This 7 movements of the spine yoga flow is a great yoga for beginners class. This is helpful yoga for back pain and is a breathe and flow yoga for the spine. This is a 20 minute yoga class with centring meditation and explores all 7 movements of the spine - elongation, rotation, flexion, extension and lateral flexion. These movements are great for good posture and helpful with flexibility. It’s a pratapana warm up for going into more asanas.

This 20 minute slow and gentle seated 7 movements of the spine is a great yoga class for back pain. This yoga warm up (pratapana) is wonderful for good posture and keeping the spine healthy and flexible. This includes an opening centring and calming meditation.
In this 20 Minute yoga class for spinal health, Ally Boothroyd will guide you through some the 7 movements (sometimes called the 6 movements) of the spine. Ally teaches a 20 minute yoga warm up for keeping the spine flexible and strong.

Wow wow wow. Thank you very much. It seems simple but this is exactly what I needed today. I was just listening to Yoga With Kassandra's new vlog (October 18, 2022) on emotional releases during yoga, and it reminded me of a huge reason I started a morning yoga practice, that I had completely forgotten. It wasn't just my physical and mental health, it was my emotional health - recovering from PTSD nightmares and regulating myself in the morning before I allowed myself to look at my phone or respond to any messages, since I would often be angry. Listening to her blog this morning made me realize the reason I literally walk off my mat during yoga practices sometimes, isn't just because I have ADHD, it's because I'm not feeling through the emotions that are stored in my body! There's a reason I'm not focusing on what I'm doing. Anyway, doing this peaceful practice this morning brought me back to the core ;) of my why, my sankalpa (I was also listening to your Sankalpa video yesterday) which is healing in all ways including my spine! Hello spinal deformity. I know a lot of this comment refers to another teacher but I know you get a lot of feedback on how people with different ailments use your work, so maybe you'll appreciate. Thank you very much! Adding this to my collection!

I'm glad to hear that Angela, I can tell you that I definitely not always at peace!!! However, my Sankalpa is around creating peace within myself and in the world. It's guiding star that I come back to several times a day

I chose to do this today as a warm up for further asanas. I found it to be warming, gentle and centring. Feeling calmer, breathing more deeply. It is a lovely practice to do just on its own. It helped me focus as I noticed and turned into how each vertabrae in my back was feeling as I stretched and relaxed. Thank you. Love your calm clear voice as guidance. EWTT 23/24

Ally, I loved this practice. The subtle spine movement was delightful - in the truest sense of the word. I LOVE our training. It's come at the exact time for me and - although I have practiced yoga on and off since 1965, in one month this training completely changed how I veiw yoga. Embodied! Thank you.

This felt so good. I love the inclusion of the eighth movement of the spine, compression, which highlights how each movement has an opposite, a counterbalance. #embodiedwisdomYTT

Hey Ally, in the 200 hr training and this gentle practice felt so good for my body. I have been carrying some extra tension in my upper back and shoulders from work stress as well as being sore from working out. This gentle movement was so effective in getting what felt like some stagnant energy flowing through. Feeling lighter and flowy. Thank you

This was definitely a short sweet practice to warm up the spine. I tried doing it my chair, rather than sitting on the floor to see what it might feel like. I felt a bit restricted in my chair and found it to be a good learning experience to think about when teaching. I loved the gentle flow of moving the spine in different directions, flexion, extension, side/lateral, twists. Moon2Moon

I love this 7 movement flow of the spine.. I found there was a lot of tension in the neck that got slowly released after following the flow and the breath. It must be good for me as I can’t stop yawning ;-)

Good morning Ally. Really enjoyed the gentle, fluid movements of my spine and upper body in this practice of pratapana. Felt more spacious, mobile and focused, linking breath to movement. I’m learning new terms and loving the focus on the chakras as I’m not very familiar with them. Really enjoying the YTT 🙏🏻

Thank you so much for this beautiful practice, - so simple and so calming at the same time! I am just off to a mammoth 11 day teaching trip and feeling really inspired and excited by the idea of using some of these movements in my lectures to help my students to feel grounded and sense their bodies during the long days of mostly sitting and concentrating. I have never done anything like this before, and I know that my tendency is to be too cognitive/ head-focussed, so I am really looking forward to trying out including more subtle movement and interoception during my lectures. And curious to see, how students might receive this. I suppose these movements are so gentle, that there is risk of injury or other counter-indications??

So the seven are: neck, cat/cow, twists, lateral reach, shoulder roll, neck - I am missing something. I always feel relaxed after gentle movement in a flowing way. EWYTT

Seven are: elongation (some would consider compression the 8th movement) and rotation in each direction, laterally in each direction (lateral flexión) and flexion/extension (cat/cow) 👌🏼🙏🏼❤️
