It was highly experimental for its time, they were still troubleshooting and fine tuning it when this even took place, by the next year though it was absolutely unbeatable by anything on the circuit at that time.
No surprise really. Bigfoot #1 was using a 640ci tri carb Ford V8 at that time while Bigfoot #7 was using a still powerful but more conservative 540ci tri carb Ford V8. Also, Bigfoot #1 doesn't use planetary gears which helps it put power to the ground but makes it more prone to axle failure in high stress situations.
Loving the vintage footage !!!! The brick nose Bigfoots were the best looking in my opinion. Sadly, they killed a 74 - 76 Gran Torino (4th car in 2nd set of cars). Hey !!!!!!! I need those parts for mine !!!! Granted I was just shy of my 9th birthday when this happened. 🤣
@@capri8225 Not to surprising, I mean #7 was a fast truck for sure, but #1 was rocking the 640ci V8 at that time, no truck in the fleet except for maybe the Bigfoot Ranger could compete with it in a straight line drag race.
Can t give this series enough "LIKES !!!!" Hard to figure which truck is which. Think I was able to pick out #2 n #3, maybe #4. Looked like #8 still needed a bit more test n tuning. Curious #5 is nowhere to be seen, probably too difficult to maneuver with the dual 10 ft set up. Thanks for posting these great clips.
The running order in this video is #6, #3, #4, #2, #6 (again),#7(×2) & #8 (of course). The side by side drags was #1 vs #7. The ideal race would be #1 vs #8.
