The worst thing about it in current games is that it's so one sided. If I play a mixed tag match, the women can hit the men as much as they like. If the man does it once, even if it's a reversal, the match immediately ends in a DQ. Stupid.
As much as I love Showcase modes in these games, the censorings, removals, and alterations truly do feel like a slap to the face, especially to us diehards who know these matches and moments very well. At this point, it’s better off just watching these matches and moments on the Network or even DVDs, just to have the real deal, or something very close to the real deal. Its truly bizarre how sensitive WWE have become.😕
The changing of the WWE 13 is one I’m ok with since it’s entirely optional. Plus it’s interesting that they specifically went out of their way to change it.
The Universe Era (PG Era) innocence only lasted until 2014, the majority of the list is from the Reality Era & in the Reality Era WWE was operating under a PG guideline, there's a big difference between a PG product & something that operating a PG guideline.
Like the blood in the games can be turned on and off, the uncensored stuff should be an option otherwise they shouldn't ever try to recreate what was otherwise a great moment
Another moment the censored in WWE 2K16’s showcase mode was the beginning of Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels match when Austin was pulling Shawn off the ropes by his legs...it wasn’t his legs in real life😅
The video games shouldn’t be watered down with the same restrictions you see on tv. It’s a video game. While the characters are modeled after real people, they are just images created using computers, not the real person. So why not give the developers a little more freedom? Let Stone Cold throw up the fingers, add the more violent and/or crazy weapons in the game and let the wrestlers use them in a match, let the matches be more bloody, just give the developers more freedom.
While it’s a video game, it’s also a depiction of the actual product on television. I kind of see from their viewpoint why they didn’t want it in the games. Do I agree? No. And I am glad they decided to reel back on it in the years after 2013.
We're living in an age where people use 'violence in video games' as a genuine talking point more and more often, where they demand people be subjected to the same judgment whether their 'victim' is a real person or a bunch of ones and zeroes, and claim an AI that predicts how a text might go needs to be taught ethics so it doesn't 'let out the bubonic plague into the world'. Don't expect any semblance of creative freedom when luddites who believe ChatGPT deserves human rights lord over us.
Totally a beloved feature. Absolutely. I definitely don’t pay for the deluxe edition or accelerator so I can just skip Showcase. I would never do that.
It makes no sense to compare real life to the video game. And even then it's not like men hitting women is something that happens regularly. It's every once in a blue moon. Different time periods different social norms. Ever since svr 2010 men weren't allowed to hit woman in games. It's just how it was.
There's 2 real factors, Vince going public making it a publicly traded company & Linda running for Senator twice & losing. Those moments are were the reason why we have the PG Era and unwarranted censorship.

well, raw isn't PG, but smackdown and NXT are TV-PG. it's been a brand new day when triple h took over, i bet everything can change including the next game that has to be unrushed.

2K22, 2K23, and 2K24 having "Slingshot Technology" has RUINED the mode for me. Hoping it's not in 2K25 onwards if they're only putting 2 days worth of effort into it...
Pretty ironic these changes were made while the WWE games to this day are a T-rated product, the same as they always been. Maybe if newer WWE games where instead rated E10+, which is basically the ESRB equivalent to TV-PG, these changes would at least have a better explanation. This censorship to me is Vince McMahon pretty much spitting in the faces of the Attitude Era and ruthless aggression era fans especially the Attitude Era fans the ones that helped Vince's company during the Monday night Wars against WCW without the fans WCW would have put his company out of business.
I don't care for showcase mode I prefer the made up stories like the smackdown vs raw days like why we wanna see showcase if we can watch these matches on the wwe network?
If all WWE is gonna do is censor or remove certain moments from the Attitude Era in their games, then they shouldn't add them. It sickens me how soft WWE is cause of their stupid ass sponsors.
2k creators make the most weak wwe2k23 video games 🎮 everything is PG ERA which is why I quit buying wwe games after I bought wwe2k22 I was so tired of buying the most low rated wwe games .on the Internet for wwe2k23 is a very low rating which is do to the same crap every year .if 2k would bring back attitude era in wwe games then the wwe games would sell way better and the ratings would look a whole lot higher than almost a 3 star rating. I miss old exhibition matchtypes like buried alive, inferno match,3 stages of hell,championship scramble match,casket match,i quit match,slobber knocker match ,the undertakers beat the streak/defend the streak mode ,backstage attitude era matchs ,weapons to use thats non pg ,100% completed entrances not half created from 2k creators,and more than 1 2k showcase story modes per year ,and universe mode needs to improve a whole lot better,and wargames exibition matchtype is not enough wwe2k22 was trash just like wwe2k23 is trash im so satisfied i didn't waste my money on wwe2k23 and im not buying anything else from 2k creators they are money hungry and thats the bottom line .

Yeah just leave it to Vinny Mac to PG the wrestling too. So effing stupid! One of two reasons why I quit playing them. They also completely and entirely change that the game mechanics, engine, controls etcetera when it transcended from PS3 to PS4 era.
