Just picked up a 2018 XLT got a great deal for Presidents day sale. I have to say to anyone looking to buy skip the 5 liter because the 3.5 liter Ecoboost is a Mini Beast under the hood . Combined with the 10 speed transmission you put your foot down and your hitting ludicrous speed in nothing flat. I absolutely love the Ecoboost engine.
I screwed up. I bought the 5.0 V8 and the dealer never told me that the 3.5 is faster and has more torque plus towing. I don't have buyers remorse because the FX4 I have is a beast.
@@rtg722 but some 18 and up like mine has oil consumption issues. I'm going through the dealer usage test now. I bought it with 23k and by the 5k mile oil change I had put a total of 3 qt. In her. Also have a decel rattle. I never had a chevy let me down this bad.
Plug a 7 PIN TO 4 PIN adaptor into the trailer wiring socket. It will fool the truck that a trailer is connected and defeat the auto stop/ start function in all driving modes
Just got my 2018 Platinum. If you hold the seat memory button until it chimes a second time it will program the truck for the key you are using. So, the next time you enter the vehicle all the presets (seat, mirrors, etc) will automatically go to their positions.
Luckily my current F150 Ecoboost doesn't have auto on/off. However my wife's new Jeep Grand Cherokee does have it. I was able to unplug the hood sensor, and keep the stop/start feature completely turned off.
Love videos like these! These are the videos that no one else puts out. I know all the major and minor details! I want to know it all! Including the MICRO details. Great Job T&C TV!
All you need is one toothpick [ round ] to disable stop - start. Push the off button in and push toothpick into the gap between the button and the side. Break the toothpick off, Done
One thing you failed to mention is that you can't change the color and/or brightness of the ambient lighting anymore!. I don't know what FORD was thinking when they made that decision!!!
Oh thank goodness. It's just so hard for those poor 2017 F150 Lariat owners to manually turn on the heated seats. Now they can have the break they finally deserve.
Hey Mitchell, I was bouncing between a new 2017 F150 and a 2018. I ended up with a '17 Platinum with a 6/27/17 build date. The truck has the 10-speed and many many features (701A) with park assist- loaded. Aside from the new front and tailgate, what other things are 2018 different from my new ride? I note the drive modes as one difference.
Just picked up a 2018 F150 supercrew with the 5.0. Only thing I'm not crazy about is it has a 3.55 gear ratio. But the price was hard to beat and it only has 49,000 miles on it.
Is the high pitch ringing noise after the truck is off normal? Sounds sort of like an electrical type of whine. I don’t think it’s specific to the ecoboost or the 5.0. Both can have it it sounds like
How about exhaust and cold air kits? I know the 5.0 is different but will those have to be a brand new design or can a 2017 exhaust kit and cold air work?
Hopefully you don’t have problems with the inner cooler like somebody had with 2 different F-150’s. It would suddenly drop from 60 to 30 in an instant almost causing to get rear ended
Does the 2017 Auto start/stop come on the STX package? It does not seem to work even though I have the option button and it is on my display. When I hit the brake the letter A with the circle arrow around it lights up with a line going through it. What gives???
Ford has had it...I have a 2006 lincoln zephyr (new model is mkz). My lincoln has heated & cooled memory seats. Pretty cool for a car values at about 5k on KBB and has leather seats.
Good info, my favorite feature is the memory heated seats, I'm in alberta, canada and I hate coming in my car and sitting down on my leather seats in the winter which feels like sitting on a brick of ice.
Also For 2018, Ford did away with the external transmission oil cooler, and the engine oil cooler. They are not on the Trailer tow 53b, or the Max Trailer Tow 53C package any longer as options.
That's all well and good. Now can they figure out why my oil pan leaks, after three attempts at repairing it. Or when is my long block coming ?This is a '16 F150 2.7 were talking about with 15 K on the odometer.
Nice.. Three weeks ago I ordered a 2019 f150 4x2 regular cab short box with 2.7 twin turbo, 10 speed and 3:73 gears. It's XLT with 301A package in Magnetic. Nice!! How about a video about a truck like this?.... :-) Hopefully it's in by the end of the month (Sept '19)
I swore I heard the tick earlier my 5.0 2018 has 400 miles on it. I had a flowmaster muffler 1 in 2 0ut super 44 installed the other day and got on the ground thinking there was shitty gapped welds at the joints that were making the ticking noise like little air bursts and then I realized it was the engine. I'm hoping the roush cold air intake I just ordered doesn't make it worse. But the premium 6yr 100k mile powertrain warranty relieves my worries about the tick a little!
Did you know that "Air Conditioned /Cooled" seats are no longer available? They are now replaced with ventilated seats. Mike Levine at Ford confirmed this. Has anyone been able to test them while it's still hot?
Hey town and country: Which configuration has the best acceleration? Reg Cab Short bed 4x4 5.0 v8 10 speed, Reg Cab LONG bed 4x4 3.5 ecoboost 10 speed XLT w/ the highest configurable axle ratio, OR lastly the reg cab short bed 2WD 5.0 v8 work truck stripped out model but w/10 speed as a standalone? I've done heavy research on this new f150... the numbers are frankly mind boggling.. the amount of capability in the reg cab long bed xlt 4wd 3.5 ecoboost 10 speed w/ the fattest tires, highest numerical axle ratio, fx4 etc. is worlds better than competitors 2500 HD diesel models produce... I believe that trim i mentioned holds 3650lbs payload and tows over 13,000lbs, then if equipped with nokian studded winter tires it'd be a monster of a plow truck, I imagine one of those could complete the work of 5 lesser trucks.. what with cold weather improving boost and how little it weighs, these new ford trucks are an engineering masterpiece, I'd go so far as to say they're the best trucks ever made.
Bought a 2017 King Ranch F150. Had to Lemon Law it due to excessive drive train vibration. Bought a 2018 F150 Lariat with a Powerstroke. Couldn't be happier! Would never consider a Fiat Ram.
Love your vids. Too bad you are in bama. Go Tigers of LSU!!! I have an '18 F150. Great truck. Everyone must visit Dearborn, MI - The Henry Ford, Greenfield Village, et. al. NOT a Ford advert, true Americana.
In the 2016 F150 king ranch, is there a way to turn on cruise control and leave it there, without having to manually turn it on every time you start the truck?
I have an F150 XLT - my problem: I cannot find out from anyone, anywhere as to how to delete my incoming text messages. Tried everything! Was at the dealer for service no one could help
All of the new motors, including the gen 2 ecoboosts, have both port and direct injection. Fuel will passively clean the intake valve again. This wasn't a gen 1 ecoboost issue specifically , it's general maintenance on any direct injection engine to clean the intake valves every 50k-60k miles using a media blaster, and only because of exhaust gas recirculation that is now moot with Atkinson cycle. The government emission regulations are about 20 years behind modern tech. That 2.7l is actually probably the most durable motor in the lineup. It's built like a modern diesel, except far less complex. That being said, a ten speed transmission is pointless on the ecoboosts when they put out maximum torque over such a wide rpm range. The future diesel will love it though.
mule nine yes by adding Port Injection along with Direct injection. What they also did though was take the majority of the port injection engines, I.e. the 5.0 liter and added direct injection. Pretty soon we should be seeing the start stop button in the coyote engine in the mustang gt and new 5.2 liter predator.....sad days.
Auto stop/start? I am not a buyer unless I can permanently disable. Don’t tell me about tricking it to think I’m pulling a trailer, using a plug in that deletes the use of my reverse camera, or pushing a button every damn time I get into it for a drive. Auto start stops creates a lot of unnecessary damage to starter motor not to mention flex plate and rod bearings.
Start/Stop is on almost every new car & truck; has nothing to do with Ford. Manufacturers are doing this to help meet CAFE standards for efficiency. It's on BMW, Alfa Romeo, Toyota, etc.
Exactly! Haters aren't usually the smartest bunch... logic and reason are lost on those types. "dumb Ford and that dumb auto start stop"...meanwhile, every other large truck and SUV is coming out with them. LOL
I've had 4 brand new ones in a row. I've put 100,000 miles on all of them with zero issues. Maybe some day you will be able to afford a new one, then you will be able to make a more well informed comment.
I like your guys videos. But you always show the same trucks and talk about 2019 f150 . or the 2.7 ecoboost f150, lariat, raptor in all videos. Show something different. Talk about other f150. Fx4 special edition 3.5 ecoboost but not the same tipe of trucks. But good videos.👍
northlander it means you've been brainwashed ford is #1 ford is #1 hoohooohoo it's a bunch of dribble for feeble minded folk which most are. Brand loyalty best sales. It's hilarious. Like a bunch of sheep being led around. Hahaha it's fucking sad.
C Steele So the Ecoboosts are not the best selling versions of the best selling truck series in the US? I'd like to see your data to support that. Hell, the F series the best selling vehicle in the US period by a margin of 42% compared to the Silverado. On top of that, sales of the F series were up 5% last year and Silverado sales were down 4%. #data
if you want ppl to follow you on instagram, you have to follow back. it doesn't cost you anything to follow back, most ppl will unfollow if you do not follow back
Dont forget it eats oil really bad and transmission is garbage stay away unless you want to be in the dealership all the time do your research on 2018 f150 5.0 oil consumption and transmission problems
Auto start stop, Absolutely most useless thing on the truck!!! My second Ford with it on and never use it!!! Why they insist on bring it back I have no idea!!
You didn’t talk about Transmission failure ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iIZIKnj8Kqc.html Power steering failure ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gO9vtwFda8I.html
