been watching a ton of Spomer and Backfire and those types of videos lately, where they go pretty deep into the head-to-head ballistics comparisons. Just because I realized after 20 years of hunting that I know how to use the guns I have but do not know much at all about shooting sport, or all the cool advancements that have been made in the past decade or longer with arcs and the creedmoors and the prcs, et cetera. So just trying to re-start learning something new again. Which, I think, is why yall’s podcast just started coming into my feed recommendations today. Anyways, after some of those Spomer videos, I am also fantasizing or daydreaming about starting varminting. Maybe with a 17 WSM or a .204 Ruger. Well anyway, I suppose I’ll go ahead and start with my good ‘ol .22 LR first though. Work up to it haha. Have shot so many deer in my life but have never even shot a squirrel or a rabbit or a coyote. I must change that!
Would love to see some more boomstick spotlights. Give rundowns on specific components performance information and such. I believe your audience like myself would geek out on that content. Keep it up.
18" 6 arc ar 15. Shooting mainly coyotes. Launching factory 103's. Love it. U don't need anything else for whiteail and down. And took it out to 700 on steel in a 12 mph 4 o'clock wind with a 3x prism optic. Pretty much hold center of plate and send it. For what I do it doesn't get much better. Love the videos
To answer your question: I have killed two deer at short range with a CZ 527 in 7.62x39. Currently practicing with a Husqvarna 1600 in .308 because it's what I have available with a scope, in preparation for an elk hunt this winter. I am very interested in the Howa Carbon Stalker in 6 ARC (I watched the Vortex Nation Podcast). I am obsessed with getting big power out of small packages for some reason and I was fascinated to find out that a 6 ARC bolt gun can push at 90gr CX bullet at full expansion out to 400 yards (a very long shot for me as it currently stands). In my eyes, 6 ARC and 7 PRC are the dream team to cover all my hunting needs.
I have both 6 ARC in 16” AR and 6 Creed in 24” bolt gun. Have killed whitetail, coyotes, and hogs with both but I definitely prefer the 6 ARC for sure because most of my shots are inside 500 yards. Great content gentleman
Just ordered my howa mini action with a 20in barrel. Have a jtac elf owl chassis on the way as well. Eventually that will be an sbr once I build a dasher or 6 creed. Howa does make a 6 creed almost bought one today unfortunately got taken befor i could get to it.
Is there any other available factory 6ARC? Had a rifle for a year and have been hoping a company besides Hornady starts loading in different grain weights.
Build one yourself with an ambi lower ADM or PWS are my 2 favorite ambi lowers. Just built a 6ARC with the ADM lower and it’s the cats azz. Alien defense rifle
Just started watching and had heard you talk about being from West Texas. I had been trying to figure out where then you mentioned the relation to Ally… I had no idea
Currently in the process of buying an 'all-arounder' hunting rifle for deer / hogs. I've been leaning towards the 6.5 Grendel for an AR-15 build. The availability for 6.5 Grendel ammo and rifles seems to be higher, any thoughts? I don't plan to be shooting long ranges, inside 400 yards more than likely. Love the podcast, thanks for all the insight!
Working on load development for my 110 Predator in 6ARC with the 87gr BTHP. Very affordable bullet if you get it from Midway during their factory second sales.
If Im shooting the 105 Hornady Black out of a Ballistic Advantage barrel and can only get 1.5-2 MOA out of it. Is it my barrel or the hornady ammo? Ive chronoed and seen velocity swings of 75fps.
its the ammo, i shot a 16" cmmg 6arc using all 3 hornady factory loads and all 3 shot best a 2" group. i reloaded 5 different hornady bullets and got all 5 to shoot 0.69". just have to do some work to find what it likes
If it's brand new, you might try lapping or fire lapping or mag dumping a couple mags. I had a r700 bolt gun that threw 5MOA min for the first 50 rounds or so, then it tightened up to right around 1MOA. NGL, I about tossed that broad in the creek on the way home from shooting that first 20-30 rounds lol
@@longrangeredneck1335 agree. And the pros just don’t outweight the cons yet. I can get 243 way cheaper and it’s maybe 10-15% less efficient than the creed. I’m about 6-7 years if the creed has become more available I’d make the move. But not until then though.
6 Creed 24" AR10 Berger 95gr VLD Hunt at 2937fps there a node there, Would like to build a 6 ARC in AR15 next. Just not sure how long of a barrel to go with.
I have a 6arc howa mini in a jtac 9.5" with the telescoping stock i bought in Oct 23 I'm trying to off load because I went to a gas 6 arc and a 6mm creed bolt gun. Just fyi
Damn dude! You have more money tied up in guns than i have in the family vehicles. I just got the last all around deer, pig, coyote rig i'll own. 6arc ar15. 16" proof ss barrel, cmc trig, Anderson upper/lower, Strike ind goodies
I’d also like to encourage yall to begin linking your store info in every single video, every single description, every single podcast from here on out. I heard it mentioned, I think in Midland or something? But you off camera guy said it too fast and I couldn’t make it out. Well I moved away from Midland back to Houston and my catchment of yall’s accent is rusty, as it were, haha maybe that’s it. Anyways yah encourage yall to link it up all the time. Maybe yall’s sales numbers are right where yall want them to be, but if yall are tryna increase gross revenues, I’d again encourage yall to take every opportunity to use free marketing sources like a link in the description.
I tried a few different powders with 55 nbt in bolt action 6 arc. Didn’t have a lot of luck getting sun moa until I worked up Accurate 2200. Getting up to hornadys max load of Accurate 2200 for their 58 vmax and maybe a little bit higher it all came together and no pressure signs. Was just about to give up on that bullet as I thought it was just too much jump or too fast a twist but glad I didn’t. It shoots very well and getting very good velocity out of 18” barrel. 30.6
55 nosler ballistic tip. AR 205M primer. Stout charge of Accurate 2200 Not much luck with benchmark, Xterminator or accurate 2230 with that particular bullet
I think you’re confusing people. Why don’t you explain when u say u get 1” more drop at 400 that you’re using a 350 yard zero. Seems like most people zero their rifles at 100 where they’d have about 5” more drop at 400 and 8-9” more drop at 500
At what range do we zero to come up with this 1 inch more stuff with same bullet 200 fps less? We can get just one inch more drop at 400 with a 30-30 vs a 22-250 but we might have to zero the scopes at 390
Inky if u don’t know what you’re talking about don’t act like you do. It only contributes to the problem. I’m a 6 arc fan. Own 2. Have never had a 6 creed. I’m not at all biased against the 6 arc. What I don’t like is when people try to paint a picture of something misleading. It’s seeming to become more commonplace all the time. I feel like this is a channel you can get good solid info that’s pretty spot on and just hoping we don’t stray down that road. And yes zero distance does matter if we’re measuring drop
@@sethboyce9832 Wrong. A bullets path is determined by factors such as BC and velocity, not by how you zero’d your scope. You cannot make a projectile shoot flatter by changing your zero distance.
28:51 awwww come onnnn man😂 the bullshit in the comments is a part of the whole theme and point of a social media comments section! Let us not spare it, while simultaneously, hopefully recognizing that, some trash talkers do it in earnest jest while also wanting to learn for real, and some trash talkers do it because they think they know more than you, when they do not. Well anyway, the comments section for me has become an utter time suck. A pointless hobby. An entertaining fake sport!😅
I built my son a 6mm arc with. 12.5 inch barrel because it was the only barrel I could find at the time it was when 6mm arc first came out he’s killed deer the last three seasons 2 of which were just over 200 yards he uses 100 grain soft point that I hand loaded with IMR 8208 but this year he’s running 90 grain ELDX that I loaded with Lever and they’re pushing a tad over 2,500 fps so I’m interested in seeing what those will do
