GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 locomotive, 5029 Nunney Castle slogs up the final quarter mile to Dainton Tunnel with The Cornishman, returning from Par to Bristol on Sunday 10th July 2011. The gradient here is 1 in 43, steepening to 1 in 36. You can hear how speed drops dramatically as the train approaches. Apparently, this was the young fireman's first trip over the notorious Devon Banks, and he was struggling with a load of poor coal.
