5 Unanswered Questions in Pokémon Sword and Shield 

You’re forgetting the most important question: *who the hell is ball guy?*

Ive got a pretty good question: How can the sunlight be harsh at nighttime?

I'm pretty sure that Sword and Shield takes place years after sun and moon. This is because of the rotom phones. In sun and moon the rotom dex was a prototype.

When Galar was first revealed I had a theory that Kalos fought with Galar in the war 3000 years ago. Since real life Britain and France fought many battles with each other. I think that sword and shield take place in the Non mega timeline where the weapon was never fired because of the lack of mega evolutions. Also it was a HUGE missed opportunity to not include anything from Kalos.

Question 1 can already be answered as in Type Nulls pokèdex entries it mentions that a spy from Macro Cosmos was in aether paridise and stole some documents of Type Null so most likely thats how Beast balls got to Galar.

I thought for a while that Swordward and Shieldbert were ghosts because of the way their eyes rolled back when you defeated them in battles.

Theirs another mystery people seem to overlooked, the Watchtower Ruins contains an inactive den within the Watchtower itself.

There are a few I've found: - The Ghost Girl in Hammerlocke - The "Authorized Personnel Only" Room Guarded by a Macro Cosmos Guard in the locker room of the Wyndon Stadium - The Watchtower Ruins Den - What's up with Allister's past? I imagine a couple of those will be answered in the DLC, primarily the Watchtower Ruins den, with the new Den Exploration Concept.

Diamond and pearl remakes with ultra beasts kinda makes perfect sense, especially since we know that the creation trio each live in a different dimension and we can encounter them in different dimensions through the ultra wormholes. Maybe we’ll get new ultra beasts too, and maybe we’ll finally be able to see what stakataka and blacephalon’s world looks like

You missed the most important question: How the hell does Sordward and Shielberts hair stay the way it does.

My question: What do the original halves of the fossil Pokemon look like?

I love Opal. I want to see more of Her. She would have been a great Elite 4 member if the Game had that.

Type: Null's Pokédex entry in Sword clearly explains that this game takes place after his creation in Alola: "Rumor has it that the theft of top-secret research notes led to a new instance of this Pokémon being created in the Galar region."

Here's something that went totally unanswered: the GHOST GIRL in Hammerlocke.

I still personally think that Sword & Shield exist in the mega timeline. You could argue that the reason Eternatus started absorbing energy in the Galar region, resulting in the Darkest Day, was because it took a large amount of damage from the Ultimate Weapon that AZ fired during the Kalos War (if that war was against the Galar region), or the blast from the Ultimate Weapon woke it up. The reasons mega stones aren't in Galar are because the Ultimate Weapon was fired in Kalos and the fact that Galar already had to deal with the Dynamax phenomenon.

Perhaps Type: Null was included was due to its design. You have the two legendary wolves based off armor and Type: Null has an axe and helm, more armor based design used in medieval times. It kind of fits the theme in those games.

Gladion took one, SUMO USUM protagonist takes the second and the third was frozen so the fact that we receive one in SWSH is mighty suspicious for a different reason. We could’ve had the frozen one however... • One of the dex entries says type: null production started being held outside of alola which is also very sketchy Null does not hint to gen 4 remakes :3

I think Faba sent the third Type: Null from the Aether Foundation to Macro Cosmos. There's no way he was really redeemed after the Rainbow Rocket incident. He may have sent over a Beast Ball as well, but Macro Cosmos didn't have a use for it, so they sold it to the vendor in Stow-on-Side.

I think the type: null maybe hinting at some lore. Marco Cosmo could of been a sponsor/source of money for the Ather Foundation to make type: null, and once the type: nulls were made One could of been send to Rose/ Marco Cosmo has a gift for funding the making of type: null

Fun Fact: Beast balls were a ball used to catch ultra beasts, but arent the only ball that can, just more effective at the catching of Ultra Beasts, like other fun special balls like heavy, dive, net, ect.

Opal has an official artwork when she was young. I wonder why they even bother to do that for her. I'm thinking we might see her younger version in 3rd game of this gen. Like time travel before the war happened or prequel game.

To save time, questions: 1 - Why is the beast ball in the game when ultra beasts arent? 2 - Why is Type Null in the game and given as a gift? 3 - Where did Copperaja come from since its dex entry says it comes from another region but it's a new Pokemon to us? 4 - Timeline mystery because the old fairy gym leader having been a gym leader for 70 years but Pokeballs and battles and gyms supposedly only being 50ish years old (source?) 5 - Hating on a statue of Diglet/Dugtrio and confused about other statues Answers: 1 - This has been common over the course of Pokemon games, they usually include all/most of the balls unless they're actually unusable which these balls arent, they just have low catch rates - they were left in the game because they were a major fan favorite, pretty simple. 2 - Just one of the Pokemon not Thanos snapped and it shows the connection/existence of other regions in this game, also pretty common amongst Pokemon games. 3 - This is based off the history of England where animals from foreign countries were often brought over as gifts to the royal families in England. Nothing much else to it really, just keeping the lore connected to the real life region it reflects. 4 - Where did the info of Pokemon gyms and balls being only about 50 years old come from? People have had Pokemon and raised/battled/done whatever with them for hundreds of thousands of years as shown in the games/anime/movies/manga/etc. 5 - Every region has statues and relics like these, not all of them get explained. Even in the real world, we have all kinds of monuments, statues, artworks that dont really have explanations. Sometimes art is just art and there's nothing too deep behind it.

I actually may have a relevant theory for type null and the beast ball maybe the chairman worked closely with the Aether foundation until the events of sun and moon and both of those things are results of the work they did with them

Pokemon fans : WHY aren’t all of the pokemon in Sword and Shield? *also Pokemon Fans : WHY is Type:Null in game?*

In terms of the Turrfield Giant, that geoglyph is Eternatus but not in it’s full form as Eternatus’ Eternamax form may look like a five-headed hydra but also looks like a hand which may indicate that Eternatus wasn’t at his full power when we were facing it and it’s full form may look like the geoglyph we see in Turrfield as the Space Chicken

Two of these questions can easily be answered by reading Type:Null's Sword dex entry.

My question is just...How do rotom phones work? Can they be shiny? Are the shinies more expensive? Do you even have to buy rotom phones? Can they talk/provide feedback? Do they learn from your experiences? If something happens to the phone, will the rotom be affected? Can they do things on their own? Can they be used in battle? What are their stats? HOW DO THEY TURN INTO BIKES?!

The Beast Ball has to be in, I assume, due to the fact that someone could have caught a regular pokémon in one and it would need a model and such if that pokémon was migrated up. Say you catch a Bounsweet in a Beast Ball in US. Home is released and then you should be able to migrate up Bounsweet since it is in the Galardex. The alternatives would be 1) include the Beast Ball so pokémon like that could easily be transferred, 2) make it so any Beast Balls would be changed to Pokéballs, but then that causes issues with future games that do have Beast Balls, or 3) make pokémon in Beast Balls unable to be withdrawn into SwSh, which would probably piss a small group of people off who actively try to get regular pokémon in to Beast Balls. I mean, I have my Necrozma in a Beast Ball. I'd be ticked if I learned I could migrate Necrozma, since it is one of the "hidden" pokémon, but then then learn that I can't simply because it is in a rare ball. Copperajah being from another region is likely hinting at Britain's relationship with India, with Copperajah being a direct reference to the Indian Elephant. Whether that means there is an India based pokémon region is neither here nor there.

In the end of the pokemon USUM Post Game: The rainbow Rocket Arc, After you Beat Giovanni he says something like " In which World shall I wreak Havoc Next ?" This might mean team rainbow will come back in the next games.

4:47 i also find it really interesting that all the type combos of sinnoh's legendary trio are present in galar, even though we haven't had any other pokemon since with any of those type combinations(kingdra was before gen 4)

Discussion about your unanswered questions with my own theories what I think about it: Beast Ball: I may not have much in the lore-based way to see it more then that it just might be a nod to previous Gen and that the merchers that you get this ball from got it in a trade with someone that was in Alola. But otherwise I have only one thing to say: Pokémon Home. Like sure that is weird that a ball for Ultra Beast is in the game when the game isn't even having Ultra Beast. HOWEVER I know plenty of people that have capture some None-UltraBeast in Beast-balls and those people might have it in their Pokémon Bank where they was going to be able to get some Pokémon from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon Home and then it is good if those Pokémon that are in Sword and Shield and that has in previous game been capture in a beast-ball be able to be showned in a beast-ball. Type-Null: I can theorise from a Lore-Prespective that Type Null got to Galar from Aloa since they had 3 Type Null. One Gladion got, the second one your Pokémon Sun/Moon player get and then it is one left that we don't know happen to..Maybe this is the one. For another perspective I also think it might not be the most deserving one when it comes to Legendaries to get but what if it also is a reference that Diamond and Pearl remakes is coming. Or that UltraBeast is coming to the next game and that you can get your "UltraBeast-killer" this game and get it into the next with Pokémon Home. Copparajah's Region: Well I think that it will be a region based on India or at least that part of Asia that India is on. But it might be another type of region. Who knows. Remember that it might be this Pokémon they talked about when it comes to Indian Elephant about Raichu. Timeline Placement: I do think that this timeline is maybe on the same timeline as none-Mega yes.. And maybe way after Pokémon Black 2/White 2. I would guess and have 8 years after Black 2 and White 2. Pokémon Monuments: Well it might be much to do with the fact that britain themselves have some interesting monument and that they wanted to do some nice Pokémon Monument for it. Like in London alone there are so many statues and such and I can guess it's plenty of Monument that is very important in Britain.

Technically zigzagoon and corsola also debuted in a different region than their own, but we just didn’t know it until SwSh. The Pokédex says the Galrian versions are the oldest forms of both Pokemon. So normal corsola and zigzagoon can be considered as not being originally native to Johto and Hoenn.

Beast Ball: Possibly hinting towards a future update that adds a new endgame story line that bring forward the UB or introduce new ones or Gamefreak just knows the Beast Ball is popular as a trophy since the catch rates are so low

In terms of Opal I reckon that Galar had actually created the poke ball and gym challenge before other regions. This also links in with the UK kickstarting the industrial revolution.

Well the Type: Null you get actually connects to the story in Sun & Moon. When you find the data on Type: Null in the secret labs in the Ather foundation it tells you that there where three Type: Null created; one was taken by Gladion, one was destroyed, and the other mysteriously disappeared. Maybe this Type: Null is the one that mysteriously disappeared and if that's true then Chairmen Rose must have some connection to the Ather foundation...this could also be why there's a beast ball in sword and shield as well.

Imagine Copperajah from a region/next gen region based on North Korea.

Cufant and Copperajah were probably phanpy and donphan brought to Galar but through centuries of helping by carrying heavy items and breeding, they became stronger and larger and eventually gained the steel type

I think lookers or any past characters absent is the time line clue and with opal age I'd says this is definitely at least a hundred years in the future after gen 7

It's kinda funny that all of these questions were answered (except Copperajah) within a year of this video going up.

Type: Null likely made it in because it's one of the few legendaries that stand on it's own and whose gimmick is manageable. Most of the others come in groups or would be disruptive to simply have in the area.

A region based on India (and/or South Asia as a whole) would certainly be pretty neat. But I think Copperajah could also just be a reference to the British (Galarian) Raj. The Turffield Giant is probably a reference to the Cerne Abbas Giant and other such hill figures, which England (Galar) has a lot of.

About Type: Null... Read its Sword Dex entry; it mentions something along the lines of stolen plans leading to the creation of a specimen in Galar. About Copperajah leading into Gen IX, I'm sure the same thing was speculated about Yungoos and Gumshoos for Gen VIII, and yet. About the Diglett Statues, is it possible it was just a random artistic piece? Maybe the artist just wanted to put up some art of a physically-simplistic Pokémon, and picked Diglett because of its, as the description mentions, "simplistic design."

Copperrajah is not really a mystery, it is obviously from their equivalent of India who where a British colony so it is simply a nod to British multiculturism. The weird thing is making such a big deal of copperrajah but ignoring all the obviously Scandinavian Pokémon. On a completely different note, I predict that an eventual followup game will explain the two human heroes through time travel, since the heroes look like Bill and Ted.

About your point about Opal: c. 150 years before Generation I - The first Pokémon League competitions take place. Also: 1925: -Modern Poké Balls are developed from the research of Professor Westwood of Celadon University. We are not in the year 2000 anymore :D

The existence of Type:Null might not only be a hint to DP remakes - it basically confirms that SwSh takes place chronologically after Sun and Moon - whether that's the version we've played, with the existence of mega evolution, or whether it takes place after some alternate universe Sun and Moon where megas don't exist

Fun Fact about Type: Null:: In the storyline of Pokémon Sun and Moon there’s a data file you see in a laboratory that says that there were supposed to be three “experiments” which were known as type null it said that all three Nulls had escaped. After you beat the game in Sun and Moon when you talk to Gladion he gives you a type null and coincidentally in sword and shield the same thing happens when you talk to somebody in the battle tower which means that there is another Type Null out there possibly given to you in a future game or a new generation

Fun Fact: The Zigzagoon of Galar were actually the original Zigzagoon, and some went to Hoenn and changed form.

The only thing I can think of for timeline placement would be another reality regarding the Kalos region and the lore. The Darkest Day and Kalos's disaster both happened 300 years ago. They could be another split timeline or something? These two events also were connected to energy in a way.

Great video Hoops, I think that SwSh take place at the same time or at least a few months after Sun and Moon, because if you read the notes in the Aether laboratory they say that there were 3 Type: Null made. One was stolen by Gladian and one was giving to the player character. So, I think after Lusamine and Lillie went to Kanto the final Type: Null was giving to an employee who then moved to Galar. This could also work if you go by Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Lusamine could've decided that it wasn't worth it after what happened with Necrozma and again, give it to an employee who then moved to Galar, but that's just a theory

I'm not sure how many people read the league and rare and ultra-rare league cards, but they gave a lot of backstories and filled in some holes between characters and raised questions at the same time.

The Beast Balls were brought in because of Pokemon Home. Even though we can't bring in pokemon that are not found in Galar save for a few unannounced Pokemon, they had to put the Beast Ball in incase you caught one of the pokemon that can be moved to Sword/Shield via Pokemon Home.

Sword and Shield definitely take place after SM/USUM. In the Crown Tundra, the Scientist is revealed to have worked at a lab in Alola (the Dimensional Research Lab). As well as this, Type:Null, Cosmog, the Light Trio and Ultra Beasts all make an appearance and in some instances are 'known' e.g. Peonia referencing how Solgaleo/Lunala was the first Pokemon discovered at the Max Lair and the Scientist gifting you a Poipole.

They could be refernecing the phanpy/donphan line with copperajah's dex entry seeing how if it was long enough ago the pokemon couldve been originally just a regional variant but was there long enough that it became its own pokemon line

Type: Null being in Galar has an answer. It's in the Dex. Data on it and how to make/clone one was stolen from Aether, likely by Rose's company to use against Eterneus. However, the dialogue of the member that gives you Type: Null implies that the data is incomplete or they aren't a member that's high enough to know the disks are only usable on Type: Full/Sivally, which was known by Aether as Gladion is fully aware of this when he snagged his and gave you the only other surviving Type: Null of Alola(Files in the Aether HQ implies three were made, with only two surviving). So unlike the Beast Ball being in Galar, Type: Null does have an answer.

Hi, Hoops. Awesome video, dude. Since there are Gen 7 pokemon in the games I'd say that Sword & Shield must at least take place after Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. My guess is 6 or 7 years after Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, but in the none Mega timeline, since we know that all main Gen 7 games Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were clearly in the Mega timeline. And I agree with you that chairman Rose's brown skin and use of a royal looking elephant pokemon seems like a hint at what's to come in the future for pokemon.

My theory is that Dugtrio helped pave Stow-and-side, as they are present around it. The toxtricity as well I assume is a statue of the two performing toxtricity, maybe they’re like musical celebrities.

The Dugtio in the mountain is a call back from Pokemon Snap where you can get a picture of a Dugtrio in the mountain.
