Great update Armien. The VCs own Ben Costello picked up a original of that Placebo not long ago.Bringing back some 90s memories with that Fatboy Slim.A shame about the Sonic Youth being warped, that sounds very interesting.
Servus Armien, toller Channel, echt intressant. Mach weiter so!
Armien
I need to get Smash at some point. As far as I know it was also reissued and should be available easily. Staring at the sun is a good punk rock song indeed. Thanks for watching, Will!
hello armien though I don't have many lps from the 90s in my collection it was interesting to see what you liked and what was popular then.some of these that you showed and talked about peaked my interest and if I ever come across them I will have to try them out. thanks rob
Thats fantastic, Rob! Every decade had it's moments in a way. I grew up in the 90s so this time will always be special to me. Thanks for watching :) All the best! Armien
Hi Armien, great to see some 90s stuff. I prefer Oasis and Verve before Blur. I guess the other two, or at least Oasis, are a little bit more heavier than Blurs first albums were. But there are a Pet Shop Boys remix of "Boys and girls" that are very fun and special! Also awesome to see some big beat at VC! I started to wonder if i was the only one digging it! ;) That Fatboy Slim album is a classic, so unpredictable and funny! However the second track on the "Rockafeller skank" 2 track-single, "Always read the label" is a really great track. I still think it should've made it to the album!
Hi Jörgen, I need to listen to that Pet Shop boys remix ! Good to know that there is another Big Beat lover in the VC. Fatboy Slim's album is a classic indeed. Thanks for watching :) Armien
Another great video. Current vinyl pressing is really depressing. I think they gave up quality control completely. The majority of titles I've ordered I had to return ... Next to the warping, also more and more records that skip (got 2 in a month, vinyl setup is perfectly setup). And now I've heard some people were banned from Amazon because they returned too much items at some audiophile-forum... I just recently started to realize how great the 90's actually were, would love to have a 'decent pressing' of No Need to Argue. Also remember Primus was very popular at alternative parties at that time (although we were much too young to go there :) ). Like all of the purchases :) Was very much into techno, house and trance (underground progressive house/trance) back in the days. Crazy times that will never come back :)
Too bad that there is no quality control at all at the moment. All those warped LPs are really frustrating. Wow - very heavy to hear that thing about people being banned from Amazon. I heard about it but only women were involved that bought cloth in 10 different colors and send back 9. I am still celebrating the 90s and will be back with a crazy update. I got some of my biggest grails. I was deep into electronic music as well but its so interesting to learn more about the rock and alternative side. I don't wanna miss it anymore. Thanks for watching my friend :) Armien
It's good to see you so enthusiastic, Armien! :) Hard to believe that some of those albums were released in the 90's. That decade seems so far away. The Offspring, The Cranberries, Fat Boy Slim and so on - what a great bunch of music they made back then. Alarmingly these days it sounds that record pressing plants doesn't have a proper quality control. In many VC videos I have heard about these new reissues that they are warped or have some other issues. Not very nice! I think they are too busy to cash in "the vinyl vibe" that's been growing up lately. Bring back the 90's - I can handle that, Jarkko / MyVinylBar
Guten Tag Jarkko, I agree - sometimes I can not believe that the 90s are so far away. Time has passed so fast in a way. Unfortunately the pressing quality of todays records is really really bad. Like you said : There is no quality control at all. We can only hope that it will get better after the big "vinyl boom". Thanks for watching my friend :) Armien
Great channel, you help me decide on what vinyl to buy. Do you remember a band called "Carter, Unstoppable Sex Machine" aka Carter USM. If you ever see it. GET IT!!
+chadergeist Since the reissue became available the prices for original pressings went down a little. Never the less: Greek pressings are very poor in quality most of the time. Maybe I'll get an original one day. Thanks for watching! Armien
Excellent video once again!!! My copy of "No Need To Argue" was actually dead silent. I wonder of the noisy copies had anything to do with a repress/second pressing. As I recall, this album came in early June and I preordered it from Amazon. However, it looks like this album was nowhere to be found for a few weeks and then started popping up again which leads me to believe that there might have been a second pressing of this album.
Mark Serrano Interesting to hear that. It was really sad cause the reissue is fantastic actually. Too bad my copy is so noisy but yeah..... Thanks for watching my friend! Armien
***** haha thats so crazy! the original pressing is selling for silly money here in europe. Like 150$ or more. Maybe I'll find a good copy one day. Congrats on your find!
Armien
Frizzle Fry, My favorite PRIMUS Album by far. Seen them about a dozen times, Back in the day they came to Salt Lake City a lot. Oh I saw Bleach on your wall. I have an early pressing and it sounds WAY BETTER than the crap ass CD.
hello armien awesome video bro. i live in canada. i got some 90s stuff. but love to get more. at moment i got 70s and 80s as i rebuild my lp collection. great job bro. i hate warp lps too. hope they can replace the lps of sonic youth for u. awesome video. love your channel. how is the weather in germany . Mike :)
Hello Mike, thanks for tuning in! I am glad that you liked the video. It's ultra hot in Germany at the moment. We are having another heat wave. I try to stay cool but it's soooo freaking hot man! Have a good weekend :) Armien
Hammer Videos! Ich liebe 90`s Rock. Was ist deine Lieblingsband ?
Armien
Actually it depends where you come from. I'm Australian and we pronounce it exactly the same as he does. Same as in England I believe. So it's correct either way! :D
Hi Armien. I am an avid collector of original 90s records. Just wondering if you can help me out to source some, so I can carry on building my collection? Cheers, many thanks. Love your vids :)
I have to say I have a soft spot for the Cranberries debut LP (Everybody's Doing It...etc) and would love to find it on wax. I must have listened to it a billion times when I was at university. The second LP was good but IMHO not as charming. I know what you are saying about Plain recordings. They are not good. The two that I have are OK (the debut LP by Low and XO by Elliott Smith) but friends tell me horror stories about some of the Plain pressings they got.
I also liked the debut way more than their second album. My CD from the 90s is so beat up that I must have listened to it a billion times as well! Too bad that Plain Recordings actually did a good reissue but the pressing ruined it. Thanks for watching - have a good sunday :) Armien
Loved this update Armien. I picked up the Cranberries as well and the first copy arrived warped. What is it with all this warped new vinyl? It drives me crazy. My copy sounds good - it is a bit noisy but I didn't notice it immediately. Shared your video on my local VC Facebook group as well. Looking forward to Part 2!
Hi Scott, I can totally understand you. The pressing quality is so bad in these days. It's a true pain! I will be back with the second part this weekend :) Thanks for watching and sharing! Armien
