You should, the easiest way to start is get a precon that has an effect you like and upgrade it.

If you have a play group, definitely get a deck. If you don’t, many LGS tables will let you join their games.

I would start playing, I just don’t have anyone to play it with and there aren’t any local game stores in my area unfortunately. If theres an easy way to play online I would definitely try and get into it.

Volo is my favorite to play. It's frustrating when people recognize the problem to the board state that he is, but if he makes it around for an early turn, he is no longer the best thing on my board to remove

@@Tariq8ification He isn't boring at all. I enjoy borrowing spells from your opponents exile piles while prosper is in play.

@@bigmanwonderland2296 Prosper is boring because people will kill him on sight, everyone plays him, and all Prosper decks play the exact same way.

Prosper is great! I usually use magda to search out bolas’ citadel or aetherflux reservoir.

This is version one, I already plan to tweek it, but your win cons are this. Get prosper out and then just disrupt your oppenents. Save on to your giant treasure generators like brass's bounty when you can. You first win con is "kill it with fire" where you have cards out like mayhem devil, nightblade, fireweaver, and disciple out. Chandra is also good for just consistent two damage across the board. You use devil and disciple to get everyone at around the same life total, then go ham on creating and sacking treasures to burn them down. The other night I did about 25 damage to everyone, I would have won had they the whole table not worked to take me out. Your other two win cons are with Revel in riches and hellkite tyrant with dockside. This is your backup incase they completely destroy your burn engine and there is no way to recover those cards. If both options are out then it sucks, but you can still win with just big creatures like chandra and goldspan dragon helping out. The main goal is this though, if you can, always try to keep it at a four person game, killing someone real fast actually hurts you as the more players there are the more cards you potentially have access too. Also if any of your cards you really need to win are an opponents, if you kill them they take their card and its gone.

Out of the precon Licia interested me the most because of the art and her lore but I struggle to figure out how to start

@@Hysterikku Ultimately, she's a Voltron commander that you use explosive lifegain to cheat the cost of. Throw in as many counter synergies that you can (The Ozolith is probably the best card for her) and you're off! Obviously, anything with lifegain payoff is good, but it can be a little bit "win more"-y.

​@@kingginger3335it actually doesn't. I know, it's weird. The reason is it's not created under your control. It's created on the stack, and then put under your control. If you don't want to trust me, you can look it up. It's a well-known weird interaction in the rules community

@@NitpickingNerds the deck building was a ton of fun not only finding really obscure creature types but only using one of each type to garuntee you double up the effects

​@@owendumas7500the funny little volo deck I'm building is built around creatures with morph, since casting then face down they don't have a creature type. plus most morph cards are super cheap, god I love basing a edh deck around forgotten mechanics

@@DevildudeEMZ no problem! It’s a super fun deck. 2 other people in my groups have made him after playing against mine. He has the potential to go crazy but doesn’t ever seem unfair.

He makes for some wacky mutate decks though. Put in some mana generating creatures to get stupid ramp the turn after he's played. Also works well because you don't play him with Humans so everything other than him is a viable mutate target

@@serunderscore But isn't that just another simic value engine. It works because you get double the triggers.

Most decks are value engines my guy, and 90% of the ones that aren’t are just stax garbage. “Get more resources” is a pretty broad descriptor.

@@baconsir1159 you are confusing synergy and synergistic effects with value engines. It's absolutely synergistic to play ramp and elementals in my Omnath deck, it does generate me some value too, but it isn't the entire point. With things that are just value engines it doesn't matter what you do and if what you do synergies with eachother. You sre looking to accumulate different valuable effects to overwhelm you opponents with the advantage gained that way. In the case of volo this means you play cards for there etb and there etb alone in a lot of cases. They rarely if at all interact with other cards in your library for any neat synergy, let alone to combine to something. In contrast Fertilied in my omnath deck does provide me with value, by ramping me, but it's creature type and the fact it uses counters also work with bot RG and RGU omnath to boost it from just being a generic good card to a card that is actively better due to the environment (deck) it's played in. Volo being a pseudo panharmonicon effect doesn't do that in almost all cases.
