-----Please stop doing--- 1. Eating out one to two times a week. 2. Negative self talk. 3. Focusing on end result. 4. Restricting anything. 5. Caring what other people thought. Thank you for sharing. 👍👏

@@NWSIMU It makes sense if you have two jobs (like she did at the time), it would be difficult to have spare time to make healthy meals. A couple of my friends have delivery jobs and they tended to get food along the way. Personally I'm not the type that goes out to eat more than once every 2 weeks or so, but for her situation she had no choice because of her two jobs to eat out.

When you say “ I can’t explain it, or it doesn’t make sense”, trust me, most of us get it cause we’ve been there too. We do understand because we’ve felt the same way at times. Kudos to you for putting it all together and getting it all together. I’m still working on that. 🙏💜

One of the things I was taught over 50 years ago is - not to care what others think. If people speak poorly of you (even without knowing you!) it says more about them than it does about you so always take the higher ground, smile, be kind and polite because IT FREAKS PEOPLE OUT! They won’t know how to handle you - trust me, it works! I worked with a woman who belittled me behind my back constantly, yet when her mother died I bought a lovely ‘In Sympathy’ card, wrote some kind words inside and offered to assist her in her work - and made sure everyone in the office saw me leave it on her desk!!! I wasn’t there when she opened it but boy, did her attitude towards me (have to) change ‘cos people saw HER for the ‘stirrer’ she was. Go girl !!!

I'm still dealing with the ex. Chewing gum helps. Eating Keto but I rarely eat tree nuts as they have carbs too. I was watching a PBS channel when a woman started saying how weight wasn't our fault but more food addiction/allergies were the issue. So a doctor had so many patients with health issues so he said for three weeks (21 days) to cut out food groups to see how you feel. And later reintroduce them. They are soy, sugar (all sweeteners even the no sugar sweeteners), corn, peanuts, eggs, dairy and gluten. What you CAN eat is fruit, vegetable protein drinks, coconut products, meat and vegetables. No alcohol, of course because it turns into sugar in your system. So big salads with lemon, olive oil dressing and some garlic with chicken... guacamole is allowed, baked potatoes with salsa or olive oil. Well, people returned to the doctor stunned how quickly they lost stubborn 10, 20 and more lbs and felt better. It's called the Anti inflammatory Diet/Elimination Diet. You can continue or add items after 21 days. It works!

Me too! Last November I was told by my nurse that the doctor said I had high cholesterol and I need to make major changes in my life. Stop going out to eat stop eating processed foods stop eating fried, breaded foods drink lots of water low fat low carb low cholesterol. I started following his rules and next thing I knew I started losing weight! plus I learned that I was only supposed to be having 24 g of sugar per day according to the American Heart Association so I started following that plus I have high blood pressure so I'm already supposed to be doing low sodium so I never salt my food at the table or cook adding salt to my food. I started out being 264 pounds at the end of last November and I just reached a major goal that I wanted to do ever cents I had my kid 27 years ago and put a whole bunch of weight, that is to get under 200 pounds! I am now 198.2 :-) I exercise 20 minutes every weekday at home. And I do a lot of things that she has said she does in some of her other videos too. So I feel like I am also on the right track. Still want to lose another 28pounds at least. oh, and I used to be prediabetic and now I am no longer prediabetic anymore! My A1c panel was 5.1

Like she said, I have not completely stopped going out to eat and I do go up on my sugars occasionally on special occasions. But we used to eat out 3 4 5 times a week and now I try to only eat out once or twice a month. Sometimes I go over 24 g of sugar on the weekend but usually not past 30. Also like her I occasionally eat a meal for special occasions like today my sister had a cookout so I am splurging today and having some cook out food. my new favorite saying is all things in moderation lol. like her I went cold turkey the first month or so with not eating out at all also stop doing sugar at all and that really helped because I used to be so badly addicted to sugar. I would have 34 g of sugar in just one cup of coffee between the liquid creamers and sugar cubes I put into it. now I am down to only 10 sugars for a cup of coffee. I used to drink a A And W root beer every day that has almost 40 g of sugar in just one can one 12 ounce can. every time we ate out it was almost always McDonald's and I would almost always get a southern style sweet tea. A large sweet tea and I don't want to tell you how many sugars are in that lol. I don't even crave the sweet tea or the A&W root beer or any pop anymore though. I drink four, almost 5 16.9 ounce bottles of water every day. Occasionally drinking Welches 100% grape juice for something different. while still drinking the water though. I will say I have been interested in doing WW a friend of mine from my church runs the one here in my small town and my sister just got Medicaid and so she was told she gets three months free or even more with Medicaid. So she's interested in doing it. I'm thinking about it because even though I've lost over 65 pounds pretty much on my own it is slowing down and I am not able to lose as much as fast as I would like to or was able to before.

I don't tell people when I'm watching what and how much I eat and how active I am because while I'm above my average weight and BMI, I'm smaller than most of my family. My hangup is that I don't want others to feel bad for any reason. Like "What must she think of ME if she thinks she needs to diet?" Does that make sense? Does anyone else feel this way? You might say that I'm a closet dieter. I don't cut out all sweets either. When I have them, I don't go overboard though.
@sapphirewright6258
@sapphirewright6258 5 месяцев назад
I feel that so much at times but then I think you're not going to pay my health bills. I don't want my family to have to take care of me because I chose not to lose weight. Also, I just do it in silence unless people ask. It's hard because you want to be able to share your progress with others but I am learning more that just being healthy is a form of self respect!!! The best thing you could do for them is remind them how much you love them, don't try to get them to eat healthier with them unless they're ready, and take the space you need to get healthy.

I prefer eating keto because it’s an anti inflammatory food plan - I’ve severe joint issues since childhood and I ain’t no spring chicken now lol! The thing most people don’t realize is that you can’t “go on a diet”. It’s a lifetime commitment. Yes - you can occasionally have something not on your food plan. What you can’t do is have “a cheat meal. Then a cheat snack. Then a cheat meal again.” Before you know it you’re completely off your food plan and gaining weight. If you do fall off the wagon - get right back on track. Realistically it’s better to try and stay on program. With keto there’s always a recipe to accommodate what you might be craving. Additionally your cravings for a lot of things will go away after awhile.

Loving your videos! I’m 50 and have done WW for most of my life off and on. At least 1/2 of it. LOL I believe in the program but sometimes I get tired of tracking and fretting over points. I lost 11 lbs late last year and was walking a lot but some pain issues caused me to stop for the past 5-6 months. I’m back at it now and enjoying it and your videos sure are an inspiration. Thank you! I have about 38 lbs to lose. I’m a Lifetime member from circa 2014. 🤪 I’m an RN and I think I stress ate and drank over job changes and COVID the last few years… hence the massive uppage in poundage. 😭

I’m 50 and a RN as well. I’ve decreased my stress my working relief instead of full time, and I only take PAC shifts. I still, however, have not lost any weight. I need to lose at least 25 pounds, and I can’t seem to do it. I can’t get my head around it.
@Marie0304

@@patriciakeats1621 well, people say it’s mostly the food choices that we make (drink too!- lord knows I like a good alcoholic beverage sometimes!) … not so much the exercise/activity. I’ve been watching a lot of these videos to get inspired. I’m finally in the 160’s this week… Been in the 170’s for a few years now, I think. The last time I was in the 170’s was when I first discovered WW in the mid 1990’s. It’s not a weight I’m comfortable at. Ugh. I’m 5’6”. I’ve been eating a lot of filler foods like chopped veggies with my eggs in the morning and throwing them in salads. Adds bulk and no cals.
@catspjs6229
@catspjs6229 Год назад
@@patriciakeats1621track what you eat on a regular day. Add it up, let’s say you’re eating 2700 calories, minus 500 calories and you’re at a 500 calorie deficit and that’s about a .5 to 1 pound weight loss. Introduce cardio! Cardio cardio cardio! It builds strength and endurance and besides burying calories you’ll feel better. Slowly introduce weights. Most everyone starts at a 500 calorie deficit. You can do it!

I did it without a program, but I did what you did. My husband and I started out checking the carbs on our regular fast food diet plus restaurant stuff and we were blown away and we were both Type 2 diabetics. We watched a lot of RU-vid videos of people who were having success like you! So helpful! And your video is terrific and so good as a refresher for me (lost 92 pounds over 5 years and still losing a half pound or so every week still), especially that negative talk. I'm so glad you focus on that too. Great video.

I have had a serious struggle losing weight over the last 12 years…but today I had an AH HA moment. I can relate that moment to this. It’s like building a wardrobe. You identify what you look good in and what you are drawn to and you can build a nice wardrobe from there. So you end the mindless shopping for random things you never wear. Well today I was driving and I told my husband since I quit my job (Aug 31) I feel so much better. It’s taken me a whole week to come down from the stress and my eating habits have completely changed. I eat my meals slowly and actually care about what and how much I am eating. So for me identifying the stress and changing it (quitting the stressful job) so I can feel good and not be inclined to bad eating habits has made a world of difference. The stress on this job was not average stress we may feel it was lots of stress constantly and previous to that there were other things. So yes, I can be a stress over eater and yes I can overcome that bad habit by creating the life I want for myself and doing things that make me happy ❤

I set goals, but if I don't reach them, I adjust them. I was losing 3kg a month, now I'm losing 2kg a month, so my new targets are based on me losing 2kg a month. The main thing for me is that I'm still losing and not gaining, not slipping backwards. I think the goals keep me focused and committed. I can understand how not reaching goals is soul destroying and in that respect perhaps not a good method, but if a person can change their attitude and use the missed opportunity as a wake up call to make some adjustments or be realistic and understand as you get lighter the metabolism slows. I know I'm doing everything right, so there's not much else I can do.

Wonderful! IF you get sick or hit a place in life’s journey, just go with and get well or grieve and get back on track. Always keep inspiring books close to your bed or favorite chair. Buy a few cheap blank journals. Date and write notes about the hard times and how you got through it. Keep them. You’ll be glad you did. So happy to hear of your success. If you ever watch the 600+ pound shows, it makes me so sad that these people are in their 20’s and 30’s! So young - too young - to be fat and sick. Each decade of your life will have challenges but you will be able to deal with them much better IF you are on track with your good food habits. I’m in my 60s and wish I had had a cheerleader to encourage me to keep on track - no matter what. Now I am back to heathy eating and not giving up. Good Health is everything. Yes genetics plays a big part, but you are on the right path!🦋

"There's nothing wrong with me going to the gym to try to better myself." Good God....lather, rinse, repeat. I need to tattoo that on the inside of my danged eyelids. Everything you've said resonates at a very basic level with me; I think it probably does with a good many of us. I'm also a secret-keeper; it drives my artist friends nuts that I won't share my art with them before it goes up in a video...makes 'em mad about 90% of the time, and my art secrets can't lead my weight/mental secrets a light to go by. I had the sleeve surgery about 6 years ago. I lost 165 pounds. It was mind blowing. But I didn’t quite grasp the concept of the work that I had to put into it. I do have some health issues that have hindered me from exercising but I did the majority bad choices of gaining the majority of the weight back. So now I made the decision to join WW online. I am in shock of how much I was eating when I thought I was “cutting back”. The point system has been an adjustment but also an eye opener. I’m excited as to how the future is going to go. Though I’ve been slower than previous times, I am proud of myself because I am not completely depriving myself and feeling like I can’t have a social life. I have told very few people only because I don’t want people, especially family to have a bunch of opinions as if they are dietitians. Also, in the past when I’ve been to family events they are all watching what I eat and making suggestions as if I should only eat vegetables.

Weight Watchers was a huge wake up call to me as well! I absolutely was stunned at the point value in foods! Food that you wouldn't even twice about. Just in a MINI butterfinger blizzard-18 points!!! And I was having those just about every day! The sugar content in popular items such as iced coffees is unbelievable! And those are soooo popular right now. WW has completely changed how I look at things. Don't get me wrong-I'm not one to turn down a piece of birthday cake-ha! I just don't have those type of foods all the time.

Good for you and I love your tips! WW was a game changer for me and I've kept the weight off. If I see the scale inching up, I eat only zero point foods for a few days. We eat out seldom, but when we do, I try to look at the menu online beforehand so I can know what will work for me.

Sound advice! Thanks Nikki! I'm definitely loving the copycat takeout meals from your cookbook. Looking forward to incorporating those meals into my meal rotation. I'm guilty of eating takeout frequently during the busy work week. No excuses now! I can make healthy just as satisfying meals at home.

I’ve been eating really well the last couple weeks and my husband got McDonald’s today and I took a bite of his McGriddle and I almost wanted to eat the whole thing but checked my fitness pal and it’s 500 calories!!! For ONE sandwich. No thank you. Eye opening for sure

I wanted to use MyFitnessPal because of the ability to scan foods but now I see that you have to have a paid premium membership for that ability. Is that true, and are you a paid member or a free one? I always heard good things about this app but now I'm not sure if I want to try it. Thanks!

Thank you. I’ve been on the fence to try WW. And now I think I can. I’ve been doing the Keto mentality not loosing weight on it. At first I did and then after 10 pounds. Nothing. And I just kept eating what ever buttery things and bacon. Thinking this is keto. Fat helps you loose fat. Wrong! I just had a cholesterol check and I’m over. Omg! Wake up call! For those who think you can eat all the meat and butter. I’m pack paddling now. Anyways, glad I found someone who is doing WW. ❤

My older sister always said "it's good you have brains". She was always the thin sister. Years after my yoyo weight I met up with my ex and he told me I was "so hot when he met me in my 20s". Dang I wished I knew that and felt that. Every time I am single I lose Wright everytime I am in a relationship I gain weight. I eat what they eat although I am just 5 ft. I now realize why I gain and why I lose. It is just a matter of keeping myself focused.

I used your code to join WW and while I'm on day 2, I like it! It is more straight forward than trying to figure out calories in everything. It seems like the concept is healthy food is lower points than processed junk. I still get to eat junk, I just have to decide which kinds of junk I want. I also did not realize how much I was really eating until now. I also like how it isn't restrictive-if I'm starving and don't have room for more snacks, I can have zero point foods. Today I used my microwave air popper to make oil free popcorn and then put some garlic salt on it.
