When it came out and i needed to eat i eated watching cutscene and when there wasent any cutscenes i watch people watching those cutscenes i already saw
This channel is heavily under appreciated and it makes me sad and dissapointed that out society does not allow for them to grow to lengths greater than the big guys on youtube
I was swimming today in the Kingdom of Corona, and let me tell you: the water looks beautiful as long as it stays still. Start swimming and the water won't care about physics at all D:
The water in the Caribbean, and another world really close to the end of the game, are really well done. Might have to go back to Corona, I think I missed that part
Jean Acosta i noticed that in olpymus section with the water. I just started the game yesterday (finally). Im wondering now if there a reason why the water doesn’t react to sora and co?
Rob clarifying that jam in the UK is what America calls jelly has just created more confusion. Now the Americans don't realise that jelly over here is completely different lol
@@alptigin5438 I honestly thank you for this clarification. I've not understood what the difference between jam and jelly is for, well my entire life up until now (I'm 36 for perspective). I thought it was like Catsup and Ketchup. Two names for the same thing... unless there's a difference between Catsup and Ketchup that I'm not understanding lol.
Americans call proper jam, jam. They call fake fruit flavoured jelly type stuff jelly, kinda like British jelly, but more fruit content and not as bouncy (more of a preserve spread) they call what we know as jelly, jello. Jam = Jam Jelly = Preserve type stuff/curd Jello = UK jelly There's not much confusion, unless you're thick. Explains why Rob gets it wrong.
Okami is one of the best games i ever play IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Rob is right you have to PLAY IT. The story, the gameplay, music, the characters, the graphics, all is amazing. Thanks for remind me of such beautiful game
Yeah it's one of those games I was iffy about but I do love Japanese mythology so that's pretty much why I got it. One of the best gaming purchases I've ever made
Goodness, Persona 5 is so good I got its platinum in 200 hours of playtime. Best thing is that I didn't even feel those 200 hours, no burnout, no boredom, nothing. I'm holding onto this game as long as I live.
When I try to explain dangan ronpa, I need to explain what ace attorney, wario ware and friendship simulator is all at once, and then clarify why this could really make you feel hollow inside, but yet so good
My brother just bought Persona 5, and I'm trying to decide if I should steal it from him and play it while he's asleep. What? Don't look at me like that! I'm his younger sister, what else am I supposed to do? 😝
You’ll have to steal it, put it back and then steal it again, a lot then. The game is about 100 hours long, and you’ll constantly want to go back and achieve more and more things, and develop different relationships. I’d say get a copy yourself
Jam and jelly are different things. They're made different. I should know, I make peach jam every July and apricot jelly every June. - an American viewer
I remember playing okami back when it came out. I played through the first part of the game and beat ororochi and thought I was done with the game, but then realized how much I hadn't unlocked yet. I had no idea how little of the game I had actually done. For the time period when it came out, it was absolutely unbelievable how amazing that game was. And the best part about cell shaded graphics is how well they age. Okami was the first game I can recall that chose that style and it was absolutely perfect for the story. The entire game feels like it is a canvas. I really could go on, but I'll stop my rambling here.
@@warangelcloud In thematics, over arching plot, and setings yes but in gameplay not so much and if you want to argue that with me I dare you try to defend the bullshit Mot can pull in Nocture I double dare ya!!!!
Uh the ending has a schism growing in the fandom already -_- as some are satisfied others are loseing their minds in anger at something that feels to them like mass efect 3 all over again XD Plus we've still got comeing this year Death Stranding, a new Fire Emblem and an upgraded version of Persona 5 theres alot more left for 2019 before we decide KH3 is best of 2019 granted it is definitely going to be a contender and at least land in most's top 3 of 2019 XD
@@demi-fiendoftime3825 I haven't even played it yet. I am waiting for my copy so no ending spoilers please. I never even played Mass Effect. Overall it was an optimistic joke. Didn't Persona 5 get its fair share of praise when it was originally released? I doubt it's getting "Resident Evil 2" treatment. I mean Kingdom Hearts III is for this years games as "Into the Spider-Verse" was for movies last year. B)
@@demi-fiendoftime3825Well my only upset is the amount of worlds there are and how I'm reading that Twilight Town was shrunk even if it has people now. Otherwise I will probably be on the positive side. Also an ending that satisfies some and not others doesn't judge whether it is a great game of the year. ;)
My objectives for the year: -Get my driving licence -Scrap enough money to buy KH 3 -Finish replaying all the other KHs Let me tell you, the money-getting, and driving licence passing, will not be the hardest XD
nitish kapur If you are interested in 3 just for gameplay sure, if you're interested for story, I suggest looking up catch ups or buying the story so far edition.
@@nitishkapur8193 I would recommend playing previous ones first. However. There is a memory Archives section. This basically sums up the story to a basic understanding. And it's a free update so it's for everyone. The Director said that this game is going to be bought by new comers to the series and he made it his very best to make it easy for new comers. Plus the memory Archives have 5 entries focusing on main aspects that are under 5 minutes each and explains the story well. I recommend you get it. You won't regret it
The memory archive thing is alright but doesn't replace playing the games yourself. If you can afford it I'd go with getting the all in one thing. Has all the games in it and you'd be good to go
Kingdom Hearts draws you in with playing through Disney worlds and interacting with characters from your favourite Disney films and Final Fantasy games, and keeps you engaged initially with a cast of compelling original characters and eventually a surprisingly dense and complex mythos you get satisfaction out of unravelling.
Don't forget the aliens too!! But yeah it sounds totally nuts and silly. But it's not at all silly when you start playing it, it's become my favourite game.
Its not... what a surprise, the one game every gamer and lover of amazing narrative should play but wont - -. Its honestly the best game ive ever played
I bough Persona 5 expecting a really good time, even though it was my first Persona game, but I didn't expect it to be nearly as enjoyable or fun or satisfying as it was. Definitely one of the best games I've ever played, or I've ever seen.
but jam has actual fruit chunks in it? jelly is made from juice so it spreads really easy and is one consistent thickness. jam is mushed up fruit or berries so its not so consistent in texture.
@@joshbrucks I think you might be thinking of Preserves when thinking about the jelly with fruit chunks. Add: no man I've ever purchased has had fruit chunks in it. But preserves definitely do.
I would also put that old and often forgotten 360 and PS3 game Eternal Sonata on the list! We have a game that starts with Frederic Chopin on his deathbed, then you go into a standard JRPG setting, where you play as not only him, but some of my favorite characters in gaming history! The story is standard, but very well done for what it's supposed to be, the music is a mix of original orchestral scores, mixed with a lot of renditions of Chopins own work. But where the game shines for me, is in it's combat mechanics, where being in light or shadow impacts what magic your squad can use, and a lot of the shadows are dynamic! You can also chain normal attacks to power up your magic! Last but not least, the game has a good balance of powering up your party, while also restricting you in some way, like when Harmony Chains, which allows your entire party to chain multiple spells eventually get extremely strong, while also randomizing which of the 4 face buttons does what! If you are a lover of beautiful music, gorgeus setpieces, engaging combat and a difficulty that has always seemed just right, but can be kicked up to a brutal level on NG+, including one of the hardest super bosses i have ever beaten in a video game, this is SOOO a game you should at least try out... Hell, it's even from so early in the PS3 era, that the game doesn't even have tropies!
What about Eternal Sonata? Whoever heard about a 20+ hour jrpg adventure that takes place in the mind of one of the greatest musical composers of all time It combines the story outline and combat system reminiscent of the Tales series with music (I. e., the characters are named after musical terms, and it features segments that chronicle the life of Frederic Francois Chopin accompanied by a masterful rendition of some of the most beautiful and powerful scores he's ever created) This recipe for a captivating video game should not work, and yet I have fallen in love with it and I am not ashamed to say I cried during the interludes (take my word for it if you have yet to play this visual masterpiece)
Love the video, as usual :) Friday features are the best. Just throwing this out there, though... Yeah, you could play Okami on the PlayStation and paint using joysticks. Or you could get the game on the Wii / Switch, and actually feel like you're painting using the nunchuks / joycons. Drawing a circle with a joystick vs pointing a joycon and actually drawing a circle, lol
wait a minute rob...thunderbirds? thats when I was a kid in the 60's with scott mcloud space angel,,,clutch cargo... Diver Dan....Super Car... ahhh man they were the innocent days
Omg yes catherine! Such a good game. I can't wait for the fullbody edition to release. Too bad it doesn't release on valentines day as it does in japan x.x Would have been my perfect date :')
I've had Persona 5 installed ready to play for months, will hopefully get round to it soon. Oxenfree could probably fit this list, played that after a Rob recommendation.
well u better prepare for one of the most engaging game you will ever play..its been 2 years since i first finished persona 5 and i keep coming back to it every couple of weeks..have fun brother
I was torn between this, until dawn and Nier Automata, in terms of what to play next. I'm nearly done with The Witcher: Blood & Wine so maybe I'll swap one obsession for another.
The way you described Kingdom Hearts sounded like you just described the basic concept of science fiction. People from different worlds meeting, some might look terrifying but it doesn't mean they can't start working together and form bonds.
Thomas was alone is so profound. Truly a deep theme that people are different but we use each others strengths and work together. I'm really glad is on PS+.
@@beastofdarknesss5822 Never had any :( though I have seen some new ones in places like Forbidden Planet, though I did have all the Turtles and Biker Mice From Mars toys
Awesome video! You covered a couple of my all time favorites--including Catherine--and some new games that I haven't played yet. Okami is next on my list 😀
No hate here my brother. We’re all part of the gaming community. Xbox has its pros and cons and PS4 has its pros and cons. That’s just how it is. Can’t stand this war between gamers who choose a different console or who aren’t on PC. It’s so petty and stupid at this point, especially considering the next gen of consoles are looking like they’ll have cross platform
@@kinnexion you could not have said that any better. That's my exact thoughts on the whole console war thing. Its childish and stupid. Since when did gaming become about what you played on instead of the games? Though I do kinda feel bad about the xbox not getting the kingdom hearts remixes before 3. Seems kinda dumb to put 3 on there without them. The memory archive is fine but doesn't replace playing the games yourself
@@darknesswave100 the console wars really are just dumb literally everything has some pro and some con. I own a ps4, switch, and ultrabook and each have their own pros and cons
@@osokari2 yeah she's CD Projekt Reds EU PR manager... which if she went anywhere im glad it was either their or S.E. I only wish she was CDPRs NA PR manager at well...
My answer? The Yakuza series. Everybody's talking about these games as if they are just goofy minigames but they are the best crime drama video game series ever.
I'd like to add every Lego game made since the Star Wars Complete Saga. You don't expect running around, collecting studs and playing through the story of whatever adaptation you're playing that day could be all that much fun. That is where you would be wrong. It is so much fun. Trying to complete one could be a bit of a hassle, though. P.S. While playing through Okami, every time Isshun talked I said it out loud with a thick Scottish accent. Made everything 20% better.
Road Trip Adventure for PS2. It's an incredibly charming open world driving game with a rather childish, colourful, penny racer aesthetic where the people are cars and the ultimate objective is to qualify for and win the big Grand Prix to become the new president. There are various towns with different themes (Vegas, Snow, Japanese Town, Desert, in the clouds among others), fun collectables like photobooths and coins to find in the world. You could buy different bodyworks to customise your car, along with crazy mods like jet engines and propellers to drive underwater, also get to the name the currency for the game. Tire types mattered, you were noticeably worse off if you tried to drive slicks on a dirt track for example and vice versa. You could recruit people to your team and customise them by helping that out. You could also make and bring people from all over the world to your very own city you build up from scratch. There's a wealth of side activities, some of which can be played multiplayer - car soccer (ala Rocket League), car golf, obstacle courses, ski jump, curling etc. Sounds a crazy game, and it is, but it really, really awesome. Seriously get this game! It's a PS2 download on PS3.
As nordic person i ask; why in the world would you put peanut butter and jam/jelly in bread!! Thats so wrong. All you get is sugar rush in the morning. So, so wrong.
Fantastic video this week! Every year I let my English students play the Thomas was Alone demo. Then I draw 3 squares/rectangles on the board and we talk about it for an hour. Love it!
We're all used to peanut butter and jam, thanks to the yanks. My Dad had a habit of mixing vegemite with either peanut butter or lemon spread. I was never game to try it myself, but my brother liked it.
Thank you for calling out Okami! One of the best games ever made! Okami-Den seems nice but we really need a full blown Okami 2 please, please, pretty please!
Chris Fury Unfortunately, both Okami and Okamiden flopped at release, so it's doubtful they'll ever make a real Okami 2. I don't know how well the remaster did so maybe there's still some hope though. Anyway, if it happens, it better be Platinum Game making it, as it's the former Clover Studio guys but with more experience in action and story telling!
This sales pitch hasn't sold me on KH3. I tried to catch up on the story watching the developer catch up videos... no, nah. Not sure what the hell the story actually is.
Rob, I wanted to take this moment to thank you. It was because of your glowing recommendation on another video, I think it was the "7 Playstation exclusives everyone wants to show off", that caused me to give Persona 5 a chance. Without that, I would never have given it a second thought. But, thanks to you, I bought it, and dove into one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. Thank you, Rob.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is the game of the year. Even if last of us 2 drops this year kingdom Hearts 3 got it without competition. Rarely played a game this good. Better than everything dropping last year and probably the best on the ps4 since persona 5. And even there kingdom Hearts 3 outshines it. 100% worth waiting 13 years for it, being in development for 5 and a half years and preordering the limited deluxe Edition seven months ago. Everyone should buy it. Watch the cutscenes of the other games on RU-vid beforehand though. You gonna get lost otherwise
@@jackbordar2727 And getting the Ultima Weapon... Getting those Orichalcum+ is a pain. I did find out how to get more materials to upgrade the Keyblades, though.
You should do a list of "7 Of The Most Original Shooters In The Last Five Years." Eh? Not that I'm telling you what to do, you guys are the pro's, I'm just a humble fan. The greatest humblist fan ever.
"In North America, jelly (from the French gelée) refers exclusively to a clear or translucent fruit spread made from sweetened fruit (or vegetable) juice-thus differing from jam by excluding the fruit's flesh." Doesn't sound all that different. *Shrugs*
I ry enjoyed persona 5. Got the 3rd dungeon and just stopped playing it....No idea why! This video has just given me the itch to dive right back in when I've finished Resi 2! Thanks Rob 👍
You're not missing much, it's basically the same the entire game. You can tell they put all their effort into the first dungeon and then it just gets worse after that.
josh mcglenn dude wtf is wrong with u u clearly didn’t know anything about jrpg or persona in general, the first dungeon is not part of the plot at all it just tutorial, the plot get in at the fourth dungeon
@@john_7000 which makes it worse since again the first dungeon is the best part of the game. There's less effort put into everything else. This is because the first dungeon was what they were showing off to advertise the game so they made it look good to sell the game.
josh mcglenn you are an idiot!! Dude the game got one of the best reviewed game in 2017 and won best rpg of 2017 and a top contender for goty, everyone praising the design of the dungeons and the story is very deep
I don’t know if anyones ever played Friday Feature on the PlayStation Access but you play as Rob, nice guy, young parent, Dr. Pepper addict, who you always catch at the start introducing a connecting theme to various games. His sidekicks are Nath who likes to impersonate Professor Brian Cox and Dave who doesn’t like to impersonate Rob’s mother. The task is to make it to the end of the video while getting Dave to make a tally chart of Metal Gear Solid references to his chagrin.
Jak 2. I know, I know, it was hard and Jak 3 ironed out the flaws, but you've got to admit that turning a fun and colorful platformer into a grittier action game with guns is a heck of a shift and an impressive one to pull off at that.
I’d say red dead 2 is definitely up there. Top five of all time for sure. I personally think final fantasy X is the best game ever made and persona 5 has a good shout
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger: you’re a Tasmanian Tiger armed with boomerangs, fighting frill lizards so you can stop the evil cassowary from doing bad things to the koalas. Yet... somehow it’s incredible.
Wow, that line about Chie and Yosuke and Yukiko being your friends really hit me. It's why I haven't finished Golden, despite being at the final boss battle for months.
I'm playing Kingdom Hearts 3 right now...I'm sure everyone else is too - but that description of the game in the beginning is so accurate lol. The combat makes absolutely no sense at all and is what it is because it is; and I've played all the other ones... This is on a whole new level haha
