Here is part II in this series for coolant leaks on the 6.4 Liter Powerstroke. In this video, I will show replacement of the thermostats, removal of the horizontal EGR cooler and removal of the lower radiator hose.

my third time to uninstall and reinstall egr and coolers. Thanks for the video. want to add that taking out the tire gives the needed a few inches to reach the lower cooler hose. it's a nightmare trying to take out the hose.

I did my fist set of Stats this morning. Took less than 2 hours. Your video is the only reason I attempted the job. After watching it a couple times it boosted my confidence, but I must admit when I opened the hood and looked at the job it still made my knees quiver! Thanks for making these great videos.

Thanks to this video I successfully replaced my thermostats tonight with out a hitch. And you were so very right about those thermostat housing bolts being a pain. But I thank to so much for this.

@grasscutter88 In the simplest terms, it cools the fuel. On the 6.4 liter, the fuel pressure is increased in the high pressure fuel pump. The heats the fuel. It returns to the fuel cooler to cool the fuel. The fuel cooler is a liquid to liquid heat exchanger that reduces the fuel temp to ambient temp or better.

How the hell do I remove the upper bolts . I tried a wobble and can’t get them out.

@SparkZ1420 You probably could delete the coolers if it was for off road use or in a non emission state. In a manufactures shop, we go back with original to keep within federal guidelines.

you would be in for quite a shock if you worked in the northeast. rear egr pipe bolts,frt egr studs,egr clamps out ha! all rotted. these things are the worst, very tough to make time.

I’m was cringing to see if that oil dipstick top would snap off flush into the oil dipstick tube at 2:03; happened one time to me & every job that they’re in the way now I take the dipstick out & plug the hole

My lower radiator hose just blew out in regen mode cause it got so hot I'm doing the delete on mine I've had so many costly Repairs due to this

I have a 2008 6.4 L and I have deleted the DPF and the cats also turned off the EGR cooler I was told I would get 20 miles to the gallonbut I'm only getting 13.5 any suggestions?

Find a hill, put it in neutral and coast down it. Then you MIGHT get 20 mpg in a 6.4L.

My f350 drw got 17.5 mpg on an extended vacation up and down the mountains in Oregon from Bend to the Redwoods in Cali., 4500 lb camper on. Similar deletes. Maybe the tune?

Would it just be better to just delete the EGR and RR the Thermostat and Radiator? EGRs have been a fali since the 6.0

Hi. Thanks for the great video. I have a problem with the egr coolant transfer hose you removed at time 9:00 in your video. This hose keeps blowing out. Can you please share if you know the reason. 2008 6.4 L. Thanks

Nothing to do with this video, I am wondering if you would post a video response or how to on the 6.4 transmission flush and topping off of new fluid? I hear horror stories with the transmission service offered at Ford dealerships. I have heard that the flush must be done warm or hot to open thermostats inside transmission. I am no expert, would like to separate fact from fiction. Thanking you in advance.

You are the man!!! Your videos are great. Once I get my lift, I will be pulling the cab just for fun!!!! 6.4's aren't bad, they are just misunderstood!! By the way, EGR systems are the devil!!!!!
