Just a quick note from down under about the Lockwood key retention system Bill almost nailed it with the pin except to make it key retaining you remove the back plate and put the pin in from the other side, there is a small counter bore for the head of the pin so the pin won't fall out Also the 8 v 10 rating is because of the size and construction. The core of all those SS Lockwood's are the same core when you go to a 7 the top pins become solids but with an slight end taper that makes you have to set them several times as they hang up with half a millimetre to go Have fun all

Seeing a tap in a drill gun made my eye twitch but it seems to work for you so fair enough, cheers.

As long as it's a softer metal like brass or aluminium I've never had a problem with it.

Pick me, pick me. Beautiful lock. Very informative narration as usual. You're my favorite creator on RU-vid because you give clear and honest explanations. Plus you don't spend ten minutes on a tangent that has nothing to do with what I'm interested in. Thank you.

You should show how long it takes you to pick that modified lock after you've added more security to it :)

I'm wondering what you can do with some improvised tools.. like the old bent hair clip trick you always see in the movies. would you be up for a demonstation/mythbusting video?

Could you do a video to explain the anti drill pins?
@Just_A_Dude
@Just_A_Dude 8 лет назад
+Ivan The Great It's pretty simple, really. It's a piece of Carbide, which is shorthand for tungsten carbide. The stuff is one of the densest and hardest materials out there. Placed where it is, if someone tries to use a power-drill to gut the lock the pin will seriously hamper the driller's enjoyment of their day.
@r3nmgod
@r3nmgod 8 лет назад
+Ivan The Great Basically they are just harder bits of metal meant to make it hard on or break drills.
@error4385

That is how all locks should be made. Lockwood clearly is proud of their product and polishes it to a mirror finish.

Happy Easter. I tuned up an old Depression era guitar to Nashville highstrung, and made my own music for when you are fighting with a lock. It has that banjo mandolin high pitch tone & timbre to it. I will be restringing it back to standard soon.

I have an Ace hardware lock, it looks like a Master clone (or rebranded). It is my practice lock and couldn't be raked or bitch-picked from many, many attempts. Until I realized that the deeper pins are pretty long and needed some deep precision hooks to really get it up there, especially set next to shallow pins... this vid confirmed my quandry! Thanks Bosnian Bill.
