Pokkén Tournament (Wii U) - Tekken Character Iconic moves and Stages reference also an animation comparison this game were developed by Bandai Namco so it's no surprise that you can find a lot of easter eggs from Tekken.
Part 2 is here, please check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hC3TMenUAnE.html P.S. This game were developed by Bandai Namco and Harada was also one of the producer if anyone curious why there're a lot of Tekken references
Along with Masaki Hoshino who was a former director of the Soul Calibur series. Now moved on from Bandai Namco to The Pokemon company thanks to this game, currently director of their moba game lol.
I wasn't expecting to see THAT many references tbh! I thought the name Pokken was just a play of words and a wink! The last thing I expected was to see that some moved were literally taken from Tekken! And I am very pleased to know that, but pissed it took me so long to notice.
@@Gazing-09 Wow dude! Same here. I really thought it was called Pokken because it was simply a fighting game, and not because it had so many references to Tekken. That might not be the case, but it seem like it. I didn't even know it was made by Bandai tbh
As Sakurai once said about Kazuya’s final smash. “In Japanese he’s saying, “This will be your burying ground!” It might sound like a cool phrase, but he’s also saying it to fighters like Pikachu.” I think he knows it’s Heihachi.
@fenrirsrage4609 according to Harada Pikachu is Heihachi's favorite Pokémon since he likes the ears. Kazuya on the other hand doesn't know what a Pokémon is and mistakes Kirby for one
@@oliverholm3973 Is tekken 7 is a reskin of tekken 6 because it has the same moves? ‘Pokken’ is a mix of ‘pokemon’ and ‘tekken’. Because of that it should play like tekken imo.
It deserved more or better in all categories. This game's biggest downfall was it screamed side project rather then them wanting a game to try and break through the FGC. A sequel is definitely well warranted.
It's insane how much attention to detail there is in this game to both the Tekken and Pokemon source material. One of my favourite things is how creative they got with adapting mechanics from the mainline Pokemon games to Pokken too, things like Chandelure having hex, a command grab that becomes stronger if the opponent has debuffs, or Decidueye's acrobatics being stronger if you DON'T have full meter (analogous to in game where its stronger if you don't have an item), or Weavile's knock off removing meter (again like how it removes items in game). There's so much passion, it's criminal that it was never advertised enough that people are still only seeing it for the first time over 7 years later
i dont think people havent heard, its just that wii u was a failed console that nobody owned. already lost all the hype by the time it got ported to switch
@@DivineBananaso just like all sequels or ports to the switch this game is gonna need a comeback for the next system and it can happen with improved hardware
It's like some of the Tekken characters somehow ended up on this random island and actually taught certain Pokémons about how to fight mano-o-mano and they taught some of their best moves to the Pokémon they liked. And because of that, they now have what is basically the Ferrum league, which is the Pokémon's version of the King of Iron Fist Tournament.
If only Heihachi knows he had another such a talented son that is Pikachu, he wouldn't go nuts over his (presumably) only demonic son. I can quite imagine he would build an amusement park exclusively for Pikachu and plays with him all day like a spoiling grandpa would.
Part of Project Souls team also helped worked on this, Soul Calibur moves can also be found on characters like Chandelure, others than Soul Calibur references. Some character even has reference to Gundam moves.
@@christopherc7075 I don't play much of the Gundam games, but here's what I heard from the players so far. Gardevoir's counter attack is Nobel's Beam Ribbon Spin. One of Scizor's victory pose is RX-78-2's Last Shooting.
Pokken is such great game! Remembered playing it for the first time and just ROFL when Pikachu can do the Electric! Now that Kazuya is in Smash modders can make Pikachu and the other Pokemon have Pokken movesets and it truly has come full circle!
The parallels they drew between the Pokemon and the Tekken cast is super interesting - Pikachu is Heihachi, Garchomp is Bryan, Charizard is Devil, ect Now I want to see the Tekken fighters with each as their signature Pokemon
Don't get me wrong, Pokkén Tournament is a great game for fans of Pokémon and Tekken alike. However, I believe it would have worked better as a standard 3D fighting game instead of an arena fighter. Still, you can't deny that the developers put a lot of thought into the moves that each Pokémon borrows from the iconic cast of The King of Iron Fist Tournament, along with some of the stages and respective Easter eggs you can spot.
@@thijs3900 to my knowledge it’s movement. Arena fighters are a lot less restricted movement wise. In arena fighters you can run away from your opponent and run all over the arena. In 3D fighters you’re closer to your opponent with less options of movement. You’re always facing your opponent and aren’t allowed too far from them. It’s more about the micro spacing and getting in on your opponent.
Its an arena fighter that can transition into 2D, with the arena part putting a lot of emphasis on fireballs and space control It's fun, but was a bit too ahead of its time (and the Nintendo-only part which hurt it in the long run). Such a shame
The cleverness and creativity here is awesome! Some of these straight up perfectly translate to Pokemon moves. I think Mewtwo takes from Kazuya, so Pikachu vs Mewtwo, incredible. Now i want a spin off game where Tekken characters have Pokemon with them. Kind of like that one time in Pokemon Conquest. Just imagine how well King and Incineroar would get along. They're too perfect.
Theres a common stun animation that was created for pokken where the characters look as if they're getting electrocuted. The exact animation was used for Eliza's rage art in tekken 7 when she magically freezes the opponent in place.
These references were pretty cool, there's also a handful from Soul Calibur and Street Fighter as well(Blaziken also borrows moves from Ken and Chun-Li). Decidueye(The Grass Owl) also has Hwoarang references if I'm not mistaken.
Back in the days, I was so happy that Sceptile used the same moves than Yoshimitsu. My favorite Pokemon (at the time) with my favorite video game character moveset was such a cool thing.
It's actually scary how close my favorite characters in Pokken are to my favorite characters in Tekken. Lol Also, Pikachu + Electric Wind God Fist is amazing.
Every time I see more of this game I just really wanna get into it. I really wish the local gameplay were more accessible, I'm sure this game would have taken off so much more.
Fantastic to see Pokkén get some love! The Pikachus, Charizard and Sceptile Tekken influenced animations seem rather obvious but I was surprised by the sheer amount of animations that Garchomp, Gardevoir and Machamp share with Tekken characters. I was also surprised by the variety of characters that Blaziken borrows animations from. Overall, a great comparison video. Thanks for putting a spotlight on Pokkén Tournament with this!
I've played a ton of Tekken and a decent amount of Pokken, and as much as I knew the game shared some moves I can't believe how much I missed. Thanks for the video.
It's crazy just how many nods to Tekken they managed to get in here. Love it. I should pick up Pokken. Also, Blastoise has Armor Kings handspring into back elbow lol
The way you make tekken look is how ive always viewed it in my head bro again thanks for making these videos. Ive played this game my whole life and no one ever does it justice!
I've played tens of thousands of games of pokken and you've managed to include moves that even I didn't know about (such as Blaziken brave bird / devil kazumi). Amazing finds, great video.
Watching this vid brought me back when I owned both games on Wii U. TTT 2 is still one of the most fun fighting games I've ever played and Pokken was such a hidden gem. Probably will buy Pokken back for my Switch just to have fun.
Man you are the best Tekken youtuber nobody makes videos half as interesting and compelling as you. You also show off things I never knew about Tekken related. You're without a doubt the king of tekken youtube videos
I love Pokken Tournament, been playing it competitively for six years, but I was never too familiar with Tekken. So thank you for compiling this, it lets me fully appreciate the variety of references in my favorite fighting game!
Yoooo this is sooo cooool!! I used to play hella Pokken for WiiU in 2016, became top 5 worldwide in online matches. Fought Uroboros and other cool dudes, mained Gengar, Weavile, Machamp, Blaiziken and Gardevoir. Always felt sad that this game didn't do any better in the comunity, OST is straight up fire. Sold my WiiU never played the Switch version. This threw me back good. Thank you so much for this!!
I knew literally nothing about Tekken when Pokken came out. But now that I know a little more, seeing all these references and Easter eggs is so cool!! Big ups to Bandai-Namco for being the goats!
1:43 - that’s actually closer to Lee’s winpose where he does his Silver Cyclone (d3+4) unblockable and goes into Hitman. He doesn’t do it anymore (stupid T7).
Adding that hit stop and trail effects for attacks makes them look much more satisfying to hit and more readable compared to the original moves, even with a short-limbed character like pikachu. 0:26 especially here, mishima's multihit attack had zero impact and the uppercut looked like a wet noodle
