I always saw it as Luke only realised he made the same mistakes as the Jedi of the past only after history repeated itself with Kylo Ren. That's why he wanted them to end in TLJ

This is literally what Disney is doing right now with their future plans to retcon the series using the World between Worlds. Basically saying, oh yeah that stuff we made was so bad and stupid and pointless but that's the POINT, because now it gets erased as the future we prevented using in universe lore. *Smug Grin* I don't blame Filoni and Favreu, because despite the popcorn return, they've made high quality and watchable star wars again.

@@nathanlobono5818 Why would they do that? That's complex and confusing for anyone trying to get into star wars, which a lot of people are lately thanks to the mandalorian. It makes 100x more sense for them to just do what they did with the prequels - add some backstory + flesh out characters with additional material

@@zane990 I don't have a definite answer for you. You can ask why, but I've laid how they could. And the sequels were really divisive. The prequels were rough but they left a lot of interesting concepts to be fleshed out. The Sequels might feel grandiose but they were rather insular and the mandalorian in its first episode goes back to the expansive feeling of the George Lucas era. It's just a possibility I could see given that time travel is only a tool that became popular in the movies and shows after Disney, even if it originated with Lucas let's say.

I like the take of 'canon not needing to split hairs'. In storytelling you have different media, and each medium is in a niche of its own and inevitably the same story is gonna end up being told differently depending on said medium. This allows for variations and different forms of interpretation across diverse forms of media without getting too distracted by the details. "If you want, one way to square this circle is the history textbook version of events “persons X and Y were on planet B when A occurred” is the canon; a fictional expression of it is potentially dramatized and embellished for its medium. Your space mileage may vary." ~ Pablo Hidalgo For example: Han and Greedo were in the Mos Eisley cantina on Tatooine when a shootout occured and only Han walked away. Jedi Master Depa Billaba and her padawan Caleb Dume were on the planet Kaller when Order 66 occured which resulted in the slaughter of Depa Billaba. This does not necessarily take away from the idea of a unified canon which was promised after the Disney acquisition of Star Wars.

This video is just pointing out silly minor things for fun, right now the story group is doing a phenomenal job across the books and comics, everything fits perfectly with everything else

Lucas was way worse though. I enjoyed Rogue One, but my personal favourite story about the Death Star plans is how Leia hooked for them. There were so many conflicting stories, continuity errors, and acts of revisionism under Lucas that it's amazing there was even a canon.

@@DeeFourCee that's more or a Lucasfilm/Disney decision though. Also still holding out hope that they've given him the go-ahead to change things and he's easing into it so there's a big reveal. I think that they would be making a huge mistake to just expect him to be able to bridge the gap, because there's literally no way for him to do that without having to strong-arm the legacy characters into roles they've grown out of.

Was that actually ever from a canon source? I know there was a scene from a novel of something that explains Palpatine often felt drawn to the unknown regions, and a lot of people used to theorise that Palps was sensing Snoke. We know Snoke and the first order emerged from the unknown region, and we can now assume that Palps actually meant he felt drawn to the sith cult planet place

My headcanon was that Snoke was the first attempt by Sidious and Plagueis to create a being from the Force itself. Vader being the successful attempt - a handsome, human person, born to a mother and all - whereas Snoke was created just out in space somewhere. Just a big mean gross space baby. I think all I had to develop this thought was the rumour that Matt Smith was going to play young Palpatine and that "unknown regions" line.

@@scratch2086 Fans... that hired directors and writers and producers that WEREN'T fans. It's incredible how they took all that potential, and just flushed it down the drain, by producing a trilogy without a plan, without communication between the two different directors. Essentially just "winging it", ruining the legacy of legendary characters like Luke and Leia in the meantime, and all they had achieved.

@@JPitt1070 That's you filling in what the movie didn't tell you. It may have been Han's. It may not have been. But Chewie literally watched Han get stabbed and fall. He even reacted to it, so... to say it was to inform him of Han's death is just no. Without an explanation, it pretty much looks like the fanservice of giving Chewie a medal. Literally the whole of RoS was bad fanservice, so it's really not surprising.

Always assumed there was some backup armor for Jango. His jet pack blows up in AOTC but he had an extra of that too

Boba isn't a Mandalorian, so their rules don't apply to him. He could have easily made a replica helmet or just painted one that he found at a Mandalorian battleground.

Han dies and Leia inherits his possessions including that medal, Leia dies and they're like should we throw it in the bin, nah let's give it to Chewey. Super meaningful.

To be fair, Rey worked with Han for a few days, so there was probably a backpay issue there...plus Chewy probably had to explain where her W2 was, etc. As a small business owner, I doubt Han was great with paperwork...yet another reason Chewy deserves a medal.

Luke isn't perfect so hopefully he realises that he's in the wrong and changes his way, maybe it's something we'll explore in the future because I think Filoni knows better than to have Luke not learn a single thing from the fall of the Jedi Order.

Plus wouldn't you want someone learning to use a lightsaber wear armor made from material that blocks lightsabers? Seems like the objects themselves aren't mutually exclusive

Actually it was Anakin's love for Luke that saved the galaxy, and Luke's control over his emotions and refusal to give in to rage, so it's not really contradictory at all. Luke is still young here, and he has only been taught one way, he stayed pretty consistent to that throughout the original trilogy, he never had some big revelation that the jedi actually suck until TLJ when he's an old man. At this point he has only known jedi like Yoda and Kenobi, he didn't see the entire events of the prequels like we did and how badly the jedi botched that situation. Even if Ahsoka told him anything, he probably won't abandon everything Yoda has taught him over some secondhand stories. You're looking at this from your point of view, not his, he has no reason to abandon the jedi teachings yet, it's not until he fucks up like the old jedi did by causing Kylo to go the way of Anakin that he realizes how flawed they are, because he experiences it first hand.
