I H POWER RULES Another great video Matt and right on time I painted a 1974 1066 color scheme to resemble the 5 millionth tractor 3 years ago The only difference was the white paint was done in silver People went crazy for it and most did not know this tractor ever existed Got a lot of looks and questions Sold it to a very deserving person and took the money from that and bought another 2 plus 2 to add to the collection Thanks for bringing this to the forfront today This was history in the making God bless you and your family as well as your viewers
Thanks for sharing the video Matt. I'd like to see the tractor one of these days. IH was a leader. I wish I could have been to the National Farm Machinery Show when they were still in business I have been told they really had a great display for the people to see. They did this in 1974 and I think I heard that John Deere finally made 5 million tractors in the late 80's but I wouldn't swear to that.
What surprises me is now the tractor has 86 series wheels which it did not have originally. Why were they changed? Or is that really the tractor? We have a 1974 1066 as well, but the serial number is 4000 higher (39913 I believe) and it is equipped without a 3 point. The 1066 is actually one of International's best. I actually prefer the 66 to the 86, although the 86s are good too.
They were switched out later for some reason at the time the 86 series came out . I remember someone telling the reason but I will have to go back and look at the reason .
Red 1066 I feel was better. I worked for a few farmers from 78 to 87 and ran red, green ( Deere stiger and Oliver) yellow, grey, silver, I prefer red then ollie's.
Wondering how many hours are on it? Was it field worked? What kind of shape was it in when the museum got it? What was done to it to get it ready for display? Lots of missing history here.
