Luckily there is no way to mass produce the skills required to use the pick on these type locks. It takes so long to get good enough to open these locks and I'd argue that the talent required to get them open in the same speed as LPL is probably only attainable by the 1% of people who take up lock picking.
@MelissiaBlackheart
@MelissiaBlackheart 5 лет назад
@@Quick_in_and_out Right. These cores are still quite good for most peoples' purposes, and as long as the lockmakers avoid putting in design flaws that allow people to bypass it, and put them inside of beefy lock bodies, they're well worth owning.
@daylen577
@daylen577 5 лет назад
@@Quick_in_and_out Hell looking at how long it took LPL to pick this one even with him noticing things that an amateur would never even think of, I'd say this would be a good deterrent for any average burglar. Judging by the materials used the only viable attack would be a disc cutter and that would make it noisy enough for the lock to still have done its job perfectly.

@JF32304
@JF32304 4 года назад
It really isn't that difficult. The slop in the lock is what really helps these pickers. If everything was good and tight on the tolerances... It would be much much harder to pick. Almost impossible. If every piece was machined within .0001 tolerance you couldn't get it without a key. You have to think... With the slop in the tools, that slop directly connects to the slop in manufacturing. When they use a paper clip to open it... It's not even a lock lol. The disks in this video are stamped brass, if they used machined steel wafers they couldn't get it. Hell, you could laser cut them and have built a better core. i need to invent an un-pickable lock.

Well you started picking at 50 seconds and you are done picking at 2 minutes and 52 seconds so approximately 2 minutes to pick and get into whatever was of value. It would take you longer to either cut the wire or unwrap it than it did to pick this lock. You are amazing!

The keys look simple enough and the mechanism can't be that complicated. The locks aren't meant o be physically robust - they're in a controlled environment - so why not just "pick" them? Not sure about it but what is the point in preserving the integrity of a lock if all keys are lost? Starting from that premise I guess it's usually cheaper to just drill through the lock than paying an expert to actually pick the lock. As you said they're in a controlled environment, it's not as if they were stealing stuff where time and stealth are much more constraining.

Do you have any clear bodied practice disk locks? I don’t really understand how they work, would be nice to be able to see inside as you pick/unlock one.

So off topic from this video.....I recently watched your review of that Bangood cheap lock picking set. I took your advice and smoothed them out. I work in quality engineering at a huge mega factory. We have nothing but American locks all over the place. Well people lose keys all the time and we have to cut the shackles all the time. Well....I just picked my first lock!!! Your channel is amazing and this will help my company save money! Of course people end up finding their keys eventually so I can swap core between cut locks and missing key but eventually found key locks. lol.

I now saw several trays for pinnings, but they all cover the standard core design with two pins, a spring and maybe some master wavers. I'm a bit curious why there are no pinning trays for Disc Detainer locks yet ...

Why have you never made a video explaining locks that you have a really hard time picking... or maybe even CAN'T pick. It seems like you just post videos of locks you've practiced and can pick in a short time. I understand the desire to be seen as like this unstoppable pickmaster... but it'd be informational to know about some types of locks that are especially difficult to pick.

If one watches LPL or BB videos from just a few years ago, you will see them talking about how they can't pick a lock of this design and how you could count on both hands the number of people in the world with that skill. I would suggest that this is a wonderful lock for 99.9% of consumers.
@SolitarySwede

Picking the lock in less than a minute, still consider it to be a lock he would choose. Bloody hell. I envy your skills, Sir, and I salute you! I have four of these, they cost well over $100 each. A bit unsettling to see that they were so "easy" to pick. :/

Hey LPL. I tossed this at Bill too. Ive not seen anyone use oscillating tools against locks. Like yeah there are electric picks that are essientially mini oscillating tools, but i mean full size power tool oscillating cutter type things. I think they might be successful against various locks used in various ways.
