4 outta of 5 of those complaints is just due to lack of maintenance. suspension is not intended to last 25 years and not be replaced. body parts deteriorate, rubber deteriorates. viscous diffs are great when they are new, but guess what, they wear out. So when you complain about these things, you are complaining about yourself and your lack of maintenance.
....if you pay close attention; you'll notice that the Z ashtray is exceptionally well placed for consuming mind bogling amounts of cigarettes while allowing you to shift and drive at twice the speed limit at ALL times! Very efficient, very Japanese!
dude the build quality of that ashtray is insane! the mechanism works flawless and feels like a premium product, none of that flimsy plastic, that shit will outlast the human race
Body roll is an issue on sagging worn out suspension. Not just your struts. Bushings on literally everything are likely long gone. Going to poly bushings on everything, plus some solids for the subframe would eliminate a ton. Plus a rear strut bar.
I don't have any problems with my seatbelts, I just unbuckle for I open the door and close the door before I buckle. I blame the difficulty on your seats lol. why didn't you complain about the lack of space around the engine? that's my least favorite thing about the car
I'd have to agree, with stock seats the seat belts aren't a problem at all. My buddies 300zx has Bride seats and I can barely stand to sit in his car. That would be my most hated thing about your car most likely if the seats are anything like his. He also has 5 point harnesses, they are a complete pain in the ass I can't stand them. I find his car to be the least comfortable car I've ever sat in, where as my 300zx is rather comfortable.
@02:49 they fixed that seatbelt feature in later model z33's. but for your z, its attached to the door for an "automatic seatbelt" feature. leave your seat belt hooked up and open the door. u can step rite out. then jump back in the car and close he door. u automatically have ur seat vel on.
Great Video keep em coming! I also own a Nissan 300zx tt 95 that does not have those seat belts! They are the usual conventional ones! Also upgraded the coilovers to fully adjustable ones and i just love the car! They have many problems but they are just amazing cars to own!
- ]TARKUS[ - agree yours is pretty rough Remember you vin is printed on most of the things on your Z mines all numbers matching except my t tops o have a silver z put some blk t tops but still own the originals
Interestingly, out of all the cars I own, the 300ZX is the only 1 I DON'T miss lol. But mine was a lemon that I paid waaaaaay too much for. I still have huge respect for them as a marque.
Glad things are going great with you and the car man!!! Im loving the 240 as well.. Excited to see the 300zx with some coilovers and paint.. Anyways take it easy bro!!
All things that made me love the car (aside from the wing, i feel that one.) but the seatbelt is so cool :) its the same way in my 91 sentra i just got, just gotta grab it with your left arm :)
Have you made a video on how to Change the water pump? My 92 N/a just blew an alternator belt, knocking off the ac and power steering belt. causing my water pump to seize ...Im fairly new to the Nissan world so any help is GREATLY appreciated, pointers too. Thank you in Advance!
I haven't made a video but I would just hit the forums. it seems straight forward though. go ahead and get new belts and pump and do it all together. it's pretty much the same amount of work, just a little extra money for belts.
Dude, I feel your pain but a twenty five year old hero car like yours deserves some proper maintenance. The suspension for starters along with updated brakes for and you'd have a monster in your pants. Also, I would never allow mine to be that filthy and then show it on video. Clean your axe up man. You don't know how lucky you are to own such a marvelous piece of engineering and automotive history. My Z32 was my third Z and the best of the lot. Having driven vettes and a Ferrari from the same era there was no comparison. The Z was heads and shoulders above anything else in its class as well as being a rather dependable panty dropper. I once had a date get in and comment that she felt like she should take her shoes, off, of course I heartily encouraged her to continue on that course of action and after a few turns with the sound of the mighty Z32 under the hood she was putty in hand. If you get my drift.
Hey at least you got a tt, I found a na that was sitting for years, had a dead rat in it, but she's up and running right now and I love it!!! only 66K miles!!!!
Two words: PM (preventive maintenance) Most rubber or soft components are eventually going to dry out and fail. I hate t-tops on any car. I had a Z-32 with the solid roof. It was called the "slicktop " model. That's the best version of these cars to own, turbo or not.
water leaking inside the cabin during a car wash or on a rainy day is very common. pretty much anybody who has owned any Z with a t-top (280zx - 300zx, 1980 - 1996) has had to deal with this. i got the same problem on my Z31. can't get mad at it... its just old. rubbers get crappy and seals breakdown. you can fix this by replacing those rubber seals.
they r still nice cars after 25 years compared to most that old no doubt.all stock for 2 years is all i can stand tho..nice ride.post ur upgrades so i can see what i wana do or dont on ours?
The 300zx tt was the slowest in a straight line compared to the Mistu 3000gt VR4, Toyota Supra TT and RX-7 TT; turn the boost up more and theyre beastly though. Like others have said, this is all regular maintenance shit. I had one, great cars, still beautiful today.
body roll is probably the worse about this car, i had a full jug of car wax in the back took a left turn to fast and now the trunk panel is cracked , hah
you can get lunch box locker to convert an open dff but, i think i' rather have a VLSD, they say the VLSD is best street LSD. idk. i'm interested in your thoughts on not liking the VLSD. they put the lunch box lockers aka LSD conversions on civics and what not but, i've never seen anyone run one longer than 50K miles without rebuilding as they always beat the shit out of so no one has done a long term test on the open diff conversions.
cdoublejj it's just my experience that vlsd goes out over time faster the say a helical or clutch type. but everyone has different experiences and thoughts and budgets so stick to what you're comfortable with
cdoublejj idk about a vlsd trans. the differential has nothing to do with the transmission in a rear wheel drive car. but yes, the lack of traction come from wear and tear over the years
i think the 300zx have a vg30 engine? it's basically in the same family as the vq series which is in a lot of front wheel drive cars like the i35 and maxima. Diff's in the transaxle. :-/
All 91's have that belt setup due to govt regulatory issues. Coilovers can be way too stiff w bad roads around here, I been in one and its ROUGH to the pt is actiallu slows you down. Viscous rear diff is more for track use and not drag use. Car is not a drag car. Rear wing is horrible, I will agree, heavy and rots. Mine is garahed and I need to repl my wing. But now there are plenty of aftermkt alternatives that match or upgrade stock wings and are lighter too.
im afraid to look under the factory wing on our car.. it gona be ugly nodoubt..none of the weatherstripping leaks ,but that wing holds water fo sho.. these cars were engineered to handle alot of abuse..they started to cut corners aftr 1990..but they still built a very nice car...ours has titanium ignition key that doesnt hav a scratch on it 27 yrs later,at 90,000mi. were at 350wheel horse now, with only minor upgrades..physically,not that much room to work on them,but1 of the best cars we have tweaked.. looking for a set of 370 rims if any1 has a set ..
+ARAuto you should buy a kaminari wing if you dont like the tt spoiler...i have this on mine and love it...conceptzperformance.com/kaminari-frp-flush-mount-wing-w-oem-style-tt-light-nissan-300zx-90-96-z32-k031452_p_9907.php
buy a good example of this car and drive it as it was meant.. as a good weather car.. then bitch. these cars aren't perfect that true. but these are special cars
hey I think this is why many Z's have made it to their grave cause they end up being owned by dummies who don't understand the car hey but that's just my thought
Bro why complain about it lmao man up you say you love the car and complain about things that can be fixed my maitenence every single thing you said you can fix and not every car of that exact model has those problems who wants to watch a video about someone whining, its a legendary car. Obvoulsy you have no experience with the car learn the game or don't play, racing + fun = deep pockets and balls get some
Did anyone notice that his whining didn't actually FIX any of the problems he was complaining about? Gee, I wonder why not? Dude, buy a set of tools and a service manual for the car. Learn to search Ebay to replace what you need to replace. Personally I think it looks cleaner without the wing. Other commenters have stated that the Canadian and European market Z32's had conventional belts. Sounds like a good place to look for some parts to replace that dumb passive restraint belt system. On a personal note, if those silly anti-government types had BOTHERED to wear regular seatbelts, we might not have had 20 years of road carnage and emerency room visits resulting from car crashes where the dumb fool didn't strap in their belt. Then MAYBE, we wouldn't have had the government mandating exploding bags and motorized strangulation belts to replace the conventional seatbelts we should have been using in the first place! To the guy posting the video - rather than blaming the car for your lack of due diligence researching the car's issues in the first place, how about fixing the issues you were whining about, then come back to us and let us know if they are still valid issues? Just a thought. Good luck with the car.
