Although, honestly, they probably should've stuck him on the 4.5 Inch howitzer instead. I have a hard time seeing any regular soldier pushing that thing around.
The "x3" after the arty gun name is in fact NOT the amount of times it can fire but the amount of guns represented in the battery that is firing. I know, its stupid, no one needs that information, go ask Eugen. I know this because I once reported the x number not adding up with the number of charges on an american offmap unit and Eugen staff corrected me on that. Also the "agility" stat does not represent the turning circle in the slightest. It represents the dodge rate against incoming fire. The better the agility the more shots it will dodge. It works essentially the same way ECM works in wargame.
I like how Eugen has so many mechanics, but refuses to elaborate on any of them. Games like Age of Wonders: Planetfall do this so much better, so it is really sad, when you see it done horribly.
Fantastic to finally see some Sikh warriors in Steel Division! They were noted for being some of the best fighters in the Commonwealth along with the ANZAC, the Gurkhas, and the Commandos
@@mrnobody9473 You can see some obvious troops of Hindu and Muslim origin in the design as well, but Sikhs and Gurkhas in particular distinguished themselves in combat many times. They get the spotlight for the same reason the SAS or the ANZAC or the Commandos or the Paras do - because they proved their skill in combat above the rank and file
@@vixtheflyingfox ever heard of rajputs, they are older than Sikhs and gurkhas in terms of their heritage and have proved their bravery against Mughals Turks etc several times and they were also very respected in British Raj and fought countless battles, but still don't get the spotlight that sikhs or gurkhas get
@@mrnobody9473 Only the Gurkhas get a different treatment, to represent their focus on close combat. Sikhs & other Indians models ar mixed in all other squads.
@@mrnobody9473 I have heard of Rajputs, yes. The reason they do not get the same kind of spotlight that Sikhs or Gurkhas get is simple: For one, it is because Rajputs describe a very wide and varied group by the time of the British Raj. The culture of the Rajputs had been diluted across so many people and regions that people were unlikely to identify as a Rajput over their caste or religion. Sure, some used it as a status label to try and get more recognition for themselves or their families, but these people did not form a cohesive, organized group in the same way the Sikhs or the Gurkhas did. For another, as I mentioned earlier, Rajputs had gotten so spread out and culturally absorbed into other members of Indian society that ample amounts of Sikhs and Gurkhas alike could trace parts of their bloodlines back to the Rajputs. Though Rajput units existed, such as the Rajput Regiment or the 11th Rajput Regiment, they were not actually made up of people who identified solely as Rajputs. A lot of their numbers included Punjabi Muslims and Sikhs who also happened to be Rajputs. Put simply - Rajputs were not an organized and cohesive culture compared to Gurkhas and Sikhs.
A bit late to the party, but at the end when you were short of activation points, you could have saved yourself a card slot by removing the card of supply in A and instead replacing the phase A arty transport so it comes in with a supply truck.
Forgive my ignorance on this, but shouldn’t the army have a different flag, or at least the Indian units? I was under the impression the British Raj had the Union Jack with the Star of India on it.
As Mr Carl said, our country India was a direct British crown colony like Hong Kong and Singapore after the revolt of 1857, no longer controlled by a company but also not a self governing dominion, that's why even though it had a flag, the union jack is usually used.
@@Jason-35D It is more interesting to note although india was not a dominion, it did got separate representation in international and inter- empire conferences. India was represented separately during all the empire conferences and was allowed separate seat in league of nations. Although it was done to create another British voting block. Britain knew that all her dominions and colonies will vote same as britain in international issue and the clout will be stronger. It did. Technically india was at war on the very second britain declared war on Germany.
Too much phase A arty and too much phase C - AA in my opinion -but great video - thanks-love your efforts with SD2 - pls keep it up - love steel division 2 content
Mildly upset about the fact that they used the regular Union Jack for the Indian units, when the raj had its own colonial flag like Canada and Australia.
The Raj was administered differently. Canada and Australia had much more freedoms like the ability to elect their own prime ministers, as well as a large amount of autonomy when compared to india.
Actually no: regular squads have +1 man, and command squads are more beefy. Believe me, we've actually made more difference with our squads than there are IRL. British Army had standardized organization ...
@@ForgottenArmy1944 Aside from the fact that they would have to designate a staff member (or several) to research, design and implement maps (which would drain their resources from their newest game), they would need to ALSO assign an entire art crew to research, design and implement buildings, flora and terrain that reflect Western Europe instead of Eastern Europe. Since Western divisions were never intended at the beginning, and instead added because of fan-demand, it would be much more effort than worthwhile to have a huge chunk of your dev team be diverted from other projects to spend time coming up with a brand-new terrain set for what is an older game.
This is just the same as all the battlegroups, like Indian 17pdr's Bofors Crusaders, just same units in other British / Canadian groups?. I just don't see the point because none of these battlegroups give you anything new that others have already done. Would have been better if they had sorted the map editor out instead of anther boring DLC. The game is fizzling out, which is a shame
It still has unique units and this is not the only division in the dlc. The 6SA and Italian units are all very new. Also almost none of the staff who would work on a map editor work on divisions. They’re entirely separate bodies of work.
