Today we’re going to talk about the importance of sodium for your health. I’m also going to cover the warning signs of a sodium deficiency.
The best way to get sodium is by consuming salt. Baja Gold Sea Salt is a fantastic source of sodium.
It’s crucial to balance the salt in your diet and add the opposing mineral, potassium, to your diet as well. The average person needs 1 to 2 tsp of sea salt each day.
Top benefits of salt:
• It helps regulate the fluids in your body
• It helps make hydrochloric acid
• It maintains your pH
• It’s involved in the sodium-potassium pump
• It supports glucose absorption
• It helps hydrate you
Causes of a salt deficiency:
• A lack of salt in the diet
• Stress
• Sweating
• Excess potassium in the diet without enough sodium
• Keto
• Fasting
• Caffeine
• Drinking too much water
Symptoms of a salt deficiency:
1. Weakness
2. Dizziness
3. Low blood pressure
4. Insomnia
5. Headaches
6. Muscle cramps
7. Low tolerance to heat

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and put on high blood pressure medication when I was 31, but for years continued to have extremely high blood pressure, my diastolic bp was over 100 for years, systolic 145+. This was despite the fact that I ate a very clean very healthy diet, and I never used salt, sugar, cookies, candy, soda, alcohol or junk food, and did not smoke. One day I bought some sea salt to use for a cleaning job in the kitchen, and then used a little of it on my salmon. It was so tasty that I kept using it. A few weeks later when my doctor took my blood pressure, it was down to 100 over 70, down from 145 over 110!!! I have continued to use sea salt and my bp has remained at 100 over 70 !!!!

I have had low blood pressure most of my life. Random dizzy spells, fatigue, weakness, intolerance to heat, weight gain, shortness of breath, and my doctors could never figure out what was wrong with me. I had also been craving sea salt potato chips SO BADLY for a few months and every time I ate them and drank a little water, I felt like completely normal again. Started adding celtic sea salt and trace minerals to my water every day, and boom. Back to normal. But when I spoke to my doctors about it, they tell me I am just dehydrated and to "drink more water" which was making the situation worse. My Naturopathic Dr told me to add more celtic sea salt. Waddya know. Now I'm better. Thank you for this video. Quality salt has been demonized for way too long.

Nowaday doctors do not heal. Instead they steal your health. That s why I dont follow their recommendations completely. For example, last year I was having dizziness and worst headaches in my life. Doctors checked me up, and prescribed pain killers. I ignored, as usual and found neck exercises from U tube. And guess what , after 3 months I am fine again. Headaches gone for good!!!

When my husband was in the army he was issued salt tablets. In the 80s the anti salt craze hit and they eliminated the tablets. My husband and others just got their own because without them weakness and other problems occurred. After his retirement, he found in his new outdoor activities caused much sweating and he had to find a pharmacy that carried salt tablets. He has always had high blood pressure and now in his late 60s is in good health.

Restaurants, Fast food, Grocery stores, cooking at home, etc....everything has TONS of salt in it. They/we put it in everything! So how could anyone be deficient?
@mjccarpentrymjccarpentry5145
@@cannotbeshaken7889 I wondered about this and apparently it is because of the type of salt. Processed table salt has impurities which can cause inflammation and contribute to high blood pressure. Eating a low processed food diet and adding sea salt seems to be the answer. I do this and add Celtic sea salt to lots of foods or even a pinch to water and find I am not as dehydrated as I used to be.
@cannotbeshaken7889
@cannotbeshaken7889 Год назад
@@mjccarpentrymjccarpentry5145 Although table salt has impurities in it, it still has the salt in it.
@mjccarpentrymjccarpentry5145
@@cannotbeshaken7889 Yes that is true. I wonder if the demonizing of salt is correct though. My Mum is dead set against using salt in almost anything and as a child we had very little salt in our diet. I suffered terribly with cramps until recently. And although I have a low processed food diet and drink a lot of water and very little caffeine I would often get dehydrated. I have been experimenting with using Celtic sea salt and using it with my food and have found that I do seem to cope in the heat better, have very few cramps and have less issues with acid reflux, all of which Dr Berg has said can be symptoms of sodium deficiency. And I have healthy blood pressure. Perhaps the salt in processed food is not in a form that our bodies can utilise as is often the case with most nutrients in modern food processing.

I use a keto diet and this is what I drink throughout the day. In the morning: lemon juice + apple cider vinegar + 2 grams of Himalayan salt, mix with warm water and drink immediately. Throughout the day: 1.5 liters of ginger and cinnamon tea + a teaspoon of Himalayan salt. In the evening: add apple cider vinegar + 2 grams of Himalayan salt to moringa powder tea (warm but not hot). I am 50 years old, I work as a metal worker in a factory for 10.5 hours a day. I am full of energy, and not sleepy or tired after work. My blood pressure is normal and my blood sugar is a little high(5,5-6,5).Blood ketone level is 0.6-08 mmol/l. I lost some weight but that was not my goal but normal blood sugar.

"Involved in the sodium-potassium pump" - critical for proper muscle function, including the heart muscle. Sodium deficiency caused an irregular heart beat for me one summer, from exercising too hard and long in the heat without sufficient replacement. Something to note, as well, is that you should not increase your sodium intake too quickly following deficiency, or brain/nerve damage can result.

@josephcernansky1794 Год назад
Where do you think ALL of the salt on planet Earth ever came from?!?!? THE SEA!!!!!! It is a geochemical erosion of the minerals called Feldspars over billions of years!! and still happening today! Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium are ALL the different types of Feldspar minerals. I won't get into all the geoscience involved in it, but trust me, if you eat salt from ANY source.....you EAT SEA SALT all the time. Perhaps it is the processing of the salts that these people don't like? Like cleaning and then "bleaching" with guess what? CHLORINE!! The same CHLORINE Berg is talking about that your body NEEDS!! 🙄 Salt is cleaned for the reason that in its raw form is DIRTY. It contains all sorts of other minerals and "DIRT" that people would be turned off by. So, they "clean" it for you. There have even been RU-vid videos done to PROVE that "SEA SALT" that you buy contains "SAND" particles. UNDISSOLVED rock minerals, primarily quartzite, the main mineral in SANDSTONE, which is also what GLASS is made from. So, if they talk about "leaky gut" and irritation in your intestines.... Why are they telling you to ingest SAND?!?!? Very extremely fine QUARTZITE that is TOTALLY INSOLUABLE???!?!?!?!?🙄 By the way, if you drink tap water you are drinking chlorine. Not good. In fact, decades ago it was regulated by the FDA to administer 3 ppm in public water supplies to keep the water free from pathogens and help to "clear" it. However, in recent times that level has been increased to 6.5 ppm. Which still does not guarantee to eliminate all cystic microbes in water. But it is TWICE the level of what is recommended in swimming pools! So, if you drink UNPURIFIED tap water.... you're drinking the swimming pool. 🤮 Bottom-line is eat your salt! Get a suitable balance of salts and if you want to pay more for it.... you don't need to... but just send me the extra into my account....I too can make millions from hyped products like "grass-fed" meats which should be dirt cheap alternatives to "grain-fed" meats. 🤔 PS: I don't worry so much about the salt issue. I use a mix of IODIZED salt, pink salt, and potassium salt. I make myself.... since I put the iodized salts back in, my wife's thyroid issues are gone, and it is really easy to add and mix. I never bothered to "purify" the pink salts which are basically just RAW uncleansed salts. And I agree that RAW salts do add a tad more flavor than processed iodized salts and can actually use less of. BUT....another thing is that the natural diets from the "old-country"...the poor peasants did not have salt so readily affordable BUT they could make vinegar. AND vinegar activates the same taste senses on the tongue as salt. So, adding more vinegar to foods and eating sour soups and foods is what they did. Which now, they tell you to drink apple cider vinegar?!?! Who knew those dumb poor peasants knew the secrets to living past 100 all along?!?! (SECRET recipe...add 1 to 5 drops of vinegar per cup of gravy and everybody will think you are a world class chef! You can't taste the vinegar, but the food gets "kicked-up" so much!! {and it helps emulsify and digest the "fats" that you should be using in the drippings for gravy.} Amazing that all these "brilliant" people are just now discovering what the ancestors KNEW worked best!!!

Is this correct for athletes sodium intake: 150-pound athletes (both male and female) who train at high intensity levels should drink at least 2 or 3 liters of water per day. 200-pound athletes should be drinking a minimum of three to four liters, and athletes over 225 pounds should drink a minimum of four to six liters. At 2 grams per 1 liter of fluid replacement, it's obvious that most athletes do not take in nearly enough sodium. For example, a 225-pound athlete would need to ingest between 8 and 12 grams of sodium daily. That's right, 8,000 to 12,000 mg a day.
