Eating the wrong foods can clog arteries, increase blood pressure, and cause heart disease. Meanwhile, the right foods can actually help unclog arteries, lower inflammation, and improve the function of your heart. So today I want to go over the worst foods that you may be eating right now without realizing the damage it's doing to one of your most valuable organs your heart. And also I want to give you some of the best replacement options to clean out your arteries and drastically improve your health.
So first let's start with the commonly known issue associated with fried foods. These have been classified as a problem by the American heart association for some time now. This is because fried foods are high in unhealthy fats. That includes trans fats, which are created through a process known as hydrogenation. Trans fats can raise LDL cholesterol levels, or the bad cholesterol while reducing HDL cholesterol levels which is considered good cholesterol. This can directly cause the buildup of fatty deposits in your blood vessels, which increases the risk of heart disease by blocking arteries and impeding blood flow. Trans fat also increases inflammation throughout the body, which is also very bad for heart health. In fact, two large observational studies found that the more often people ate fried foods, the greater their risk of developing heart disease was (2). So, to protect your heart, limit your intake of junk fried foods like fried chicken, mozzarella sticks, and french fries. Instead choose healthier fat sources, such as avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil.
Next, we have high-sugar sodas which are inherently bad for heart health for various reasons. First, soda contributes to weight gain and obesity because it’s high in sugar, and you drink the calories. Both of these factors make soda ineffective at satiating hunger which causes the calories from sugar to typically go on top of the calories already consumed throughout the day. So this causes weight gain, and that in turn, increases blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and inflammation, which negatively affects heart function. The second reason is that high sugar intake can also lead to insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes, which can affect the heart by damaging blood vessels. And third, excessive sugar consumption can cause chronic inflammation. That’s a problem because, as mentioned by a 2020 paper published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, "Chronic inflammation is currently considered as one of the key factors in atherosclerosis development.”(1) Atherosclerosis is a condition where fatty deposits build up in the arteries. That leads to a restriction in blood flow and an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Therefore, to support a healthy heart, limit your soda and overall sugar intake and choose healthier beverage options instead like water, tea, coffee, or other unsweetened beverages.
Another food group that you want to avoid for better heart health is refined carbohydrate sources like white bread, pastries, and cakes. Research shows that these can be pretty bad for heart health. In fact, one study found that those who ate the most refined carbs were two to three times more likely to get heart disease than those who ate the least. (3) One reason is that refined carbs can produce a rapid spike in blood sugar levels. Rapid blood sugar fluctuations can cause insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, which is a significant risk factor for heart disease. Diabetes can damage blood vessels and nerves, which affects the heart as well as other vital organs. Another downside of refined carbs similar to simple sugar is that they’re not very filling. It’s easy to eat hundreds of calories in the form of white bread or cakes. The associated weight gain can cause hurts cardiovascular health by increasing blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and inflammation.
Another food you should stay away from is sugary cereal. While cereals are often considered to be a healthy way to start the day, that couldn't be further from the truth, especially not if it includes high amounts of added sugars, which most cereals do. While consuming processed sugars, in general, is bad for heart health, it might be especially problematic if you consume it first thing in the morning. That’s because the blood sugar fluctuations it causes will make you feel hungrier throughout the day, which can cause an increased caloric intake and ultimately lead to weight gain. On top of that, cereals aren't nutrient dense. Sure, they contain some fiber and a bit of vitamins and minerals...

I love your videos. They truly helped me a lot. I wasn't fat before but now I can say I'm healthy. I started working our in July 2022 and eating healthier in August and i us to weigh about 130 lbs and now I weigh 105 lbs. My weight is still going down. I'm glad butter is healthy because I use butter for vitamin K2 but what about good-quality cheese? Good quality cheese tends to be a little high in fat is that still healthy for the heart and bones?

Butter is pretty much solid milk fat so I would not be concerned that much, you might want to look into grass fed butter and ghee though. I really mean no disrespect but if you are talking about American cheese then it might be best to avoid, unless sourced very carefully. Actual Parmigiano Reggiano from grass-fed livestock is expensive as heck, but for a reason. As far as cheese goes, it is a great source of Calcium and Vitamin A, as well as healthy fats. Downside is, since it is ripened for 12 months it tends to be higher in histamines if memory serves. Also be mindful of fake brands in the States, that might market the cheese as "Parmesan" and be nowhere near the actual official quality standard. Also where I am from, generally sheep or goat milk cheese is a thing - lower in lactose, more easily digestible and since the sheep are pretty much all pasture raised, the milk and cheese nutritional profile is incomparable to the inflammation promoting mass-produced dairy product. You might want to look into that too. Long story short, source carefully and if possible move away from bovine dairy products.

@@Humble_Opinion oh man sometimes when my budget is tight I do end up buying American cheese like the mozzarella sticks that come individually-wrapped but I don't buy those often I do try to go for quality Like the kerrygold grass-fed cheese When my budget is good I'll get cheese for my local health food store I like goat cheese more than cow cheese but I don't know if its grass-fed, but when it comes to yogurt and cottage cheese I get the daisy cottage cheese because it has less with yogurt I just get the regular Greek yogurts I know they're probably not grass-fed but they're more affordable then the grass-fed yogurts and they still have protein and calcium but the majority of my fat does come from cheese and butter eggs and nuts and seeds too But I really need to invest in more better quality cheese since I don't just eat it for the protein I rely on cheese and butter for vitamin D3, K2 A and calcium and other minerals but it's good to know that cheese and butter isn't necessarily causing heart problems and high cholesterol like I've been hearing it does

The levels vary alot, so much that testing them is unreliable. The terminology is confusing, they are these little spheres that contain fats, triglycerides, cholesterol, but can be made up of polyunsaturated fats as well as mono or saturated. People think when it's comprised of alot of pufa it is very reactive and then it can be bad. We never ate alot of pufa historically so this is a strong argument. Anyway these spheres have no known mechanism of getting into the arterial wall because there is an lining of cells that lines every artery and vein in your body the epithilium. So the concentration hypothesis is weak, people also don't really grasp the actual sizes of these structures, an LDL is like a soccer ball in a stadium.

Olive oil is great, but if you fry on it, it become unhealthy when overheat and temperature for it is lower than eg canola oil, so high temp change chemical composition and we should be careful with something healthy in room temp but it could be unhealthy when heated.

Every single study I've read in government and privately done studies and meta studies say that olive oil, especially extra virgin olive oil and avacado oil are good for your heart. No you shouldn't overheat evoo because it can oxidize but it's really hard to do that with avacado oil since it has the highest smoke point of all cooking oils, animal or vegetable.

The smaller the fish (and thus the lower it is on the food chain), the less mercury and other heavy metals it will accumulate over its lifetime. What I do not agree with that was mentioned in the video, is mackerel. Depending on the region you get them, they can be pretty high in heavy metal content too. Sardines and other small fish are the better choice. Also, there is a difference between farmed and caught. Farmed tend to be much higher in antibiotics and other chemicals. Wild caught sea fish on the other hand, high in environmental pollutants like heavy metals. Yep...we messed up the planet so much that you can't win this - unless you have access to local freshwater fish caught in unpolluted waters.

Air fry your frozen chickens from grocery without oil is healthy than old popeye and KFC with deep fry oil, but they never clean deep fry and reuse it for next day forever.

Shark is very popular in Asian countries. Shark fin soup is a delicacy over there, and the sharks are caught, their fins cut off, and then thrown back in the ocean to die. It's one of the main reasons shark population is declining

@@kenrickbautista6141 - shark taste good, however the mercury is not from old mercury dumping, it is a byproduct of coal burn off, India , Middle East Countries, China, and Europe still burn coal , Very little air pollution restrictions, / regulations in those countries, as well as all the radioactive materials spilled in the ocean from the Japanese Fukushima nuclear accident. Be careful what we eat , sorry but it’s adangerous world.
