same service). And twice within 3 days of doing diagnostics, and they can't figure out whats wrong with it. I haven't had the bike in my hands for longer than a month yet. On the 6th or 7th ride, the bike started shutting off randomly. Seems to be some kind of software/firmware issue. The bike would reboot but continue to repeatedly shut off, cutting out the power, left pedaling a 42 lb bike. Loads of disappointment here. This bike has the Giant name on the motor with "made by Yamaha" on the sticker. I think I'm going to move to the domane+ so I can go with my local shop still, but any feedback would be great.
I'm sorry to hear this...and I'm sorry my video led you to that bike. That's a shitty deal. I hope Giant makes this right. I think that Trek is a nice option. My only real life experience with these gravel e bikes is the Cannondale Lefty. My buddy has that one and has put nearly 3k miles on it with 0 issues.

And to support your comments on these bikes, I thought it would valuable to share my experience with you. You're genuine and we need more of that in the industry. My garage of Bikes is Giant hasn't let me down until now. I own a Giant 2019 Revolt 0 Advanced, for example and that bike is a beast. And my local shop with an Electric bike tech doesn't report giant ebikes having a serialized failure history. I do feel the 2021 Road+ Pro bike was an OEM experiment with their own software. Being in electrical engineering myself, I have my own beliefs where the issues stem, although that's not for me to diagnose as the customer. I hope you have the opportunity to review bikes in the future. Lots of reviews talk about "tech or engineering". I feel like you bring practicality to the media, combined with an athletes drive and motivation. One topic I would really love to hear about is suspension gravel bikes with pros and cons. Obviously weight is the topic. For Example, looking at that 2021 BMC gravel bike with rear dampening and adding something like the cannondale lefty or even the new short travel suspension fork would be a very interesting review. Compliance is a tricky area yet anything that increases miles is a gain in my mind.
@@SpinupSquad thank you for the kind words! I would like to get my hands on the new Sram Adventure line stuff to review. Looks awesome. Before long we will see that stuff on e bikes. The stuff looks great but right now it's still pricey and I can't just those upgrades when I have a gravel bike that works fine and I have a blast on.
i am wondering about the different speedlimits. Concerning the engine power, all ebikes should be able to support up to ~28mph or even more. But there are national laws that force you to limit the Speed by software . (e.g. GER 26 kph). Anyway, there are tools on the market, that manipulate the messured speed and let your ebike run faster than the 26kph... Do US versions have different software speedlimit of stack?
Only a fool pays 12 plus for a stupid bicycle... U can get an awesome adventure MC for that kind of money... Barnum said it best... "There's a sucker born every minute"... The companies charge this kind of money because... Idiots pay this kind of money!... Bike probably costs the company less than a grand to make.
