My parents had an wood console tv just like in the commercial. Man that thing was built to last! It lasted decades and they finally had to dump it not because it broke down, but the sound and color was shot.

I have watched many of the old car commercials from the 70's and it is funny how they thought the best selling angle was the size of the car and how bigger and better the cars were than the European and Japanese made cars. No wonder all the "Big 3" never truly recovered from the gas crisis of the '70's! We won't even talk about the vinyl tops and interiors! UGH!

I remember being at my uncle's house watching this Super Bowl. My cousin and I bet a kid a quarter that Steelers would win, the other kid was a Cowboys fan how he survived living in Pittsburgh, PA especially that year still amazes me lol. Needless to say my cousin and I won 50 cents a piece from the kid...I was around 12 and my cousin was like 8 or 9 at the time. We felt rich with our 50 cent winnings lol.

After seeing that Chrysler ad, I looked up what $43 1979 dollars is worth in 2018, and it's $69.43. Not sure why that's something to write home about when it was apparently a $3000 car.

The St. Regis was the downsized replacement for the Monaco. They killed it only a couple years later.

NBC with no peacock? I don't remember them ever NOT using some version of the peacock logo.

Regardless if you remember it or not, this logo was used from 1976-1979. The Peacock returned in September of '79.

What about that "Caribbean Carnival" halftime show? I love watching the old-school Super Bowl halftime shows from the 1970's and 80's, but I haven't found that one on RU-vid as of yet.

I will have to say that the Superbowl commercials today are much better and more interesting...I too can't believe how "blah" the game seems compared to today standards!
