I think the blue aura for Dynamax Calyrex just is GF's way of saying this is him at full power. Let's not forget the lore behind him wasn't handled the best in the story, he claims he gets his power from the faith in the people, but this is contradicted when he claims he's at full power when u fight him finally. So this blue aura, if the statue's text is right, is him at full power based on his own words
of course there is cut story, how else will they sell us Expansion pass 2 that explains why there are extinct pokemon roaming around and fills in the left half of the town map they ain't used yet for another 30 bucks, to make it a 120 dolalr game with a 60 dollar base price? Wait, they won't even explain that. They will jsut use it to cram in more of the other cut pokemon they made tr, tm, and new egg move lists for but didn't put in the game YET.

I think the reason why Calyrex glows blue instead of red when dynamaxed is because unlike other Pokémon Calyrex is using its own power instead of absorbing the power of Eternatus. I even states in the game that when Calyrex uses its power it glows blue.
I was thinking that! Every Pokemon glows red when Dynamaxed because it's from Eternatus's power, whereas Calyrex is being described as giving off blue light in the pedestal story even though it may have not been Dynamaxed... So perhaps Calyrex was capable of Dynamax on its own, or something
@@justinjyeung Its also possible that Calyrex is the opposite pokemon to Eternatus, and not Zacian or Zamazenta. Meaning that maybe Calyrex and Eternatus was linked in someway and maybe Calyrex can give its own version of Dynamaxing, or maybe even a more stable version. While Eternatus's makes pokemon lose Control, Calyrex may harmonize the energy making it easier for the pokemon to control the Dynamax form. I don't know, its just my guess. It would be interesting though, and could serve as a way to introduce Dynamaxing to other regions in the future, by having Calyrex spread its power across other regions.
I was thinking something similar. Calyrex is the lord of the land and the dates seems to refer to seasons. So it might be a unique interaction of Calyrex's domain interacting with Eternatus's power which has merged with the land.
@@andresmarrero8666 I kinda think Calyrex was the King mentioned in the Darkest Day event in Galar... My theory is after battling Eternatus Calyrex was more injured than "he" thought and went to recuperate and went to the Crown Tundra were he collapsed and was helped by the people of Freezington then Calyrex helped them by taming the Glastrier or Spectrier...
One thing about the huge dead tree is that it is mentioned in one of the stone records to have been a sapling when that built Calyrex' dwelling place around it. Thus it's huge size in the present serves the function of showing how much time has passed, and it being dead could signify how Calyrex has lost most of its powers. As for the Dyna Tree, it's noted that the Galarian birds gather at it, and Moltres is shown eating from it, the implication being it has something to do with why the Galarian forms developed.
If that's the case why would Galarian Zapdos go from being a flying bird who can easily reach the fruits of the tree to being stuck on the ground. I know evolution makes mistakes sometimes but that's a bit drastic of an oversight.
@@Whispernyan According to the official site Galarian Zapdos can still fly, it just prefers not to and is better at running. It's more of a roadrunner than a ratite. Besides, even if it couldn't fly it can jump so high and run right up vertical cliffs so getting to the fruit on a giant tree would be no issue.
A question that I have is if Calyrex has any relation to Zacian and Zamazenta like we’re they Calyrex’s best warriors, or did he send them to battle Zamazenta, or were they his Sword and Shield, or do they not even have a connection to each other at all. Zacian and Zamazenta are said to be the champions of Galar, so I would think they have some connection to him?
Calyrex's dynamax color is most likely related to blue blood which was what it was said that kings in Europe had. It makes a bit of sense because it is the high king pokemon. But this is just observation.
Also, Calyrex is practically the counterpart to Eternatus, as Calyrex lore is basically its opposite. Kindhearted, earthly and natural, while Eternatus is agressive, alien and its power is used artificially. Its even said that Calyrex saved some pokémon from a meteor, probably Eternatus. With all of this in mind, I think Calyrex creates its own Dynamax with its nature powers, and that's why its blue.
Calyrex cannot have its own dynamax power because it has no connection with Eternatus. Eternatus is an alien, so Dynamax power does not originate from the earth. Calyrexes dynamax is also activated with a wishing star, which still comes from Eternatus. However, if Calyrex has managed to control the dynamax power that originates from Eternatus, that might be an explanation
I really wish GF would stop scrapping their ideas they always make an interesting topics only to drop them completely and move half of it to the next game and ruin it. I’m really enjoying the crown tundra and wanna learn more especially about Calyrex he’s my favorite legendary in this expansion.
Time Constraints are the things they have to look out for since it, might be that they have plenty of ideas from what looks to be a placeholder prototype but weren't able to add everything they wanted since they are on a deadline... Making new experimental features is hard since not all ideas get accepted right away or work badly with other present features... So many of them were probably cut to save time and make the game on time...

I have to wonder if the Dyna Tree has something to do with the reason the birds are Galarian in the first place. We see them (well, Moltres, at least) eating the giant fruit, and the Dynamax Greedent is there too... perhaps the fruit has transformative properties? It would affect different Pokémon differently it seems, but it would be interesting
I agree and I think that's why the birds have this form because I feel like they got very greedy of the tree and wants it's fruits. I feel like that's why their form change and it makes sense since the birds were fighting for the tree for themselves. I don't know 100% this is my guess on why their forms change.
The blue aura is a reference to how in the old times peasants believed that those of royalty are those with blue blood. We can also take this to be that Calyrex refused to allow the darkness of Eternatus to corrupt it's royal line.
The tree's significance was likely exaggerated by fans, tbh. They never seemed like anything more than backdrops for legendary encounters to me, and sure enough that's what they ended up being. My main thought regarding this is that both trees were Dyna Trees in the past, but as Calyrex's power waned and the cold crept back to the area, the one on the mountain died while the other has only survived due to being farther away from the cold. Maybe some wishing stars fell there which made the trees massive, I dunno.
Fun fact: The Dyna tree is a literal dynamax version of the berry trees you can shake for berries and apricorns, it is the same model but tweaked a bit.

Isle of armor sucked. Plane and simple it was just so lazily made. Crown tundra is hella fun and if it fixes the pomemon follow animation I would be extremely happy but it didn't and the reason why its fun is because its a legendary scavenger hunt which devalues legendaries and that is also lazy design

@Bongo Kongo doubt it because those fossil pokemon never went extinct in the first place. They can still be found in rare hidden locations of the pokemon world and some modern pokemon are most likely descendants.
There is a lot going on there, the discussions are still in progress on the exact order of events but things we know so far : Eternatus crashed from a meteor and started living in Glar approx 20 thousand years ago Calyrex while still in full power forsaw a meteor (hard to say if this one or one that's completely unrelated) and teleported away the entire forest with the pokemon living there somewhere Nebby was found and fossil pokemon started appearing left and right
@@RancorSnp speaking of Nebby. Why would a Cosmog be in Galar? Alola is their rearing grounds and they need to be in Alola for the ceremony in order to awaken into Solgaleo and Lunaala.
Also is it just me, or is nobody talking about why Ghetsis's eyepiece and Lysandre's shades are just randomly given to you by Peonia in game with no lore or context?
I think that Game Freak got too ambitious when making the Crown tundra and they basically had to scrap most of the story either due to incompetence or Covid-19.
About Victini, my assumption is that it was originally planned to be obtainable but was scrapped later on and the code was just left in the game, similarly to Mega Latias and Mega Latios in Pokemon X and Y.

According to Bulbapedia, Calyrex produces its own Dynamax energy instead of using energy from Eternatus. Hence why it has a blue aura over the standard red aura
Also I think the two trees are inspired by “Yggdrasil” the life tree from Norse mythology. In images I’ve seen the “Yggdrasil” is made up of two parts the lower branches and trunk, and the higher branches. In the lower part the branches are barren and holdup Asgard just like the sacred sapling and the shrine build around it. And when it comes to the upper part the tree is lush and supplies life to all who live underneath it, just like the dyna tree which supplies the Pokémon that lived under it fresh fruit.
I don't think so mainly because Yggdrasil is way overused these days and Gamefreak usually tries for the more interesting options. If anything those two probably refer to seasons though that is a little too simplistic.
@@andresmarrero8666 I’ll have to disagree gamefreak is all about using those Norse myth references in Pokémon just look at X and Y all the legendaries are inspired by the eagle, deer, and Midgard Serpent that live around Yggdrasil. Plus, all the Viking inspired stuff in Sword and Shield, and that’s only the noticeable stuff.
@@danteswildlife4411 Norse references in one generation but never by their own as the Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde also have heavy hindu influences mixed in with them also being partly based off of Brahman, Shiva, and Vishnu respectively, and they never do it so obvious. One can look at the other legendarys and even the fossil pokemon with how it took them a decade before they started adding the Dinosaurs. They do not like to go with the overuse but instead always go for the interesting and relatively unknown and/or place their own spin on it in rather interesting ways that has other influences incorporated. Yggdrasil is not one they would use because everyone already uses it to the point of being completely uninspired. Gamefreak is anything but uninspired.
Probably they wanted to be lore instead of a story. But I rather have it unanswered because it makes the Crown Tundra more interesting. The storyline itself was ok.
@@sirmel11 that’s why I recommend this order of side quest. 1 regis 2 Galar birds 3 Calyrex In my opinion it saves the best for last. But it doesn’t make a difference though I’m just upset that this is officially the last dlc and they didn’t go way beyond. At least one more dlc will do cause the expansion pass is 30 dollars which will make 10 each.
I think Calyrex is the antithesis to Eternatus. Eternatus' energy is an unnatural phenomenon whereas Calyrex energy is a natural ability. SwSh had heavy environmental themes near the end and I think Calyrex is an extension of that theme.
Peony has said that he sows all Peonia's clothes and does everything for her. Perhaps this is a hint that her mother is dead or divorced and he is a single father.
You know I really thought Megas would have came back there was a bunch of evidence that supported it but I guess we will have to wait next time I really thought they would’ve given us the Heonn starters like they did in the isle of armor but no they are just there in the max raids Also why bring audino back if you aren’t even going to bring back Megas? If I remember correctly in the German version Calyrex says that the people of the Crown Tundra planted the tree and Calyrex made it grow. That's the reason it is sacred^^ A thing that you missed is the man at the train station that says it got way colder in the short amount of time he wasn't living there... What happened?
Other characters also mention it getting colder each year, the implication being its because Calyrex has been getting weaker as it was Calyrex that enabled the tundra to grow so much food to begin with.
I imagine his steed potentially being an ice type also explains why it's been getting colder: their power isn't being reigned in, so it's affecting the environment
Feels like they were pressured to rush the project and had to wrap things up to send out. I would have wanted this dlc to be pushed back 2 months in order to have the story be better. Felt like a lot of the dlc was rushed and we were given all these legendary and mythicals as an apology
Here’s what I pieced together regarding Calirex and the blue Dynamax. Calirex is an ancient being, in ancient times Dynamax was a much more rare phenomenon which is why it’s kinda looked at like a god since it can Dynamax and also has the power to bring good harvest. In the SwSh main story we learned that The Darkest Day caused by Eternadus spread Dynamax energy throughout the Galar region(that’s why all Pokémon except for Zacian and Zamazenta can Dynamax). Blue Dynamax is theorized to be the purest form of Dynamax and red is an impure form caused by the effects of Eternadus.
Another hint towards this is that Zacian and Zamazenta are the only other ancient Pokémon in Galar and they are unable to Dynamax, further proving the theory.
i dont do this normally but i wanna give my own ideas just quick: 1. some others said how it could be referencing blue blood, and someone else said it was using its own power. my first through was that it could be a simple reference to the power it had used, and how it's now giving its gratitude to you for restoring its power by doing so in battle. 2. many options. peony had a divorce for any sort of reason be it good or bad, maybe his wife passed away somehow and he's using the tundra as an escape. Maybe she's just not as important to the story and was removed. 3. the trees are weird, i thought there would be more to them too. my guess is that the two trees just have some backstory thats later uncovered in another story (like more trees in other places that are explained, and then we link back to CT). I feel like the tree up the mountain used to look the same but maybe died because of the cold (more on that in 4) and- the legendary birds are definitely from another dimension, maybe moltres uses the tree because it's a very big, obvious good source of food 4. i havent actually read all the pedestals- but i wanna guess maybe the dates refer to when the settlements were built, or when the pedestals were made. I felt like theres meant to be more on the pedestal that just went away with time, but thats my best guess. With the tree i like to think maybe it explains a bit of Calyrex's origin, its a fantasy world idk maybe they were born from the tree?? and the combination of Calyrex losing power and the Tundra getting colder it just died? 5. really not sure on the victini this is all really quick i know and im sorry if ive made any mistakes, im just going off quick thoughts and maybe i could develop them later lol.
There’s speculation that suggests Calyrex uses its own power to Dmax, instead of relying on Enternatus’ energy. Which is why it’s aura is blue instead of red.
Do you know as a fan of pokemon ever since the beginning the thing i want the most out of any thing in the franchise? i want to know what The Original Dragon was really like it feels like one of the biggest mysteries in pokemon. even other great mysteries in pokemon there is atleast an implied answer like you might think Zinnia's disappearance and AZ's story are still mysteries but (although not a direct answer)there is alway an indirect answer or an implied answer but with The Original Dragon its still left a mystery with no indirect or implied answer. and like Lockstin&Gnoggin i'm a big fanatic for the lore of pokemon and i just really want that puzzle piece to be filled in. p.s. why are there so many fossil mons alive? what's up with those legendary horses? why is there a place where legendaries just spawn? why's there so many legends in just one place? are the kantonian birds canceled? why the ultra wormhole? how did that lady find a cosmog? is that beldum just living alone in that house?
One question I had while playing was, why are there 2 horses? I mean, it's one thing that cal forgets which one was his, and then takes your word for which ever one you pick... I'm wondering if it is like kubfu, and it has a preevolution. Then it evolves from eating the different carrots. Afterwards, it only eats that species of carrot. So cal had the normal version, and the 2 in the game were new to him.

The main thing that intrigued me was the logo on Peonies hat and bag. When I first saw it I thought it was going to be a new Pokemon because it kind of looks like one to me. I can't work out what it actually is meant to be
Possible theory - in the Northern hemisphere in Pagan religions, November 1st is the new year. In the Southern hemisphere, it's May 1st, which lines up with the story timeline. There are Pagan gods of bountiful harvests and nature who, in this modern era, are a lot more forgotten about and, for those gods who gain power from faith, means they become a lot weaker and more of a myth or folktale to most. Just an interesting possible connection to Calyrex, there
I’d say why Calyrex’s Dynamax color is blue is because of the Reins of Unity since it’s blue. Also, in the adventure log that Peony gives you, it says that when the sun comes out, that’s where the birds come out and roost. I also want to know, WHY CAN WE ONLY CATCH ONE REGI?! And what happens to the other steed if you don’t catch it? And does Calyrex have a final form like Necrozma and Eternatus, or does he have to fuse with both horses similar to the Unova Dragons. And could we see more DLC?
I also want to know what happened to Lugia? Why doesn’t he have a Galarian Form? He’s the master of the trio after all. Unless what if Calyrex is like Lugia but was more concerned about the horses? And what if there is a lost steed?
My question was regarding Calyrex’s crown head. The DLC icon made it appear the his crown would possibly gain extra detail when it achieved a new form, but it didn’t... it just got a horse and a cape. The crown looked unchanged at all.
The fact that Victini apparently has a static encounter that hasn't been found is crazy. It seems like Pokemon games have all of their information dumped within the first day or two of them being out.
I'm getting annoyed at the lack of story in these updates. I wait for these for months and finish it in like 3 days....and that was me taking my time...
at the ned of the isle of armor is seemed like Urshifu's evolution was the herold of something coming, but in crown tundra, there was nothing. even Mustard was acting like something big was coming that would need to be fought and nothing. then theres Calyrex and the radiant flower. the single pedal he made matched the color of his crown which makes me think he was to have a blossomed form, and but they scrapped that for riding the horses. Calyrex himself needs his power restored so that the people will believe in him, and they can have good harvests. so much for that once he is restored he joins you and pretty much abandons the people who didnt believe in him anyways. they could have really given Calyrex and Okami style story but missed the chance. the birds just fell flat. the Dyna tree i had so much hope for having a great story.
The biggest mistery is, why there is no level scaling. Seriously how did GF think of that. I get that the crown tundra is a really harsh enviroment and all but comon, I just want to catch some fossil pokemon and do the gym challenge with them.
Im surprised nobody’s questioning the whole thing behind Calyrex and his steed. Like, obviously it made more sense that the steed was Glastrier (cause Crown “TUNDRA”), and yet it had a potential Ghost Type variant. Why does the ghost type variant exist?
I gust had a cool idea for the trees. The pink one and the Ivey dead one are both trees related to dinamax and people of old used the now dated tree to giaganta max there pokemon. But they weren’t able to keep it alive with all the exsesive use and ended up killing it. In there fear of loosing the other tree and throwing the word out of balance they least the other tree to just do its thing. But with one tree gone it was still out of balance and caused strange anomalies and wether. This strang energy could also be the reason that the new rages were build. Having the new energy could have lead to much more divers materials to make Regis out of. Calorex who was concted to the tree and after the legend with the town folk let them use it was serverly damaged in trust with humans and in soul needing stead’s to help him reclaim his former glory and power. After the fall of the first tree the galerian legendary birds had to fight over one food sources leading to a need for more powerful and diverse moves. With that in mind it would make sense that the blue above calorexes head in his gigant max form is because he may not have a very stable connection with the main power sources that makes Pokémon have red. With this weekend connection that mite have lead to this blue colore we see now. Heck back in the day it stands to reason that calorex could have been able to stay in a giganta max form much longer then any other Pokémon due to its connection with the tree. Of course there are all gust in the moment kind of theory’s. None of there’s are real and are gust made for fun.
If you catch any of the birds before you get to the tree you will not see the cutscene. If you hold off on catching the birds until after you make it to the tree you will see the cutscene battle as you walk up to it
A lot of Calyrex's powers are related to the color blue, including his mind control, crop growing, fusing, and even dynamaxing. I guess blue is a royal color!
A lot of Unova pokemon have more story with Galar than any other region and I believe that maybe since Galar is the UK and Unova is the USA that maybe instead of gen 4 getting a remake it might be gen 5 getting a remake. This is just my opinion and I could be wrong.
I'm not sure if this was solved already but if you explore around where the giant tree is, you'll find a grave that says "let them hear my voice" though I'm not sure what that could mean. Well I'm an idiot.....didn't know it was actually the spirit tomb questline.
My theory on the dyna tree with what I have: I think that calyrex and the dyna tree are in some way connected like for example lets say somehow calyrex dynamaxed and with all that dyna max energy calyrex was able to grow a giant tree a far greater version of his usual ability to grow crops.

It's one thing for calyrex to have amnesia, but the horse thing bugs me. I'd get it if the horses were version exclusive... then its 2 universes. But the fact you choose the horse means there were 2, or the 2 separated from 1. My theory is the statue pony is a pre evo, and it has 2 split evos. Calyrex doesnt remember either horse, because they evolve upon death... 5. Victini is a good question.
Does anyone else think it's strange to think that according to pokémon's history that this is the last adventure in Galar and that there is only one more year of gen 8?
My theory at least for the bird trios tree would be its a special tree grown with a combination of calyrxs (idk how to spell it😅) and maybe dynamax energy. Maybe the 2 cause a physical change to the pokemon who eat it. Idk if just reminded me of the pink berries from the pink pokemon island episode of the anime.

I dont know if it’s just me but the story and the expansion pass felt very lackluster. From dynamax adventures, to the legendary birds, and then calyrex and the horses. It all just seems so random and something the Pokemon company just threw together so that they can sell some DLC. Even the fact that in the original game there’s only 400 pokemon as opposed to an entire national dex or the fact that previous legendary pokemon are part of DLC. I do hope the next game has better substance storywise
This maybe a silly question but did Calyrex have a co ruler? Did he have a female counterpart who was his Queen? Who is the Queen Pokemon as he is the King Pokemon?
