Thanks for the great information. I am installing a 96 Subaru Impreza 2.2 in a VW kit car and I need a pin out for the 96 Impreza. Do you know where I can purchase one. I have purchased some wiring info on ebay but it did not have a pin out.
I have pulled the harness from my 1999 Subaru Legacy with EJ25. The swap is going into a 1980 Vanagon. Are there any variations in the harness from 96-99? I found your resource page on your website but it skips over 99. Is 98 similar?
Kenny - I learned from Yahoo groups, that changes were made from 98 to 99. I have the same donor car, and Mick has wiring for a 99 Forester EJ25..guessing you found a solution by now...
I have one wire left. Pin #59. its on labeled on the pin lay out but is not mentioned in the chart. the wire is blue/white. My harness is from a 98 Ej22 Subaru Legacy. Any idea as to what it may be?
Hi, I'm doing a j22 conversion on my 74 westfalia, and watching your channel has been a great help, thanks for all the great tips. I do have a major problem though, my engine seems to idle fine, but soon as I try to rev it up it wants to backfire and sputter, always returns to idle perfectly. Ive tried everything sensor and vacuum related, checked the timing, fuel pressure is between 30 and 40 psi. Just wondering if you've ever encountered something like this. My donor car was a 1993 legacy, automatic. It ran fine before the swap, so I'm thinking its wiring related.
+Shane Bridden Try the Facebook group "Subaru Powered Volkswagens" or the yahoo group "Subaruvanagon" or the Author of this video own page www.boxerswaps.com Should get an answer. I would try the FB group 1st.
+Shane Bridden hi Shane, it's possible it could be wiring related but hard for me to think of what would cause your backfire. To me, it sounds like a vacuum issue but it's hard to say. Can you try to totally disconnect and block all vac lines to charcoal canister, brake booster, etc? Try revving after that and see if any changes.
