These commercials aired during the 1984 Olympics on ABC on July 30th, 1984. These are from a 24 year old beta tape that my Aunt and Uncle recorded, so the quality isn't the best.
1. American Express (With Karl Malden and Rick Hurst)
2. Quaker Chewy Granola Bars
3. 7-Eleven
4. Federal Express Zap Mail
5. Mervyns
6. Channel 7 Bumper
8. ARCO (I never thought the concept of a baby wearing adult shoes could be so entertaining)
9. McDonald's (Those kids should have been on The Dream Team!)
10. United Airlines
11. Miller Lite (With football stars Dick Butkus and Bubba Smith!)
12. First Interstate Bank
13. Delta Faucets
14. Red Lobster (Quite possibly the greatest song ever written about an Oyster Bar)
15. Canon MC (I thought that taking candid pictures of random women was frowned upon. My mistake)
16. ABC News Break (With Peter Jennings)
17. United Airlines
18. Bank Of America (I really miss their old logo with the eagle)
19. Atari Touch Tablet (With Alan Alda! I love how he yells "Imagination!" as the picture shrinks into infinity)

Love the Chariots of Fire Theme on the Arco’s commercial! I remember my parents having 1984 Olympics swag when I was little! The Red Lobster commercial was on point!

Listening to the voice over of the FedEx commerical and all I could hear for some reason was, "The bums lost Mr. Lebowski!"

Wow, I think McDonalds must have taken a good kick in the pants over that promotion seeing as the USA medal tally reached 174 in total in the '84 Olympics - and 83 of them were gold too!!! Whoops!! :D

They did. But part of the reason why the U.S. dominated the olympics that year is because of the Soviet led boycott, which meant that 14 eastern bloc countries did not participate in the games. They should have pulled the campaign when the boycott was announced in May but at that point it may have been too late.

The announcer on both the Arco and the First Interstate Bank commercials is Joseph Campanella. At 8:05, the African-American actor is Hal Williams and the lady at the ticket counter is Miriam Flynn. I'm also pretty sure the kid with Alan Alda is Keith Coogan.

I don't think there were any Wal-Mart stores in California during the 80's. I didn't even hear of Wal-Mart until the 90's.

"Everything you always wanted in a beer--and less." I remember that slogan very well, even though I was still 8 years too young to legally drink the stuff in 1984.

6:07--The music in the Delta Faucet commercial is the "Alla Hornpipe" section of George Frideric Handel's "Water Music." 8:00--I love that United Airlines jingle! They have used George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" in their commercials for a number of years now, but the 1980's jingle "You're not just flying, you're flying the friendly skies" is the one I still associate with United Airlines.

At 4:07 McDonald's--they never expected the big boycott of the USSR and Soviet Bloc. They were handing out Big Macs, Fries, and Cokes left and right. I remember going in to look at their status poster and realizing that nearly EVERY TIME I had a full meal coming to me. But you gotta hand it to McDonald's, they honored their commitment (even though I understand it cost them a pretty penny). But hey, I'm a loyal customer to this day!

Out of all the commercials, the Miller Lite would be acceptable today, because of the logo on the beer bottle.

Apropos that a commercial block featuring two ads for an airline would end with Alan Alda, infamous for his C.A.B. bill that tried to sink Howard Hughes ;)

I was working at McDonalds in 1984 and we gave away tons of food thanks to that game.

@humhunny She was the first person outside of Eastern Europe to win a gold in the all-around competition and also won two silver/two bronze for other events. She had a knee injury in the weeks leading up to the Olympics that required surgery but AFAIK had no other injuries during the games. The gymnast famously carried by her coach was Kerri Strugg during the 1996 games in Atlanta.

The first one was filmed at Old Tucson Studios. As for Walmart, the first time I ever saw them was in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. The scene where Clark uses the sled and ends up in Walmart's parking lot.

The boy in the Mcdonalds commercial is Joshua Miller from River's Edge he was Keanu Reeve's brother. He was also the kid vampire in Near Dark. The man in the United commercial is Richard B. Shull. He was the main doctor in Splash. I think that is Keith Coogan in the Atari commercial.

The Sherrif in the amreican express commerical is Rick Hurst, who played Deputy Cletus Hogg on the Dukes of Hazzard

I don't remember Mervyn's. They must not have had those in my home state of Iowa, or in Nebraska where I briefly lived in the mid-1980's.

- RIP Peter Jennings - You just don't get quality commercials like #17 anymore. Just watching that commercial actually makes me want to take their flight. - I never actually seen the eagle logo in the BA sign until that commercial. - It's a shame Mervyn's is now under.

@tekbarrier A common advertising technique is to use testimonials from people interviewed on the street. The guy here clearly isn't an authentic example of this, but it looks like they put him front of a magazine stand like you'd see in a big city to make it appear that way.
