He and Coach Pop shares the same sentiments. It just happens Coach Kerr have the best pure shooter in Steph Curry, so why not make the most at his disposal with no signs of slowing down (barring injuries)?
Wow I used to think Isiah's take @ 3:11 about Magic being a revolutionary Center in today's game was crazy. But after seeing Joker win back to back Mvps he may be right.
C. Webb gave the best answer period... you can be productive and successful in life without being a baller, rapper etc. Nothing wrong with being teacher, Carpenter, manager at a bank, nurse, salesman etc.... Great answer C. Webb
Jordan was married to Juanita at the time and his teammate was a Jordan fan, so he'd always give Smitty crap cause he had to guard the best player ever and pretty much was gonna get smoked.
It's funny because they don't lead the league in attempts or percentage, but because they have the best shooter of all time, people think all they do is shoot threes. They don't. All they do is play outside-in, instead of inside-out, like most teams did historically. If you take away the three, they are more than happy to pass the ball (they led the league in assists), or drive.
Sorry man, but heck no. His still-unapologetic walkout is a personal reminder why to take the high road regardless of situation. It cost and still haunts him, including not being part of original Dream Team. Look at 2012-13 Spurs. They were graceful in heartbreaking defeat. A year later, they redeemed themselves big time, win with class, and dismantled the Heat LeBron went back to his senses and returned to Cleveland.
@@AJkunVM McHale was instoppable, just ask Akeem about his bouts with the Celtics in the 80s playoffs. His mechanics were flawless. Plus he was a veritable dumptruck down low. He knew his range which is an underrated quality.
I’m really late with this response ~ Lol. But I remember how much my pops “Hated” McHale and the Celtics. Especially McHale. He always taught me to never be a fan of any man/player /entertainer etc. ~ rather appreciate their talent. I was young and just started understanding basketball after years of my dad taking me to Bullets games, Maryland Terrapin games, some Philly games, especially Baltimore Dunbar high school famed basketball team games. I saw a lot of really good players. My very first game I watched George Gervin and the Spurs … torch my dads beloved Bullets(now Wizards) But as a result of just watching the games, and appreciating the beauty of the game I was a fan of all the great players. Because of how they played the game~ respective of their position. I would follow multiple teams as a kid, basically so I could see the players I enjoyed watching and trying to replicate their moves. Consequently, I loved to watch Bird play, then later McHale. And he was a beast in the Post! But my dad would go off cursing and fussing whenever McHale as going off offensively “ Why can’t y’all stop him! Y’all way more athletic 😂” I said to him pops his fundamentals are great. I practice and practice and I still can’t get his footwork down. What happened next will make a king story longer. But he just couldn’t believe that his only son would like the Celtics. Man oh man. He was a Big Wilt Chamberlain guy… they were peers. I must’ve heard him tell the story of how he played against him in some Globetrotter games exhibition game. After a while I tuned him out. But he hated the Celtics because they always beat Wilt. He couldn’t just digest it that I would like the Celtics. To this day my two main rooting interests are the Celtics and the Spurs. I still follow the NBA closely. Watching this also reminds me of my own hoop story~ I have two of them actually… but I matched up against Rick Fox in a college camp when I was 15-16. Same year Len Bias passed away. My pops did root for the Celtics for a very brief period, when Reggie Lewis from his famed high school alma mater played with them. McHale was great, he as very efficient. He was also a much better defender and shot blocker than he is remembered for.
@@ericsnyder5427Hakeem guarded parish and mchale was guarded by Sampson. And as great as mchale was in the low post he was not better than Hakeem. If you are going by the 86 finals, Hakeem was in his second year in the nba and hadn't developed his dream shake yet. Hakeem was quicker, had more moves, and was more athletic than mchale. Mchale is second best low post player and there is no shame in being second to Hakeem
He tries to act like lebron is his goat but after lebron declared himself the goat I think he chilled out on that. I think deep down he knows MJ I'd the goat.
J N Nash played in a very fast offense so he got a lot of possessions. It inflated his numbers. He was also nonexistent defensively. He was never gonna be unanimous while Shaq and Kobe were in the league. I love Nash, but Shaq has a right to be mad
@@nolantudor9811 nah maybe one but not both give Nash some credit his name gets dragged like a corpse to much. plus shaq missed like 9 games no mvp for that idk about kobe but he was all hero ball those years
Damn that statement CWebb said was mind blowing. He took care of some my Grandmother's medical bills during , his time with the King's. This bruh is a true angel 😇. Thanks big homie 👍👍👍
@@DP-kn4tb which is what I said. MJ didn't like Zeke and used his power to prevent Zeke from gaining more accomplishments on the job. That's an example of hate when you mess with a man's livelihood, but Zeke never publicly verbally attacked Jordan or referenced not liking Jordan.
@@geronimopratt7976 That’s not entirely true. Yes MJ didn’t want him on the team, but he wasn’t the only one. Magic said so to IT’s face, Scottie said he didn’t want him on the team and we know how Malone felt. I blame people who completely ignore that MJ called that man the 2nd greatest PG of all time and focus on the fact he doesn’t like the guy.
Olajuwan is the best Center I've seen in my life in his prime. I started watching basketball in 1981. I caught Kareems second act, so I missed his prime. Olajuwan was just a beast. He destroyed everyone, including Shaq. Shaq literally couldn't handle him. He was so, so good. He gets overshadowed because of Jordan, and that time, but Hakeem was probably the 2nd best player outside of Jordan in that era.
+Thomas Le LOL, reggie was a better defender than ray and creates his shots better and he's way longer than ray. Ray was a spot up shooter. Yes he can jump, but it didn't last, he was meant to be a shooter, a spot up 3pt shooter. I would admit they're not that far off each other tho, BUT I disagree with you saying ray was the better all around player.
Oh no.. Ray was traded all the time.. But everytime he was the Alpha but not until boston.. If you watch his game he is more an all rounder than reggie.. He just played on small markets most of his career..
Oh I know how he played in milwakee. He was a franchise player during that time. But he wasn't able to carry that all through out is career. Reggie did that. The only thing that's debatable is who's the better shooter, coz ray is a terrific shooter. But the better player overall? Reggie was the man the team look up to. He made the indiana pacers a contender in the east for years. Ray did it only once in milwakee, reached semi finals and got stomped by the sixers.
I get why he doesn't get enough. Sometimes I question how good he really was because of Kobe, leBron, KG, Dirk. These guys just made things look interesting and cool. For me, Dwayne was a guard version of Timmy. fundamentally sound, gives you consistent great numbers, and even though he was called flash, he wasn't flashy as a PG. He wasn't AI, or Magic, or Kobe, but he was solid to a point where you forget what he actually did. A smaller Tim Duncan, that's how I see it.
@@Konjo316 Wilt did on a few occasions, though. Wilt was getting up in age by the time Kareem had just begun to dominate. If Shaq and Kareem played a 1v1, I think it would be very close - Shaq could absolutely dominate Kareem with his speed, drop step, and quick release jump hook, but Kareem could also shoot further out than what Shaq was capable of guarding with his turnaround jumper and floaters while also raining down his skyhook.
I don't get why they did a next 10. They did 50 greatest for the 50 years of the league, it's now been 20 years since then, so they should do a next 20. No wonder they found next 10 so hard.
Mars Haven't seen that? Is it online somewhere. My point wasn't so much that they should have done 20, just that it had been over 10 years since they made the 50. So they should have done more than 10
I saw D Wade play in Utah a few years ago with the Bulls. Even this late in his career he was the baddest man on the court. I'm glad I got to see him play at least once.
I love this show and inside the nba so much. Area 21 too. Just retired legends talking ball like any other day. All the stories are so great and some are hilarious gems. I could watch Chuck, Shaq, Isaiah, Reggie, Kevin Mchale, Dominique Wilkins, Grant Hill, all of em. could watch em talk ball all day.
I could listen to Isiah Thomas talk for hours man. Clearly the other guys around him agree because as soon as he makes a noise, every one shuts up instantly just to listen to what he has to say. Respect
@@thegolden807 he’s right that Nash didn’t deserve those mvps but Shaq wasn’t even the best player on his own team those years. He’s a little delusional about the whole thing
@@MisterDoctorEsquire In a extremely high tempo offense(7 sec or less)with Amare, Marion and joe Johnson. He was a great player. However he did not deserve it over iverson, Kobe, Garnett
@Showed Him My Dick Called Him A Fag you're misunderstanding. What Chuck meant was "bigotry". The question was about racism, but he's saying black AND white, the true oppression is against the poor. Of every color.
MJ and isiah had some of the best battles in the playoffs back then, but listening to isiah talking about MJ's clutch shot in utah you can see that he has respect for the goat
John Paul Del Rosario He doesn’t respect MJ at all. He has encountered tons of criticism for not recognizing MJ greatness. He still hates MJ for being left out of the Dream Team when MJ refused to play if Thomas were to play on that team. Thomas was Amazing as a player but was not gracious in defeat
Isiah can look back fondly because he will forever have a winning record against jordan in the regular season and playoffs. That’s why jordan will be bitter for the rest of his life, because he’ll always have a losing record against Zeke.
@@Howdidhenotseeme It's not just about the handshake. Zeke was the ringleader of a team that hurts other players on almost a nightly basis. Sometimes with bad intentions. Zeke moved on because he was the offender. Some players didn't though. There's a difference between playing tough and playing dirty.
Linh Nguyen But the Lakers were the premier team of that era. The Kings were considered an upper echelon contender in that ultra competitive western conference
@@jasonsandhu3760 Yes, and not as much as C-Webb with his Kings though, he was laying the smackdown on all those PFs to then be the top of the West and drop the business on those dinasty Lakers too to then get robbed by refs and get crippling injuries when bouncing back. The user bringing these facts to the NBA clueless probable 2015 Curry fan already introduced this.
6:33 Isiah 🤣🤣 Not only can this dude joke around, he knows how to narrate them. All these guys are great, classy dudes, honest, no egos just confident ball players. I can't imagine guys like Westbrook, Harden, Kyrie doing something like this with the kind of respect these guys showed each other.
People just don't realize how good pip is. 22pts 8rebs 7assts the year Jordan retired. All star game mvp. His team won 55 games. He's still on that list.
Pip also had help. Toni Kukoc and Ron Harper was a beast(look up his stats before the Bulls got him). The rest was still pretty much the same. Also, the team concept and mentality didn't change once Jordan left. It was still applied. That is called leadership and it transferred from one team captain to the next. The lesson stayed. People who don't understand the concept(s) automatically jump to the record. People like to throw that out without taking a critical look at these important points.
kcire10 10 Ron Harper was as close to Jordan I've seen.He had it all offensively....and on D too....he got alot of steals.Injuries made him change his game and he was still a valuable player on those 90's Bulls teams
Dwayne wade is top 50 unanimous chris Webber sounds dumb saying Dwayne wade won because of Shaq dude Shaq was past his prime Dwayne wade literally Carried the heat on his back and averaged like 35 in the finals number 3 all-time final average
Well the defense focused on Shaq, double and triple team. Watch the series again and see how wide open Wade is after a 1 on 1 coverage from Terry or Howard it also helps that they gave him over 10 ftws per game.
Aidan TheReal Agreed. Also, people like to forget that he was pulling his own weight and still played at a high level when he played with LeBron. Not only is he a top 50 player, he's a top 25-30 player. I couldn't stand when Shaq said "over Penny?!". Penny was good for 4-5 seasons. Wade has been good for 13.
Thank you! It's even arguable that Kobe should of been finals MVP during the last year of the 3 peat. Shaq was an amazing player but he never lived up to his potential cause he never focused on basketball. That being said, a guy who is top 10 greatest player ever and he didn't really try is fucking amazing haha.
Really love the way Zeke described MJs move agianst the Jazz. Greatest moment in Basketball Historyit was the perfect end for MJs carrer. Nevermind the Wizards

35:03 One of the best comments i've heard on Open Court. I, personally, love the cleaning and kitchen ladies at my work. They are so sweet :) Sometimes i caught them singing to themselves and try to sneak my way just to hear a little more. There are people so so sweet and with their beautiful honour at a simple job. Just like Great Reverend Martin Luther King said: "Sweep streets like Michelangelo painting pictures, sweep streets like beethoven composed music... , Be the Best at whatever you are"
Shaq being salty is one of the funniest moments of this Open Court sessions but he did had a point. He was dominant but only one MVP to show for it. I understand why he salty about that. 😂
What if I told you GSW is the team with the most post entries and are aswell the most efficient in post plays in the league in the past two seasons? They shoot a lot of 3's because they have great shooters not because they don't know how to do other stuff, their offense is one of the most complete and all-around great offenses of this era. Great spacing, great ball movement, great off ball movement...they have it all.
last steve kerr statement is a testament of how good he is as a coach. he know his squad n he adapt it. because put big men on the floor might be a bad matchup because most of the team are playing small. plus most big men in the league now dont know how to post. if they can it might hurting small ball but most big men now playing high screen n roll and can shoot mid to long.
