Great video! I moved here from Las Vegas sight unseen a few months before the shutdown (I’m originally from Chicago). You pretty much nailed it: I love that it’s a mid-sized city with a small town feel. It’s not as “ southern “ as I thought it would be. I moved here to be closer to home, without the sub-zero temperatures. I didn’t have allergies until I moved here. The public transportation could be better. Most of all, the people: I’ve been all over the country, and Louisvillians are some of the friendliest, most helpful people I’ve ever met. If you don’t like talking to people, don’t ask for directions 😊

Thinking about moving there. I'm from Tampa, Fl. My major concern is the weather. Not worried about allergies cause it's pretty bad in Tampa and I don't have to mebtion the humidity in Florida. I appreciate the post. This was helpful.

Ive been heavily considering relocating there or nearby. If thats your top 7 reasons to not move there, Im ok with that. I am aware of the unmentioned crime & the wost parts of the city. Thats to be expected in any larger city. My current weather changes way more often. We had a 40 degree change last week in less than 12 hours. Ive lived in a city of over 500k (800k+ metro) & in a town of just 200. Not 200k, just 200 so I can adapt. Im not a big sports guy so no pro sports is irrelevant to me. Same with whether or not to consider it southern. Not a factor for me. I just want a change from my current place. Im also not prone to allergies.

You might want to talk to a native Louisvillian before posting. Being born and raised in Louisville, my mother was raised here and my dad hails from Eastern Kentucky, but moved here at 11, I feel the history is important. Especially if it’s going out on social media. Those aren’t hills in Appalachia, they’re the oldest mountain system on the planet, home to rich diversity of flora and fauna and some amazing people and culture came from there. You missed a great opportunity to turn a negative stereotype into something positive. Your statements, unintended I know, added to the stereotype. Kentucky was not neutral in the American Civil War. We were a border state, but far from neutral. Eastern Kentucky mostly fought for the north, but families across the state were divided and many torn apart as a result of the war. Equally as important is the number of battles and long lasting destruction including financial costs because we were a border state. West Virginia was too rugged so much of the war crossed the border west of the mountains. We did have a pro basketball team, The Kentucky Colonels, until the early ‘70’s. Allergies are bad in Louisville due to the geography of the Ohio Valley here at the Falls of the Ohio. Flora is diverse, but the problem is we sit down in this valley almost like a bowl and the winds don’t push allergens through. They more or less swirl in this valley. Your intentions seem to be good, driving business to our fair city is terrific, but Kentuckians and Louisvillians are touchy about our history. Probably because we have been stereotyped so much. A fair reason not to move to Louisville is crime on the streets and inside LMPD and our courts.

Louisville is my home town. I had to transfer with a job in 2000. My allergies got WORSE when I moved to North Carolina. You mention allergies, but they are far worse in the south

A couple problem times in Louisville are or course Derby when our population damn near triples and the State Fair when it almost doubles. It goes back to some semblance of normal after 2 or 3 weeks, after derby the population does increase a bit but nothing insane.

@@LVKY The Seelbach, Waverly, Camp Taylor, The Brennan House, The Brown Hotel, The First Church of Christ Sciencetist, The Belle of Louisville, Cave Hill Cemetery, Phoenix Hill Tavern, Baxter Avenue Morgue and all of the Old Louisville area. We have quite the history. I used to work at the private airport and I had to pick up a few pilots over the 8 years I worked there from The Brown and The Seelbach who were total skeptics before they had experiences bad enough that these gentlemen had to call their bosses and schedulers (knowing they'd be scrutinized) to make different overnight arrangements. It would make a great video for you to share. I'm sure you can find plenty of information on all the places I've mentioned easily.

The traffic is unreasonable-Its shocking how poorly this city is laid out. Miss an exit on the freeway, you're driving to Missouri before you can get off and turn. The town is incredibly segregated and likes to pretend it isn't. There ain't $#!t to do unless you're a 30 something, hipster, millennial who hangs out in "NuLu" and and can afford to hang out at pretentious over-priced bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. There is nothing to do for the family if you have older kids-middle school age and older. There's nothing to do in this town if you're black-There I said it...If you ain't into hipster folk music and nobody rock bands, you ass out. If you're not into craft beer, bourbon, college, and even high school sports...You ass out. Big music acts pass over and just go to Cincinnati or Indianapolis (Even thought I don't care for pop music) That said no obscure or strong indie acts come here. As you can see-I really, really hate it here. I have life circumstances that keep me here but one day i'm gone and NEVER looking back.

@@NicholsonSam I saw on your channel that you really hate Louisville. HA, you called it a shithole. What about it that you did not like? The night life, people, your job, or where you were living? @@imaginelovepeaceandhappine3281 well I don't hate it just got really dissapointed. I thought it would be better than the research i did. Maybe it was because I was alone and went to the wrong areas. There is a bad meth problem there. Capitalism shows itself pretty bad and downtown felt very unsafe.
@imaginelovepeaceandhappine3281
@Sam Nicholson Sorry to hear that. When we moved back my hubby insisted that we not rent in certain areas. Near downtown was one of them. I would love a loft downtown. It took our house 10 months to build out in the Shelbyville area. We moved in real quick. Now all he can fuss about is the traffic. Wishing you Love, Peace and Happiness

I lost is a little different iv live in Louisville all my life an I'm 59 number 7 racism every since Breanna Taylor's boyfriend shot a cop in the leg an they returned fire an the boyfriend hid behind her an most peaple in the us say she was shot in her bed she was not in her bed an if someone shoots at police what are they supposed to do #6 corrupt leaders are mayor that paid the Taylor family 14 million an an the boyfriend 2 million is was the problem in Louisville he had a affair an the Taylor family new this info an the mayor paid them 14 million without the city leader knowing anything about the money being paid late at nite.#5 crime every since a Black man got paid 2 million after shooting a officer in the leg crime is so bad here nobody would believe an nothing is being in forced cuz the police are afraid of the city not standing by them just like in the Taylor shooting. an I can sum up the rest of my list like this crime without any accountability .drug dealing in ramped an our public schools the teachers an the bus drivers are getting threatened every day no way would my kid go to public school here an last thing I could go on an on but I hav no need to cuz I'm selling my house an getting out of little Detroit while I'm still alive

Breanna Taylor was a thug. BLM blew it up out of proportion. Nearly destroyed our city. Not to mention many of the historical statues were taken down. I moved an hour and a half south. I feel much safer here. Lived in Louisville 25 years, raised 5 kids, not in Public school, as the system sucks. Personal property taxes have increased beyond belief, utilities, crime, corruption in all government jobs. Not a place I would recommend, but where is the perfect place to live these days. They don’t exist or I’d be there.

High crime, extremely liberal democrat elected leaders, high drug issues, downtown is a nightmare's nighmare that residents totally despise because hospitals are crammed together, conjestion, parking is just as horrible + expensive & limited. Govt housing is being erected everywhere that invites numerous more troubles. Also, I know several elders that refuse medical treatment if told their appointments are downtown. Police are great, hut morale & shortage of officers are crucial. Louisville is so bad, liberal leaders tried to get a new V.A. Hospital downtown ignoring outrage from all Veterans. Thankfully, it finally failed. Oh, public schools are horrible. Bottom line, adjacent counties are considered great & much preferred as well as southern Indiana. Do your own objective research and be thorough.
