So many memories sparked from this reel! There sure were a lot of commercials for designer jeans back in those days! 'The Apple' is one of the most craptastic movies I've ever had the fortune/misfortune of seeing. That Earth, Wind & Fire Panasonic boombox commercial was awesome! I think that VW needs to update the Scirroco and bring it back like they did the Beetle and the Rabbit. Always thought it was one of the cooler yet weirder names for a car.

I love the two max factor commercials, and the Jesse jeans song at the beginning. And I can’t forget about the Panasonic commercial with earth wind and fire. Rest in peace Maurice white.

I was curious about the "cheap horror paperback" The Funhouse, so I tried looking up the author, to no avail. Then I looked up the book itself and found that Owen West was just a pseudonym for Dean Koontz! Pretty crazy, hahaha.

Was in kindergarten during the year of this reel. I liked this posting because this was around the time when I was really starting to watch television outside of already watching cartoons.

Yep. The book is based on the film. The actress from the commercial is almost certainly Elizabeth Berridge who also starred in the film as did the actor as well. The book came out earlier than the film it's based on due to production taking longer than expected.

The only other time I've seen a trailer for "The Apple" was on a rental video cassette. The trailer on the cassette had a voiceover that said, "When Rock-n-Roll ruled the world." I've hardly heard about it until seeing this RU-vid video. Maybe it's such an obscure movie.

Lots of them. There are only ever one or two major commercial narrators at a time, who do practically everything you see on American TV. It gets confusing sometimes, because once a guy starts landing all the jobs, even his lesser competitors try to mimic the voice, so THEY can be the guy. So to definitively answer your question, yes and no. Also, probably.

Man, nail polish sure has changed. Back then it seems your only color choices were Pink, Not Quite as Pink But Still Pink, Yet Another Pink, Dark Red, Bright Red, Reddish-Pink, Pinkish-Red, and Mauve.

He was writing more than a book a year, and publishers get antsy when writers do that. They don't want to flood the market, because people get tired of seeing too much material from the same writer. Stephen King did the same thing with his Richard Bachman pseudonym.
